Best USA clinics for over 42s PLEASE HELP

Post by Cookie43 »

Hi everyone

You may have been following my thread on over 40s....
I am at my wits end here in Australia. No one will transfer more than 2.

SO I am coming to the States...I want to be in a position to say that I tried everything I could....

I was thinking of the centre for human reproduction in NYC. Has anyone used them? I can't find their stats on SARTs website.

I looked at Colorado but they want me to travel there twice! I'm in Sydney and I'm a corporate lawyer so a bit difficult.

Margi26 I know you went to SCRC....you're my poster girl of hope ...your input most welcome.

I would dearly appreciate anyone's views on this as I really don't have time to wait....

Look forward to hearing from you....
Cookie :)

Hi Cookie,

I can recommend Coastal Fertility http://www.coastalfertility.com/
in California (near LA) the RE has very good ratings and they have an oversees programm, too. Mainly with Germany and Austria so they are used to having patients from abroad.

SART 2010 https://www.sartcorsonline.com/rptCSR_P ... cPKID=2172

check out his website or better call them. They are all wonderful.

And they do more than 2 - depending on the situation

I was at CCRM in Colorado and listened to them on the phone with overseas patients quite frequently. I'm not sure if you called them or just looked at their website. I know they do insist on doing their own pre-cycle workup so maybe that's it? If you haven't called them you should just to make sure. They know their stuff.

Good luck! I know Ghost has recommended some other clinics in the past - maybe he can help you out.

Thanks ladies. Yes CCRM wants me to go there twice and that's not an option. I have already had all of the tests they want done again and in my view that's too inflexible...

Boy, it ain't easy....

It's looking like Southern California. I have seen the dr there on a few videos and I like his manner.

The Centre for Human Reproduction want $450 for the first telephone call....get serious. They will not be getting my business.

The other option is to keep doing 2 by 2 in Australia...and relying on an embryologists subjective opinion about which embryo is going to make a baby. (don't get me started on the lack of science behind that exercise) lets hope it's not the same scientist who misdiagnosed my pap smear 18 months ago...

Cookie - no advice, just wanted to sympathize -- here in Israel there are strict rules on how many embryos you can transfer -- and I'm allowed to transfer only one at a time. Major suckitude. I know twin pregnancies are less than ideal, but multiple BFN cycles suck too.
8 IVF+6 FET=6 BFN+8 BFP =

-BO (4.13)-
-mc 6wk (9.13)

I have only wonderful things to say about my experience at SCRC..as many folks here know, I traveled across the US to go there to get my Cali babies, but that would be nothing next to your journey!!...I think they have a fabulous lab which I think is a really important feature: especially at our "advanced age". The doctors and nurses were all fabulous: Experienced, pleasant, courteous and responsive. I think this is a terrific option for you!! (and if you decide to go I can even give you suggestions on where to stay). I will PM you!!!

This sort of story always interests me as you just never know when they are using donor eggs...

Collette Dinnigan is a very well known Australian fashion designer and apparently tried IVF for years before conceiving at 46....naturally....

I am not so sure....

Thanks for the sympathy. I was so upset that they just threw the last lot of remaining embryos out. They have an ethical dilemma about transferring more than 2 but they don't have an ethical dilemma about throwing them away when they don't fit their "freezing criteria"

Well.....my plans for treatment in the USA have hit a roadblock. I can't find an insurer who is willing to cover me for medical treatment in the USA. Lloyds of London will apparently do it for $100,000!

Because I am not an expat, I wouldn't be covered by the type of insurance which I could get here to cover me there.... :(

This process bites at every turn

Shoot!! :( Sorry Cookie...

I was looking into programs abroad (outside USA) at one point when our insurance was capped (cap was later lifted). I would be happy to share with you what I found. Ukraine was one place as was Greece. Believe it or not, Israel is one of the top sites and fairly affordable...I think I posted about it a few years ago on this site...let me know if you would like more information.

Had my phone appointment with SCRC. Have to say that the answers were the same as the Aussie doctors...weren't even willing to commit to transferring more than 2 embryos so really....what's the point? Have decided to do the next and final 2 cycles in Australia and then reassess. Not sure if I would use donor eggs....

Most insurance plans dont cover here. I am looking out of the US . Have you tried New Hope. Im not sure about age specialization but the price is good and I have heard good things. Im just curious as to why you want to do in USA when it is more expensive and regulated here. I am here and looking for clinics elsewhere because with no fertility insurance coverage it costs 10-25 thousand per cycle including meds. Most clinics try to limit number transferred . I am looking at czech or india because they will transfer as maby as you want. I dont want to keep going through cycles ,I would rather risk multiples. This will be my first try and I am reading this and worrying because I dont want to be a wreck a year trying many cycles. I am almost 39 ,close to 40 &would appreciate any info or advice. If you find a clinic let me know .
