Wondercat- I never had any issues with with my first two pregnancies, but I was in my 20's then. With my DS (IVF) my blood pressure started to go up around 20 weeks and OB started me on BP meds. At 30 weeks I went on bed rest for it, trying to keep it down. I also lost all feeling in my right arm, left hand, blurred vision, and had no taste at all. At 33 weeks the headache hit and by 35 it was a full blown migraine. I was in the hospital twice during this mess to monitor me and get it back down to a safe BP. At 35 weeks it was 200/ over something. So they induced me for 29 hours and then took him c-section. At that point, I was done and wanted all the drugs they could give me. OB says it is my age and will start me on baby aspirin at my first appt. My chances of it happening again are high. I also gained a pound a week, plus more during the whole thing(40 lbs), but lost all of it 8 days after birth. So we know it was all water retention. BP is back to normal and OB even jokes it is so low you would think I was 16.

I worked the last ten years after my daughters were in school, but am home again with my DS. My 17 year old is a great help and has chores to pay for her insurance and cheer, but she graduates early in January and will leave in late April if she gets into the spring/summer semester at school. She is ready to spread her wings. I will miss her a ton. So the nanny will be a must if I go on bed rest. I have no family up here. They are all in TX and NM. I do have a wonderful support system of church ladies who will step in and help till we get it all figured out. They are the best.

Always a book with me. :D Life really is an interesting journey. Even with the all day sweats...LOL.. :? ...I find this IVF technology fascinating. It never ceases to amaze me.

Ninde- Welcome! Glad you could join us. Thank you for your condolences. One day at a time. How are you doing on menopur? Does it have many side effects?

AFM- Yesterday was last day of BCP. I do not like how my body acts on them. Glad to be off. Now just 10mg Lupron till the 25th and start patches. I have found an "Icee" is great for the hot flashes. I just have to run a bit longer to have one every so often. Also, it is something my DH can do for me. He loves them too.

Suzyq: I havnt actually started on menopur yet, im down regulating from today using a nasal spray which we use in ireland. Baseline is aug 8 and I would imagine I'll start stimming with menopur then. Are the patches estrogen?

Taressa- It was a bit scary, but I was too dumb at the time to worry about it. That pregnancy dumb thing had taken over by then. Mostly I was pretty calm and enjoyed the bed rest due to the fact after having two babies before (16 years earlier)I knew my life was about to turn upside down. And it did, but who knew have the right husband this time would make it ten times easier.

Ninde- Yes the patches are estrogen. Sounds like your on a new protocol. Did you change clinics too? I have heard people change if they are not successful after so many cycles. I have a friend who has had 3 BFN's. Her clinic sounds awful, yet she still goes back.

AFM- Not really any new news. Just counting the days till Wednesday and we will see then. Also, counting the days till my oldest daughter (21) comes on the 30th. She will fly in for a week from DC where her and her DH are working for the summer. Then back to school. Looking forward to several mother daughter outings.

Morning ladies

Suzyq: Yes, different protocol because although I responded well on the first one, I didn't respond so well on the second and only had 5 eggs, now 4 fertilised which was good but only 2 made it to two day transfer. They were going to wait for a day three but there wasn't a lot of point as they only had 2 B grade ones anyway. In what way is your friend's clinic awful? So your transfer is the 16th?

Sorcet: Thanks a million :) Your transfer is the 13th? Then you will be about a week ahead of me. Are you a POAS person or do you wait? :)

Afm: Not much to report, started the down regulator 'sniffer/nasal spray' on Sat so trying to drink three litres of water. It was warm here last night (unusual for Ireland!) so I don't know if it was just that or that plus the down regulation but wow the hot flushes were really strong!

Hi ladies! I'm happy to say I was so busy all weekend I didn't so much as look at my computer let alone turn it on, hence the "radio silence" from me!

This morning was my baseline ultrasound. It was at 7:15am in Boston which if I lived in a vacuum would be an hour drive. This particular morning it took 2.5 hours, which included a maximum dead stop of 21 solid minutes in an HOV lane. We finally got there and I think everything looked great. I say "I think" because as soon as she started the exam DS started crying until he was perched on the exam table next to me. In his defense, he has been sick and we had to wake him up at 4:45am. That and after that drive I felt a little bit like crying myself... Started my estrogen patches today.

General comment: Aren't those hot flashes just THE BEST?!?!?

Ninde - I forget - are you doing a fresh cycle?

Ninde - Also I will respond here because the other board is so busy... That's really great that you work with those suicide risk groups. It has been an interest of mine since I had a cousin commit suicide 3 years ago. I will never forget shopping for something appropriate to wear to a funeral while 6 months pregnant. It must be very difficult to handle as a professional & I give you a lot of credit for that!

Ninde- My friends clinic seemed very harsh and abrasive. She would share how rough the docs and nurses were. Sounded like a sterile non-inviting environment. She also had a tubal pregnancy and instead of terminating immediately, they told her to starve it to death. She was not allowed to eat for three days. I never heard of such a thing. Well, it ruptured and she lost both tubes. It was quite the ordeal to heal from. She did do an FET later with them at no charge (trying not to get sued is my guess) and had a DS. They are getting ready for cycle 3, but going to a new clinic.

I think when we are paying the big bucks like we are, we should get not only the best medical care possible, but all the TLC to go along with it. I love my clinic. They greet me by name, make me as comfortable as possible, and do everything possible to elevate the stress of IVF. Not to mention having a great success rate of course.

Wondercat -Kudos on the weekend and lining. I feel for your DS. Hate traffic as well.

AFM-The crazy mama Kodiak grizzle bear in me came out yesterday to play. I had to bite my tongue all day to not say the wrong thing. My poor DH could not even look at me or say anything that I did not want to snap his head off for. Despise not being in control of my actions. The killer hot flashes helped the whole situation ohhhh so much!! Luckily it is a new day and peace seams to have returned. :D The sun is out and I am going to sun and jump in the lake when the heat rises.

suzyq - That sounds awful (your friend's clinic)! Not sure I would have stayed with them at all, free cycle or not. Starving a tubal pregnancy to death sounds insane! I had one doctor who took out her bad mood at my being late for an appointment by sticking an u/s probe into me like she was stuffing a turkey. It came dangerously close to crossing the line between a medical exam and rape. I immediately called my nurse, and told her if I so much as saw that doctor again I would be filing a formal complaint with the hospital. Haven't seen her since. The unbelievable thing is all the other nurses I have mentioned this to without naming names know exactly who I am talking about. It's amazing to me that doctors can get away with this sh*t, as you say - like IVF isn't stressful enough! I am glad she moved to a different clinic for their next attempt.

Wondercat-I understand your feelings on the u/s. I had a similar experience with a tech. Unfortunately, when I went to the desk to complain the doc defended her. I was about 12 weeks pregnant and spotting. I was horrified. I called my ER and they immediately took me in and repeated the u/s to make sure the previous one created no damage. I wrote the OB and clinic a letter explaining everything and never heard a word. I changed OBs. It is scary what they can get away with. I went on line later and read several complaints about the u/s tech.

AFM- U/s went well. Lining was good. Decrease Lupron tonight and start patches. Here we go. Still on date for 8/16. Will go back next two Thursdays for next appts.

Oh, I am totally a POAS kind of gal. Not the kind that buys like 1,000 tests and takes one every hour on the hour. But I will probably buy some and do probably 3 between when something should show up and my first beta. My RE doesn't do their first beta very early so I am dying of impatience long before then. :)
