Since the age of 15 i was told I had polcystic ovarian syndrome, I didn't know what that meant, and still not 100% clear about it now. Me and my partner have been trying to concieve naturally for two years, with no luck but alot of heartache each time the pregnany test show negative. I went to see my GP who put me on medication to see If I was ovualting we did this for one month and found i wasn't. I am now being reffered for a scan to check all is well then I am being reffered to a gynocology doctor. I have heard many woman go on clomid but I dont know what will happen with me. I am teriffied of never being a mother and dont feel like a natural woman because of this. I watch people with their children and get so upset. Can I concieve and be able to hold my baby in my arms with PCO's please help me!

Hello Natalie

Welcome to the site. It would be better if you posted this message on the general forum as it is busier and you will get more response.

There are lots of women on here who have conceived with PCOS so don't worry too much. There are so many things that doctors can do these days.

I can't conceive naturally as my tubes got damaged when I was younger after a routine appendix operation. I had them removed after my 1st treatment. It is hard watching friends and jo public getting pregnant and holding theit babies and all the time you have to put on a brave face and look happy. I seem to have friends who only think about getting pregnant and wham they are expecting after their first attempt. It is so frustrating. But what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. You have to have faith in the doctors and try to be positive. You don't say how old you are.

Clomid makes you produce more eggs each month so you have a better chance of conceiving. Some women get side affects some don't. If you have PCOS your ovaries have cysts on them which prevents or hinders the egg from being released.

I hope you get more answers when you see your gynaecologist. Write a list of everything you want to know or are not sure of as it's hard to remember when you get there. Write down any relevent answers too.

Good luck with it all. Praying we will all hold our own babies in our arms one day.

Love Dagny xkx

pcos

Natalie,

I have pcos (diagnosed only 2 yrs ago - your lucky!) and finally conceived in march while taking injections (gonal FSH).

Clomid did nothing for me, metformin helped with insulin resistance and ovarian cysts, but was still not ovulating every month. Also, the quality of the egg is important (not just whether you ovulate) because I conceived 3 yrs ago naturally, but miscarried due to not having been treated for PCOS.

Go to a good doctor, get a full workup and don't be afraid to go to the next step. I'm 39, Iso went to injections, but if you have some time to concieve, clomid and avandia might work.

Most of all, do research PCOS - there is a ton of info on-line.

Good luck!

hi. I just came across your message whilst browsing the site, so I thought I'd reply to you. I noticed that you posted a few months ago, so I don't know if this will be of help to you now, but you never know!!!

I was told when I was younger that I had possible PCOS, but it wasn't confirmed until I got pregnant and had a miscarriage.... great... NOT!!!

I just had to have surgery to remove both of my tubes (been off work for three weeks so far... I AM SO BORED!!!) , so I know that I will definately need to have IVF treatment, but I know exactly how you feel about wanting a baby...

My partner already has two children, and it's real hard when things don't go according to plan with you - yet everyone around you seems to just be able to get on with it. I was half way through my cycle monitoring at my local hospital when they found out that I only ovulate sometimes... and that my tubes were a bit rubbish...

I had clomide to see if that worked for me, and at that point it did, so I guess that was a good sign in the sense of trying to conceive naturally, but obviously, with hindsite, I guess that it was a waste of time for me!!!

I don't know how far your tretment has come since you first posted, but hopefull it's all gone ok. I have an appointment to see my consultant in a few weeks, so I don't know what's ahead for me until then...

But one can only hope that they tell me what I want to hear...

Hi Nes, I hope your feeling alright after your surgery. I do not have pcos but I have an ovary problem, as I respond poorly to the stimulation drugs. Tubes not any good either. Had a few ivfs but failed possibly due to egg quality. I took a two year break from ops and ivf, but now :D am back to try and do something new. Like a lot of the girls here, we still always hope. You look after youself, love Jjj x
