This 2 ww is going better than last time but still maddening....
I am due to get my period Monday and this will be 2 weeks after egg collection (ovulation). I had my transfer on Saturday 11th August so it's now been 5 days...when do you think is the earliest I should POAS? I was thinking tomorrow? That will be 6 days pas a 5 day transfer...

Cookie-Just crashing I am not over 40 but wanted you to know you have cheerleaders routing you on... This journey is tough but I looked to God for Comfort for each BFN & now got my BFP... Stay hopeful I have read many success stories with over 40 and it only takes that one to stick I dont know how many days you have to wait to POAS I didnt do any I chose to be tortured each cycle and wait 2 weeks Best of Luck I will be checking in to see your results Sending prayers your way

I did a POAS this morning at 4.24am because I am a OCD'd masochist who can't control myself. After 3 minutes up came the glaringly black letters and those 2 familiar words: NOT PREGNANT.

Sure, it's only 6dp5dt but....

Who am I kidding, most of you are too young to know that film....

And this clinic on the phone talking about doing a back-to-back cycle....
Has anyone done this? My last clinic wouldn't allow it.
What's your experience?

Cookie- Forgot those pregnancy sticks and stay positive girl I praying big time for you to get your BFP... As for stomach cramping and A/F symptoms I felt the same and thought for sure I was getting her and when I went for the Beta I said to the nurse I already know its negative and to my surprise it was a BFP beta of 143 so you cant go by what you are feeling As for back to back cycles, I did my fresh then a frozen the following month which got cancelled and rescheduled for the following but my clinic does back to back so I think it is normal..

I got my period today so no luck round 2.

I think I am better this time....kind of expected it at my age. I am upset, but I am a bit philosophical.

I had a glass of wine tonight and I am planning the next steps. I have asked a couple of clinics whether they would consider transferring more than 2 embryos if I do another round. They probably won't agree....Australia is extremely conservative when it comes to assisted reproduction. Commercial surrogacy is illegal (even if planned overseas) it is a criminal offence. There is no such thing as anonymous donation here either.

I looked at my lovely daughter tonight. So glad I had her when I was 29.

How the years go by....

I met my partner at 36 but there was always a problem for us having children. Most of it involved third parties weighing in on our plans to have more children. Even DH's mother called my mother at one stage and said that she "didn't think we should have any more children"...all because she was only interested in DH's daughter, not any new children which DH and I might consider having together. It was always all about the past and never about the future.

What I have learned from all of this is that you should always do what is right for you. Prioritise YOUR feelings about having a family because as we know, we can never take it for granted that we will be able to build a family when we feel that it is finally the "right" time.

cookie- so sorry Will you be switching RE's and trying again? I had to go back and forth with my clinic but in the end I won and they put 3 embies back and that is how I got my BFP. I hope you can find someone that will it will surely up your chances.

I am so very sorry. I was really hoping for your success!

We have the same issues in New Zealand--it is all government regulated. 2 is the most they will let me put back as well--which is ridiculous considering my age and history.

I am glad that you have your beautiful daughter already. But I understand why you want another dear baby with your new partner.

oops posted before I was ready!

I am trying to focus on my daughter now too. But I still feel like I want another baby--a brother and sister for her. I feel so lucky to have her--I love her so much--but cant stop this yearning for another!

Do you think you will try again? Your numbers were so good for our age group! And your embies sounded fantastic. I really thought you were going to get lucky. I am struggling with the idea of trying again--not sure I can handle any more loss--but cant shake that desire for a baby.

I pointed this ridiculous correlation to 2 REs yesterday. On one breath they tell you that there is a less than 5 per cent chance of success at 43 and in the next breath they tell you that they will not put back more than 2 because of the risk of multiple births. This is a ridiculous comment for a 43 year old. And even for younger women, the risk of twins with a transfer of more than 2 is only 9.3% and risk of triplets 2%. Nearly 90% of all transfers involving multiple embryos result in a singleton, where a live birth results at all. I am not making this data up, I am relying on THEIR data as reported to the Australian government.

I also incorrectly assumed that doctors insurers were interfering in the process by telling their members not to take risks, but I am assured that this is not the case...so why then do these seemingly professional people insist on applying a one size fits all approach? One can't help but put it down to the commercial incentives of Australian clinics in keeping you as a return customer rather than giving you the best possible chance of a pregnancy!

We have decided to do 4 rounds so I am now half way through. I have written to the clinics here and requested that they transfer more than 2 embryos given the statistics and limited risks in my age bracket. I am not expecting a positive response...they are so conservative.

At this stage, all options are open. I will consider each as they arise. If the clinics come back and say no, I may go overseas...but will cross that bridge when I come to it. I may even consider donor eggs IF I have satisfied myself that I can't use my eggs and I still feel compelled to have more children...but I am not at that stage yet. Plus, I ave a great job so it's a big decision to go back to nappies again when I am over those bumps with DD. so not sure if I would do the donor egg thing...

I have not seen anyone get pregnant at 44 on these forums through ivf...so I am mindful that time is running out...

Hello all. I have been diagnosed with a chromosome translocation and I was told that I could only have a child through ivf with pgd. I would like to have a child with my partner. We have been married seven years and have had four miscarriages. I am starting to not have hope. Does anyone know of any clinical trial that I could benefit from. I don't just have $10,000.00 to have the procedure done and if I did I would need to moolah to raise the child(ren). Any help is appreciated.
