Frozen Transfer

Hello. Looking for any advice/experience on a frozen transfer. I went through one IVF cycle and had two beautiful babies, and I am looking to have a third. We would like to only transfer one embryo. I am starting to panic as the time is coming closer. Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks!!

Frozen transfers are. Much easier on the body then fresh as you ll find out. In most clinics frozen success rates are slightly worse than fresh. You could transfer two for that reason. However, with your success history I could see why you would want to avoid twins. So maybe transfer one. If you get a bfn you can always transfer another one in a another FET. They aremuch easier on the body and cost less.

Hi Karin! Are you the Karin I cycled with before??

We are looking at doing the same thing, and only transferring one as well. Since we lost one of our twins, I do not want to risk it again, or risk weeks on end in a NICU like we endured with our little sweetie. She is great thankfully, but I feel it's not worth the risk. My RE is letting me do an unmedicated cycle, which is much less invasive all the way around. They don't normally do them this way. Normally it's lupron, and a hcg trigger, then progesterone support.

We have 3 frozen embyos, 1, day 5 blast frozen by itself, that is according to them, an absolutely perfect 4AA, and 2, day 6 blasts that are a 4AB and 4BB quality, which is also quite good, that are frozen together. It's not easy to decide how and when, but we are starting to think we better get on it, since I will be 37 in just a few months...

I will be doing a FET and only transferring one. I don't want twins. I have 3 frozen embryo's. I feel if one of them is going to make a baby then it will eventually be transferred and make a baby.. Just might take 3 transfers. If we have to do 3 transfers it will cost around $11,000, which is much cheaper in the long run then having twins. It is just time that i will be wasting with only transferring one at a time. . I have never done a FET cycle but my DE cycle was the same protocol. A lot easier then a fresh cycle.

Hi Mellow - good to see you again! I cycled with you, too and followed your story on the PAT board. I am so glad everything worked out in teh end but it was pretty scary. I forgot the reason your baby girl came early and was in NICU - was that due to twins?

i have 4 frozen embies left - they are 3 day embies frozen in twos. if i can convince my husband to transfer then in a year or a year and a half, then i think i'll do 2 transfers - two embies each. but that's because my embies are 3day embies. so my chance of twins with those is negligible. given my past history - i only have a 25% shot of a baby out of those 4 embies anyway.

Yes, she came early because Twin A had a problem with how the placenta formed, and where the cord inserted to the placenta. We didn't know there was a problem until I was 21 weeks along, and twin A was 2 weeks behind in her growth. She was always the bigger baby just a couple weeks before. So what ended up happening was that she wasn't getting proper blood flow or oxygen and she died at about 23 weeks. I carried them for 2 more weeks with no issues and then all hell broke loose. My body recognized the demise and started labor. I was admitted at 25 weeks, and they were able to control labor. A week later, I delivered our baby Claire that afternoon and watched in scared amazement as Marlo, Twin B, reached for her as she was being delivered...scared to death that I would deliver her as well. Since the girls placenta's fused, I was unable to deliver the placenta, which meant the umbilical cord stayed attached as well. I got 5 more days under my belt, and had to deliver Marlo at 26 weeks 5 days because of infection from the first delivery. It was so scary. Marlo spent 17 weeks and 2 days in the NICU, and every bit of it was nerve wracking, and frightening. We had just lost a baby boy at 8 days old a year before she was born. That is why I will not risk twins again. It's too scary. I could have lost both babies, and my life was in jeopardy as well from the infection. So thats it in a nutshell.

Wow, Mellow, what a story! I can't believe you ve been through all that. I am so glad Marlo is doing well now. Wow!
This cycle I started out with twins and one passed away at 6 weeks. While I was a little sad, I also realized that the remaining baby had a much safer pregnancy ahead of her.
Well, all is well that ends well. I am so glad it worked for Marlo and you!
