Intro/Just started IVF officially!

Post by faithandgrace »

Hello everyone! Glad to find this site! I just turned 40 in April and just started my Lupron shots 3 days ago.I recieved a big box of drugs and needles that look super scary! At my last doctor's visit they showed me how to administer the lupron shots. I was so nervous and had my husband do them. I didnt feel a thing! I go back to the doctor on the 2nd so they can have me start my stims. (and to explain what the heck I do with all these other needles) some of them look so big I am freaking out! I will have my husband do all of them. Thank God he used to be a paramedic and says he has some experience with needles. (still very nervous though). Are they as bad as they look? One of them is an 18 gage. It looks HUGE!

Anyway, can someone be kind enough to post what all these abbreviations mean. I feel like a dummy. I really cant figure them out. I do know that BCP means birth control pill. (but only cause I asked!)

Thanks so much, and good luck to everyone!! :D

Hi, there is a comprehensive list in the 'General Forum' on page 10 of 'abbreviations definitions'.

Good luck with your IVF journey.

HA-HA! This brings me back to my needle-pocking days, Lol! My wife is terrified of needles, so having to stick needles in her thigh was brutal. Honestly, I think that's why the first two IVF cycles were unsuccessful, because she stressed so much about the needles.

I remember one time, she prepared her syringe but forgot to change the needle. So, here I come, ready to stick her and I didn't check the needle tip. Next thing you know, I'm pulling out the needle from her thigh and a gaping hole was left. Lol. She started screaming and bleeding. Oops!

Make sure to check the needle at all times, even if you think you're partner's done it already.
Blessings,
Josh
