Success stories in early 40s

Post by Cookie43 »

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum. I recently turned 43 and have a 14 year old daughter. I'd love to have a child with my partner. I had my transfer 3 days ago at day 5 of one compacted morula and 1 good morula. I'd love to hear from people about success stories for the early 40s....I have a small window of opportunity to try and visits to the doctor are making me feel old! Here I was thinking I look and feel young! Little did I know that in procreation land at my age that doesnt mean much

I have SO much respect for all of you doing this. It's my first go and I am amazed at how taxing it is!

A friend and former colleague has a beautiful son that she conceived at age 43 via IVF. I'd say the fact that you made it to a 5 day transfer is an excellent sign. Best of luck!

Hi Cookie43

I am one of the over 40s success stories. I started IVF at 42, was successful at 43, on my 4th try, and gave birth to my DD at 44. This was my first and only pregancy and we used my own eggs. At the time of my treatment there was a very active 'over 40s' thread which I will update so that you can browse at your leisure.

I wish you every success with your journey and will 'pop' in to check your progress.

Thanks CarolineP! Being a lawyer I think I am a natural sceptic about stats....I was one of those fooled by seeing no end of celebrities popping out children in their 40s and thinking there is time.... I suspect a lot are using donor eggs? I don't know. That's a great option for many but already having a daughter I would love to use my own eggs. I would feel so lucky if this worked. I have been an absolute  to live with in the last month I'm sure! How did you conceive your daughter was it 2 blast transfer? And what is this "assisted hatching" I hear about? I am so new to this game.....

Hi Cookie43

This webite site lots of useful info on IVF under the infertility tab. I had a 3 day transfer without 'assisted hatching' - they can pierce a tiny hole in protective outer shell to aid implantation.

Hi Cookie!

I am another success story, and I also used to post on the "over 40" thread that Caroline recommended. I was 43 when I conceived and 44 when I delivered my twins last year with my own eggs. We also transferred 5 day morulas. It took us a few years to have that success....hope it all works for you on the first go-round! It can be stressful for sure. This forum has a lot of wonderful ladies with a lot of knowledge and they are a great support.

Will you POAS? (PeeOnAStick) with a home test? or are you "patiently" waiting for your beta results from the blood test?

Best of luck to you!!! Keep us posted! :D

Hi margi! Did you get pregnant with twins from 5 day morulas? I have read a few of your posts. Such great news for you and gave me a lot of hope.

I read a few of your earlier posts and I think you had 2 good blasties and 2 morulas. :D Unlikely that I'm going to be pregnant then as its undoubtedly your blasties that took off. I'm not really holding out much hope :|

cookie - don't lose hope! I transferred great blasts and had BFN cycles - but then my twin boys were both day 5 morulas (that's why we transferred both of them)! Morulas are fine - try not to obsess - you'll know if it worked soon enough!
8 IVF+6 FET=6 BFN+8 BFP =

-b/g twins 22w (12.09)
-mc 10w (9.10)

-mc 5wk (2.12)
-no HB at 18w (10.12)
-BO (4.13)-
-mc 6wk (9.13)

last attempt - donor sperm - baby girl born healthy July 2014

I did something REALLY dumb today. I did a home pregnancy test 6 days post transfer. BFN. Why did I do that? So unlike me. Call me crazy but I can't stand this waiting. Thing is, I know how unreliable those tests are at this stage but I was like a moth to the light....." I can't help iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit"

Thanks.....and then I tested again today....another BFN. I have kind of prepared myself now for the BFN on Monday. I know that sounds negative (pardon the pun) but its how I cope....
