Crashing again...

Leora - your BFN just stinks. I'm so sorry. You're still young, determined, focussed and I'm sure you and DH will end up with your own baby before long. Hurry, hurry so we can 'freak out' on the PAT board together. :? Jump back on board, you can do it. :) Thanks for asking how I'm doing. I had my first mtg with the high risk team. Had a scan - wee bean is measuring up fine and heartbeat all good. Plan of action is scan at 12,16, 20 and 24 wks. Should be able to pick up MGS by 16 wks. So it's another 6 wks of not telling the general public. Ahrrgghh! I'm already feeling fat.

Ninde - great to see you sounding so positive. You too must come and join me on the PAT board soon. :) I'll be spying on your progress....Q

Amanda - it's sounding good. Good luck today. :)

Gina- we keep saying "well... one more cycle" - but when we get that BFN, it's soooo hard to stop. I really hope your first IVF works, but it's so hard when you know this is the 'last shot' and it fails.

Kynlee - I'm the kinda person who prefers to get out of the house and exercise. If I do it at home (I used to do Tae-Bo kickboxing vidoes) I find the videos get too repetitive (and the dogs freak out :D ) I'm going to join a gym this afternoon!

Patricia - thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to have to talk to David about what's a reasonable expectation. I think he just wants to see me making a real effort... and keeping with it.
Seriously, what is up with your throat? This sucks. -- but I'm so happy to hear that you are feeling 'in a better place' about the IVF.

Cyn - really? I can't travel with a package of Mentos (apparently the metal wrapper shows up in the scans - and I got stopped once and interrogated over BREATH MINTS!) - but you can travel with needles? You could've injected the pilot with Lupron -- that would be worse than hijacking it, no? Can you imagine a super moody pilot? I hope Friday shows that you are on track to start the progesterone for transfer!

HopeThisWorksM - when I got the BFN, my first thought was "ugh, I don't want to share bad news. Everyone is rooting for me!" I always feel bad sharing bad news -- but I don't have any good news to share  I'm sure your two little ones are fine in there. No symptoms at all? Consider yourself lucky! :D

Amanda - at a certain point, you'll have to give up the pee sticks, preggo! :D I totally understand how it doesn't matter if the baby is genetically yours or not, but it might be good to know for medical reasons (if there is a 'family history' of anything. My mom is adopted, and doctors don't like that I don't have a 'family history'). I would also die of curiousity. Our boys were di/di twins (meaning in seperate sacs, with separate placentas) and we transferred 2 embryos, but there is still a chance they were identical. They both had D's less common blood type. We never thought to take a DNA sample before they were buried, so we'll never know if they were identical or fraternal - but I want to know!

Christy - DH and I joke about kidnapping a baby all the time. When ever we see a stroller with a baby unattended (like at the play ground, or the supermarket, when the mom is paying attention to something else), we talk about just taking it. Too bad there would be too many questions we couldn't answer and no paperwork! I always say that if we are going to stroller-snatch - we should snatch a GOOD stroller. We shouldn't steal a kid in some crappy knock-off one! Kidnap a Bugaboo!
Sometimes I despair of running out of options and having to live child-free --- I really hope adoption or IVF works for us. We totally deserve to be moms....

Margi - thanks, dear. This really sucks and is unfair. We kinda expected it, based on the awful fert results. But still devastating.

Lauren - just 2 days until your u/s, no? Try to hold on! I'm sure things are fine. Have you taken a pee stick, just to see the two lines?

Wendy (Tess) - thanks. I really really really really hope this is your healthy rainbow baby, but I'm sure you must be sh*tting bricks for the next 6 weeks or so! I know I'll be totally on edge until about 30 weeks pregnant - so it's a loooonngg time to be stressed out! Just remember, you have a 75% (or whatever) of a HEALTHY baby!

AFM- Did you know it rains sand here? I woke up and it was overcast this morning --- but no water will fall from the sky (we get zero rain between March and November) -- instead, I had to turn my wind shield wipers on for the SAND falling. So weird. I don't think I'll ever get used to this weather! (Jerusalem is on the edge of the Judean dessert, so when there are sandstorms there, it rains sand here!)

Our social worker visit went great. She wasn't even so interested in the house -- just we had one and that we had a room for a baby (we have a guest room/office that will be the nursery). We sat at the dining room table and talked. She wanted to hear us talk about our background, and why we want to be parents, and why we are interested in foster care (foster-to-adopt). Then we talked about different kinds of scenarios that can arise with foster care. Most are pretty scary (involvment with biological parents, visiting times, court decisions, losing then re-gaining custody, etc), but I think we could handle it.

We got to ask some questions. 3 of the main ones for me were (1) what is the child's name? The child keeps the name their biological parents gave them. If we adopt, we can change the name then. We can also use nicknames if we don't like the name. (2) what does the child call us? "Mommy and Daddy" (or whatever we choose). If the biological parents are also involved, then there are two sets of names (ie, we can be "mom and dad" and the bio parents "ima and aba" (in Hebrew) or whatever, or "Mommy Leora" and "Mommy whatever"). (3) can we pursue this and IVF at the same time? SURE! They have no problem with mixed families. We can foster and then have our own, or have our own and then foster - and we can keep doing the IVF during this whole process. (I was worried because Christy said the adoption people wanted her to not be doing more IVF)

She asked us a lot of questions. Over all, we talked for an hour and ahalf and I think it went well. She said "transparency" is really important - they'll tell us everything they know, and we have to tell them everything that's relevant. She said that if at any point they decide they don't want us, they'll tell us right away - we won't think we are waiting when really we are off the list.

We talked about what limitations we have. Right now, we don't care about boy/girl or race - and are open physical disabilites (anything from a cleft lip/palate, to missing limbs, to scars, to blind or deaf -- obviously on a case-to-case basis), but we definitely want less than a year old and no (known) special needs. We aren't open to the idea of Down's Syndrome or Cerebral Palsy or something that serious. A lot of the babies are "drug withdrawal" babies - ie their moms took drugs while pregnant. That we said we'd consider on a case to case basis, and meanwhile we'll reasearch what it means and how we feel about it.

It feels wrong to put limitations on it. The older children and children with special needs are those that especially need homes. But we've talked about it, and the social worker totally agreed with us, that we can only take what we feel we can handle. Taking an older child or a special needs kid would probably be worse for everyone. We wouldn't be able to handle that at this point. Maybe in the future, but not now.

phew!

We meet her another few times (another appt for next Tuesday night) and then she writes a report either recommending us or not. If she recommends us - we take a foster-parenting course. When we pass, we are just waiting for a match.

This is exciting and scary.

There are some buearacracy hiccups -- if we do this, I don't get maternity leave (which I would get if we adopted. Actually, I'll still get maternity leave if we adopt - but that could be in years and years! :D ). We do get money from the government for raising a foster kid (about $500/month, plus any special expenses - like therapy (psychological or physical), tutoring (for learning disabilities) any specialist doctors, etc), which could help if I take time off from work (which I want to!). Our status as foster parents would make it very difficult to leave the country with the child (which is an issue since my family lives in teh USA, but I guess they'd have to come here to visit!). Things like that.

RE appt tonight -- I really hope we get a green light to start again!

Hopefully SOMETHING will make some progress and we'll bring home a baby someday soon!

Leora -

Your mail today is such an inspiration, and it comes across so deeply how you feel a child is a child regardless. You just want to give your unconditional love to a special (little) someone. I think everybody here is praying for you, good things will soon happen!

Hi everyone!

Leora- I am sorry for the bfn honey. :( Have no words. Wish I had to make you feel better. But I don’t. I had 7 BFN’s so far in my journey and I still can’t digest them! :x ...I am glad you are feeling ready to jump on the rollercoaster! I know exactly how that feels! Both RE’s I have worked with leave a month between each BFN. (BFN period then another period then start new cycle) Oh Leora, you know how much we all pray for you, for all of us here, and I really hope you get your miracle baby SOON! How was the RE appt and the SW visit?! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and David and I can’t wait to celebrate good news with you! hell! I am even ready to come at your hospital when you deliver your baby! I’ll jump on the plane and fly over to Israel just for that day for you! :D ((HUGS))

...just read your last post! :D These are Good News honey! I am SO glad the SW appt went great! That is fantastic! :D thank you for sharing that info with us! I always wonder about the procedure...that is if its the same in my country. I have no idea if we ever have the foster family option in my country  i guess i am still in denial that this might be an option for us in the end  ... OH! I really really hope you get the green light to everything soon!!! I am SO proud of you!!! xoxoxo

Amanda- hey mama! How many betas will you have? Good luck today! :D ...which I am sure you don’t need it! ...any pregnancy symptoms? :P

Lauren- Hey mama! I am SURE it’s still working!!! And for your peace of mine I hope by now your throwing up or something! Hang in there! Your baby/ies are fine!

Sunshine- I Love that you have plans for the following days/weeks! I am a plan person too  Planning gatherings and stay over’s is my kind of thing!...or used to be... Sounds like you are going to have a lot of traffic in your house! I remember we used to do a lot of BBQ’s at our place, like almost every weekend, but now not so often. For friends at least. we do mostly with our families. Ever since we started getting BFN’s we don’t feel like having parties in our place. Not that we still don’t have gatherings, just not as other as we used to before. I remember everyone was looking forward to get an invitation for a party at our place. I used to have a big party at my birthday and DH’s birthday every year and we had around 50 people over with a dj, snacks and cocktails all day long around the pool and at night we had BBQ and wine tasting. We started in the morning and finish late at night. Good old days... and to think that all that where happening about 3yrs ago :( ...then all of our friends got kids - within 2-3yrs time all of them have- and is VERY HARD to have everyone over with their kids and us being the ONLY ones with none. being the host makes impossible to just get up and leave when you feel like it :( So, we still have gatherings with our close friends but not so often and not so big. DH and I dream of that day when we have our baby/babies playing with our friends babies and we ‘enter’ that special 'parents tribe' with them......Yes, I would adopt tomorrow too if I got the green light from DH but he too believes that we are definitely not there...yet. We always talked about adopting but after we have our ‘own’ biological baby first. WHY does it have to be SO hard for us to have a baby! Would it hurt to be one of those people that have sex one night and boom! Baby coming in 9 months! Wouldn’t that be great! But i am with you honey. One way or another I feel in my heart that we will have our babies SOON! :D ...I just hope I am young enough to be able to change their diapers! forty is just 2yrs away and then 45 and 50 are just around the corner!scary! i dont want to be old when i have my kids! i want to be able to run and play and do lots of activities together! freaking out right now just by thinking of it!!!

Gina- I am with Lauren! Why all this shitty things are happening to your family!  Maybe you should bring an exorcist and take the bad vibes away!

Nicole- I find your MIL cruel and the least to say, insensitive! If you can’t communicate with her (due to the language barrier) then your DH SHOULD explain some basic stuff of what you guys are going through. A pressure from the in laws is the last thing you need right now! My MIL is quite the opposite. I can’t believe she even told me one day that she had an idea ...:’how about telling your RE to use another sperm! And we don’t have to say anything to my son! He doesn’t have to know’...and she was half joking, half serious about this ‘idea’!  ...can you believe her! I was like ‘are you crazy! :o  ’ I could never do that! Not without his permission of course! ...we are very open and I can talk to her about anything especially about IVF ...before she retired, she used to be a social worker with a major in psychology and so she gets me. She 'handles' me with care..

I don’t remember who said that her in laws are coming to stay for a month! :o ...I am sure I can’t remember from the shock! And I just wanted to say that no matter how much I love my MIL, a month is still TOO LONG to share the same house. I could never stay for a month with my own mother! And I love her to death and we have an excellent relationship! I am sure that after a month we can say bye bye to that relationship! You are a brave woman!

I’ve never met my FIL, he died of lung cancer when my DH was 11yrs old and my MIL never remarried and she focused on her children and work to provide the best to them. And she did an excellent job. I admire her for that. My FIL was a famous actor in my country back then and so their kids brought up in a ‘fine arts appreciate environment’. From theatres to books, movies and gallery visits. And my MIL kept them both grounded (DH and SIL) but always kept a contact with their Dads passion for the Arts....both my DH and SIL are very fun, cool and lovable people to be around with :D

Maria- feeling better mama? :D

Hopethisworks- How was the u/s? when are you going to find out their gender? How exciting! :D

krysE- welcome pupo girl! :D There are NO official symptoms. One might feel cramping and its period coming or caused from the progesterone and another might cramping and that could be from implantation. If you feel that what you are feeling might be a pregnancy symptom then that’s it! 4 more days till your beta! Is on the 27th right? Good luck dear!

Fvrogers- OH MY!!! You are only a few days away from meeting your miracle baby!! How exciting! How are you feeling! Is everything ready? i wish you an easy delivery! with the first push to pop out! :D

Ninde- I hope you are enjoying your peace and quiet my friend! We all need and deserve to have our own time and space from each other. I find this boosting the relationship! Have you made plans to meet with friends? A nice dinner and a glass/bottle of wine with a friend it’s a successful recipe for chilling out and treating yourself! You make sure you do that! xoxo

AFM- I had a wonderful time in Malta! :D My feet still hurt from walking and my belly too!...from laughing! If we stayed a few more days I swear I would leave the country with a six pack! Malta is beautiful ....in most of the places... We took dozens of pictures, did a pit of shopping, walked a thousand miles!near the beach front...from one mall to the next  ...from one bar to the other  ...from the casino to the hotel etc and treat ourselves with gelato ice cream (Soft ice cream actually is my favourite but we wanted to try this one) yummy Italian pizza, p-e-r-f-e-c-t! angus steak!, delicious sea food pasta! :P we visited the Popey Village, took the Ferry and when to a small island across Malta and bought lovely souvenirs – Malta is famous for blowing glass art and stone sculpture- and the best of all was the spa massage at the Hotel. The best massage EVER! And I did massage plenty of times, it just beat my #1 favourite, the massage I had in Thailand. This was better than that!...funny thing, the masseur was a guy named Packy from Thailand! Full body massage was 60min (aromatherapy/stress relief/detox and 30min facial. We booked the spa appt for Sunday afternoon and so after that we got ready and went out for dinner and then we went at the Casino. We both like the idea of gambling  not much, just to say that we bet something  ...maybe because we don’t do it at home and we like the Casino atmosphere. So we agreed that we are not going to bet too much, just go for the fun of it. So, we played slot machines (they have new ones there and i have never seen that version!) and just before we leave we saved the best for last, blackjack.(my best is texas holdem) The big tables where the big games and we went just for fun and not to lose a fortune!  So I started with just 10 euro (min bet was 2) and left the Casino with 60! My BF won 30 and so we left the Casino winners. woohoo! not that we brought the winnings home, we bought stuff the next day at the mall

Needless to say I felt SO guilty having this trip while DH was working and in general working while I am unemployed and so I had a surprise for him  ...My BF DH and kids picked us from the airport and my DH met us at their place where we ordered Chinese, had dinner and we went home. I took a shower and then went to our bedroom holding a Relaxing Massage Oil that I bought from the Hotel Spa and I told him that it was his lucky night! I light up some candles and I gave him a 50min FULL body/head massage! :D He was speechless! 8) I told him that I wanted to bring some of the spa experience that I had and that I wanted him to get a taste of that. He deserves that from all the hard work his being doing and that is the least I can do to please him! Btw, I am an expert in doing massage   I massage his feet and his back very often but this one was special! I brought spa accessories with me this time and it was SO good that I got a treat after that...if you know what I mean    ...I couldn’t have a better welcome home than this!

I will post pics as soon as I download them!

Baby dust and sticky vibes to us all!

Anton, maybe I should do that! hah. They did get the money back already and I'm glad!! The company had similar numbers as my parents, BUT my parents account had 5/6 more, so I don't know. The bank won't tell them if it was theft or a mess up, but needing those extra sounds suspicious! Just glad they have it all back. My Mom was saying what good people they are and how wonderful my Dad is that he doesn't deserve that. I just told her it's because people that are strong and good have it happen because they can get through it. Glad you had a great time on your vacation!! How wonderful to do that for your DH too.

YAY!

Green light to start again ASAP!

I asked if we could switch back to Puregon (with the pen injection thingy) instead of the Menopur (which I have to reconsititute and is a pain in the butt) - and he said sure! I also mentioned that the Ganirelix stings and itches, so we are switching to Cetrotide instead.

As soon as AF shows up, I go for baseline on CD2. Yay!

Hi ladies

Amanda: that's great you got such a strong quick result!! How was your beta?

Christy: how long does us adoption take?

Lauren319: its really hard at this stage to believe all is ok but keep believing. What's your next step -u/s?

Tess: yay. How are you doing? :D that waiting must be tough. What does PAT stand for?

Cyn: great you got on board.

Leora: throat is just so odd. Today im wheezing like I am 90 and that has come on in the last hour!! Did you hear your entry to the eurovision? That's great your social visit went so well and they allow you to continue with ivf. We arnt allowed with adoption but as like you the process takes a minimum of 7 years I feel they have no right to say that so we just arnt telling them. It would be different if it was a quick process but it isnt. Is this short or long term fostering?im glad you are happy with your re meeting. I was on puregon for the last2 cycles and hospital suggested menopur this time? Apart from the awkwardness of the injections do you think there is much difference?

Anton: thank ypu, I've had friends over and its been lovely! Your holiday sounds amazing and so well deserved. And your dh will probably suggest you go away so you can come home again!!! :D

Gina: all good with you?

Maria and julia: how are you?

Kynlee: how was di her?

Hopethisworks: how was your u/s?

Afm: my friends mum died so I was at the funeral this morning. It was a glorious day here and the church was beside the sea so it was sad but lovely. Dh back on fri - as you know he isnt working due to his ms at the moment, so he looks after the house. If he ever tells me its not possible to keep it regularly tidy again I'll crown him - i have it really tidy since he has been gone and I've been working full time!!

Ninde, Yes things are good here just HOT and no AC in Germany. Yuck! It was still 80 after 8pm tonight. Last summer here at least!!

I'm sorry about your friends Mom, but glad you got to be there. I hope you feel better soon!

Amanda, NICE!! Sounds like two is a big possibility!

Leora, glad things went well with the adoption agency! Glad you got the go ahead to restart asap! That's great they are letting you change those medications too. I wish you lots of luck!

Congrats Amanda :D

Had another US today. Everything is going well!

Two heartbeats and everything coming great for both babies! Babues both measured 7 weeks 4 days. Heart rate 170bpm! So far all smooth except for last weeks spotting which has not returned :D

So where do I get these tickers? I think I'll be ready for one by te end of week 9 :D

Looks like twins is running in this family, wahoo Amanda and Hope this is very exciting!

Ninde- I'm sorry to hear about your friend's mum. The memorial sounded special out by the sea, I know it was so sad. Not sure how long adoption takes in the U.S. My best friend and her dh is on the wait list and they say it will be any day now, I really hope so for them since they started everything 2 yrs ago. First they did all the fingerprinting at the courthouse and someone didn't get the paperwork delivered to the agency so they had to start the whole process again. Then they decided they weren't happy with the first agency so they switched to one based in Georgia who is more aggressive with their search and helped her distribute 40 Life-books knowing the more they get out the better chance the biological mother will choose them. Just recently she got a call from her church's secretary who asked if they would be interested in taking in 2 girls. One is a toddler and the other around 8 months old. My best friend has a little girl named Hannah who is 9 and wants desperately to give her a sibbling but her new husband is not sure about have 2 new little ones but they don't want to separate the sisters either. Who could blame them, sisters need to stay together I just wonder if my friend would have complications with the family later on, hence why most prefer closed adoption. Soooo much catching to do with her next week when she comes down here for a visit, it's good that I know someone who is currently pursuing adoption.

Leora- I love your humor with the baby stroller, yes let's "babynap" for the top of the line brand stroller might as well! Makes me want to watch "Raising Arizona" all over again!

AFM: so sleepy, I think this 40 hour work week is going to make me age quickly. Ugh I'm already starting to see crow's feet.
Nothing else new, except cleaning and pulling together some things for an upcoming yard sale, held somewhere on the 8th for a family who lost everything in a housefire. Kynlee mentioned it on facebook, I'll ask her to share the details with you the next time she posts. G'night
