Hello everyone~

I've been MIA for a long time and I'm sorry about that. I have read your posts regularly. My mom passed away about 7 weeks ago and that had been hard for me. I miss her a lot. Darn cancer.

We did a donor cycle in April. My husband's only request was that we didn't tell anyone so I didn't. He didn't want the baby to feel any less loved than our son. I knew the secrecy was important to him so I respected his decision. I wanted it... he wasn't sure. Well, it didn't work. We selected a young 20 year old and it made me feel better that maybe my eggs aren't that old after all. Her eggs didn't even make it to day 3 despite her 60 follicles. Crazy, huh? And we paid her 5 grand. Ouch.

Our next plan is to do another fresh IVF cycle (our own) and call it quits if it doesn't work. I'm starting to accept that we may be a "one and done" family. And somehow I'm OK with that. I'm not sure we will even pursue the adoption from India idea. I am hoping that my mom will be my guardian angel and bless us with a baby. If not, it's OK. I have an outstanding son and I am so grateful for him.

And again, I have missed you and have enjoyed your updates.

Love, Jayne AKA Amy

Anna - I hope your beta today is awesome! How far along are you? I thought that after about 5.5 weeks, an u/s tells a lot more than a beta number. Maybe ask for an early u/s?

Barbara - they always say "don't worry" and I ask "how do I do that?" sometimes the doctors really really really don't get it. One even told me that we should wait and see - and then IF I have another pregnancy loss, we should do some interventions. WHAT? That doctor clearly does NOT understand what it's like to carry a baby for 20+ weeks and then lose them, so close to being able to bring them home. Sheeesh.

Gina - UGH. I hate paperwork. I'm sorry that things aren't going smoothly!

Kynlee - welcome back. You doing another IVF cycle, or an IUI? You didn't have any frosties last time?

Julia - YIPPEEE! Image So exciting. I know that you were hoping for twins, but I promise that it's better with a singleton. Of course, it would be great to bring home two babies instead of one, but I can tell you from experience that a twin pregnancy is much more risky than a singleton. Seeing a heartbeat is fantastic! From what I've heard, once you see a heartbeat, you have a 5% chance of loss -- which means a 95% chance of bringing this baby home in 8 months! YAY!

Cyn- natural FETs are super easy from a meds/checkups point of view. Of course, I always tell people that the shots and appts are the easy part compared to the stress! End of May is really soon. At work, we've been getting orders for the end of May and I commented - wow, people are ordering WAAAY in advance until my co-worker pointed out that it's only 6 weeks from now!

Mellow/Marsha - welcome, old friend! :D (well - not that YOU'RE old, but that we've known each other a long time, ok?) FETs are much easier, no matter what kind they are. Do you know what you'll need to do? If you have really regular, good cycles, you can just transfer naturally during your cycle (ie 3 or 5 days after ovulation). I do estrogen orally for about 2 weeks to build up a lining, then start progesterone 3 or 5 days before transfer. Other people have to do Lupron, but I'm not sure why.

HopeThisWorksM - what do you teach? What age?

Patricia - that's a bit weird. Here, everyone (female) goes to a OBGYN all the time, pregnant/TTC or not. -- not an FET - just a regular fresh cycle for me!

Christy - I doubt anyone will give your husband his job back, but it's nice to know that he's loved there and other people are pissed that he was fired. It's probably money and nothing else. Would you want to move? Could your job possibly move with you?

Amy/Jayne - I saw on facebook about your mom. I'm so so sorry. None of your donor's eggs made it? Don't you get some kind of refund for that? Do they know why? That sounds like a doctor/lab error - either she was triggered too early/late and that messed up the eggs, or something went wrong in the lab. That is totally ridiculous. I would complain - loudly and often. --- with everything we've been through, I kinda think we'll be a 'one and done' family. I grew up in a big family, and DH always wanted a big family. We talked about 3 kids, at least. But now - with the IVF and the losses - I'm not sure we'll ever be willing to dare this again after we have one (before we have one, we're not giving up!). Maybe adoption/surrogacy/fostercare will work to grow our family, but I doubt we'll have more than one biological kid. That's so painful. A part of IF that people don't consider - is have MORE kids.

AFM - I start shooting up today! I'm so excited.

I really really really really need to get pregnant again.

I don't know how I'll cope with a BFN....

Morning ladies

Leora: Lol - I don't think its weird - just different practices in different countries! :D When will you transfer?

Jayne: You have crossed my mind on a number of ocassions. I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum. Its still so early and I'd imagine from how you talk about it, so raw. I remember you talked about your Mum's cancer and at the time feeling how good you were to her in terms of being with her. I know its absolutely no consolation but I hope you know how much of a difference that would have made to her. I'm also sorry about the IVF not working. We all hope it will work and when it doesn't its so difficult and taking the option you did and it not working out must have been just crushing. I wish you healing from both losses.

Julia: Yay - its lovely to see your ticker

Christy: I'm delighted your dh's colleague is going to make a fuss. Redundancy just fveels so unfair and clearly he has made a hjuge impact on the students if they are also protesting.

Afm: Clinic in t-5 hours!

okay - I officially feel like a drug user. I just "shot up" in the work bathroom!

2 Menopurs down - about a hundred million to go!

That hurt more than I remembered. My last fresh cycle was more than a year ago. OUCH!

Good morning girls well blood was drawn at 7:30 am now the loooooong wait for the call. I started the morning in prayer and leave this in God's wonderful hands. I will try.....yea right not to worry...too much

Leora I am so excited that you are stimming :) I have such a good feeling about this cycle for you and can't wait to get up every morning to see you post your bfp sticks :) . Yea I remember Menapur really stings...ah the things we do for babies. Honestly although I have not been through what you have had to go through so forgive me but I too thought that once we got our 1 baby we would stop but then its like an addiction in some way...its crazy I know but you start thinking...well I am still young let's try just 1 more time....I know I must sound crazy. Anyways I am so excited for you and can't wait till you are preggers again. hugs. As for the u/s because the re does not know when I conceived we have to go by betas. I have no idea how far along I am but if I had to guess probably not 5 weeks yet. As long as beta is good today my first u/s to see the sac is Fri   NERVOUS!!

Mellow So good hearing from you and as Leora already said FET's are pretty easy. When are you thinking of starting?

Christy I am so sorry about what you and DH are going through. Its so rough in academia these days. My dad is an adjunct English professor at USC and he says that the dept is purposely not hiring full time professors to save money  it's so wrong. I always wanted to go on and get my PHD in History ( I have a BA and MA already) but with the job market what it is for professors I often wonder if I will be able to find a job outside of schools. Anyways good luck today...let us know how it goes

Jayne I am so sorry about your mom. Cancer is so terrible. Having personally had cancer I just keep praying that they find a cure for this terrible disease because it claims so many wonderful people. I pray you are able to find a little peace and I am sure your mom is absolutely your guardian angel. In my family cancer is everywhere and its always so rough. I have lost 2 aunts and an uncle to cancer...my other 2 aunts are in remission like me and we just pray every day that it does not come back. hugs to you and again so so sorry for your loss

Globe how are you holding up? any interesting symptoms? I know the 2ww is so hard and it tends to last forever but you will get your bfp before you know it...just keep focusing on that

Hope (Maria) how are your sinuses? have you seen a neurologist yet or is it later this week?

Ninde good luck at the appt today

Barbara I am trying not to worry but it is proving so difficult. I have however stayed off the internet as far as googeling "bleeding" so as not to scare myself. Thanks again for your support

AFM just waiting. Actually so weepy today I literally cried at a stupid tv commercial and then to a song in the car...so not like me...I guess its just stress...well will update as soon as I hear anything. Probably not until 2pm EST

Hope- I'm glad you are ok, and the wreck wasn't serious! Timing is so unperfect yet try to relax...May those babies continue to snuggle in to mama.

Annashope- Dh will not go back to get his PhD, he says the job market is already hard enough and the difference in pay from having your master to PhD is not enough to account for the cost in tuition. He is considering going back for continuing education so he can teach high school thinking it might help him in the private school sector down here.

Leora- You had me laughing at "shooting up in the bathroom." The crazy places but my all time favorite for us when we were traveling home for the holidays was the Wal-Mart parking lot. sigh Anyway, I really really really really want this to work for you guys more then EVER too. At the same time you must do everything you can to stay calm and at bay to make this work.

Julia- When is your next scheduled u/s? Please keep us posted on everything! How ironic with what you said about being the rock to my husband. Last night I ironed his new teal button down shirt since he's going to tour the Bay Charter School today and hopefully get to meet the principal! In the pocket of his shirt I left a note that said "Happiness is not over-rated" and signed it. This morning on the kitchen counter he placed with my yoga mat me a note he wrote "Jobs come and go but my stability is in you...You are my rock I love you so much." I really believe in him and feel everything will come together soon!

Ninde- I hope talking with your RE today will bring you peace, and give you some direction in your steps. I honestly feel the progesterone wasn't supportive enough but thats just my 2 cents worth. Yes dh really should get a facebook account just to hear his students rage, you're right it makes him feel good that they do care.

Jayne- I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. x She will always be your angel looking down and watching over you.

Anna, we haven't decided when to do a FET. I have 3 grade A blasts, and need to get something done soon, since I don't want a huge gap between Marlo and a new baby. She is a handful...that is one reason I am not sure when I will do this. Still not sleeping through the night and getting up for a bottle. She also doesn't nap. I think her 17 weeks in the NICU has made her not want to miss a second so she is all go all the time! :) Super cute, but super time consuming...she has started to crawl too, so we are in trouble now. Haha.

Leora, my big problem is that we moved, so my embryos are in Cali, and I am in Texas....Ugh. What a pain. So now I have to do everything long distance and then go to get it done when it's time. I have very regular cycles (28 days) so my hope to do it unmedicated if possible. Just have to figure out when now. I am in a bit of a bigger hurry than I would like because of my age...so we will see.

Cheering you all on, I see some very familiar names here. Praying and rooting for each of you!

Christy- I seriously just cried reading what your Dh said. Lol hormones. That was beautiful!!!

Jayne- I meant to mention, I am so sorry for your loss. My mother and I were very close and she has alzheimers. Its like she's already gone so I know that pain is horrible. Prayers for you.
