Meg- WELCOME to the craziness IVF entails but I'm glad you found us and I look forward to getting to know you. Oh wow Chicago, I've been there twice for dh's work functions. We stayed at the Palmer House and after he had his 10 minute presentation we toured the amazing city!! Other then getting nearly ran over by a taxi, and feeling small next to those gigantic buildings Chicago is fabulous with so much culture and you never run out of things to do there, and did I mention the shopping! I loved the downtown area and following up with dinner at Andy's Jazz Club or Lawry's....ahhh makes me want to go back! Wow I have so much to tell you being that our protocal is very simular to being the same meds and all. My clinic recommended me to order the Gonal-F through Freedom pharmacy to save us money but with everything else such as the Lupron, Doxycycline, Diodiazepam, Novarel, Progesterone oil and Vivelle patches I went through MDR it's based all the way out in California. My clinic let me purchase the menupur through them to save me money on that. You'll need to get everyone's insight on the best pharmacy to order through in saving money but I was happy with MDR, and Freedom and the turnaround time was quick. For the Gonal F-- I wanted to also tell you to ask about the rebate offer when you order, rebate is good until December 31, 2012. I'll send you the link Blueeyedreamer (a good friend on this forum) orginally sent me in a little bit. Anyway I know I tend to ramble, but more then anything wanted to tell you, you'll going to LOVE this forum, it's full of such wonderful support!

Hyb- Hello and Welcome to the group as well! A little advice I would give you is be cautiously optimistic only because I wish more then anything someone had told me that going into IVF for the first time, you want more then anything for it to work the first time and SOMETIMES it does but not always so this is why it's good to be cautiously optimistic. But with me I didn't get it I thought oh I spend all this money and this doctor will make my miracle happen. Most girls don't realize it takes more then one try though, I'm only telling you this not to be mean but to be realistic. With injections I can not stress to anyone enough the injection site is painless if it's numbed first, ice-packs works pretty good with tightening the skin making the needle go in smoothly- but always pinch up the skin first. Most clinics will walk you through injections but they still take some practice, after a few weeks they get much easier. I remember going into my first IVF and feeling more lost then anything with all the meds and trying to figure out the tentative schedule, but if you have any questions whatsoever just ask away. I wish you the very best and remember you're never alone in this journey, we're always here for you! :D

Tawny- Any sign of AF yet, I'm dancing for you so she'll come before Friday!
Image

Patricia- I've been yacking so much over here, how are you doing? What did you ever find out about the clinic and the testing? Absolutely, I hear you girl...calm and gentle are two different things...We deserve to express how we feel but be gentle with ourselves at the same time. I know my strength comes from many of you ladies here giving me support and helping me let go of the drama and not worrying about anyone here being judgemental certainly helps. I thought about what you said last night with armoring myself which actually today I mentally tried it and that felt like protection, like nothing could break through me, I walked into work in a better mood and more content thinking we can make this day whatever we choose to make it so I told my boss outloud that this is going to be a good day and it was, we had our sales plan in by 3:00 and there was positive energy!! When the pg coworker came in later this afternoon, she was respectful to me and we both seemed at peace on the salesfloor, well at least we could be civilized anyway. I got to talk to my DM about my IVF and she was really interested in hearing all the details, I thought wow if she only knew how the hormones play into all this. lol
Image

Pocos- Your dream must of been comforting and so real knowing her presence is with you. Grandmother's are God's special people and she is here with you in this journey and watching over you and may her presence bring you much peace. More then anything I'll be praying for you girl! I'm very excited TOMORROW is your big day!!!! I cannot wait to hear all the details, rest up mama!
Image

Wondercat- Where are you? ImageI'm thinking you start cycling around Thanksgiving but starting Lupron sometime soon? :D

AFM: My ovaries right now feel like they're having a party! Appointment early in the morning, grow follicles grow!
I found out today dh has a job interview with a college somewhere close to Raleigh, NC coming up in 2 weeks! Talk about timing with the IVF Attain Program, Ha go figure..THIS is huge news for me to deal with, but shouldn't worry until they actually seem interested and making him an offer. God has perfect timing for everything that happens so for now let His lighthouse lead us in the right direction. Much Love- Christy

Christy, yikes! You have been thru the ringer. I'm glad you survived the shower. I still totally disagree with bosshog's insistence that you go. Between your hormones and pg's hormones, I'm worried you two are headed for a big blowout. It sounds like the tension is building. I wish you peace as you get thru the rest of her pregnancy and time at work. Good luck with the cycle.

Patricia, your RE annoys me but also sounds a lot like mine. Mine isn't very radical or ambitious unless there is good solid data to support the treatment.

Hybyrnzy, welcome. Take it one day at a time. I'm glad you aren't feeling stressed. What is your protocol?

Meg, welcome. Why did you have a lap? I've had two, both for endometriosis and the latter one was quite extensive. As for meds, I've always found Freedom to be the best for my meds. Like Christy said, there is a company rebate on gonal and cetrotide. It really depends on your specific meds, but call around and get prices. Also, tell them you are shopping around and some will price match. MDR was $1000 more than Freedom for mine, but I use a lot of gonal. Ivfmeds.com is a company in Europe that has great prices and my clinic ok'd using them. I have friends that use them too. I couldn't because I didn't have enough time and there was a shortage on cetrotide.

Pocos, yay for trigger!

Sorry I've been quiet lately! I've been busy and tired. I did another half marathon this weekend. It went well. We are going to do the Seattle Marathon next month. I will do the half and dh will do the full. Our FET is on hold for a couple of months till we pay off the balance and I am mentally ready to go thru it again.

Wow sunshine that was alot to read lol but thanks so much for the dancing penguin. I did have some spoting this morning so I'm crossing my fingers that it keeps coming. It's amazing how much a couple drops of blood can really purk up my morning!!!!! I'm dancing for joy inside! :D

Wow we have some newbies welcome. I'm working on my second round of IVF thanks giving weekend hopefully. Besides you two I think I'm the newest at this. I really stressed last time about the calender I thought if it didn't go as planed that it was a disaster and truth is you can't focus on that it only makes you crazier lol. Words of advice don't tell alot of people especialy if they are going to tell alot more people; telling people that it didn't work is pretty dang hard. The DH isn't always the best person to do the injections just like the girls said you'll get the hang of it. My DH tried but would push to hard and bruise me then felt really guilty for hurting me. After about 2 days I would just go away from him and do it alone it made things so much easier between us. What else??? hmm be patient it's really tiring on your emotions but try not to make it hard on your relationship you need DH support more than anything. This group is a great source for support as well it got me through my last round with all the crazy questions and panics that the hubby just didn't get.

Meg734 and Hbyrnzy-- By the way I'm Tonya or Tawny whatever you want to call me. I go to a clinic in Champaign Illinois my IVF doc goes to the clinic once a week and does his work out of Indianapolis so I go there for my proceedures. His name is Dr. Jarrett he's an awsome doctor very optimistic. I get my meds from Apothecary Pharmacy 314-227-2560 I'm not sure on prices my insurance is awsome. My protocal seems to be different then alot of the girls on here and much different then yours Meg. As soon as I get my new protocal I'll let ya'll know what it is. Last time it was just Lupron, Meopur, and Bravelle but he said we needed to tweek it a little this time.

Pocos--- I'm really praying for you today good luck!!!

Yeah where is Woundercat??????

Ninde – Thanks! Everything went well today, they got 16 eggs, I hope at least 8 mature and I will be happy 

Meg734 – Welcome! CCRM is great, you are in very good hands. I got my medicines for my 3 IVFs at Apothecary by Design but my insurance covered everything.

Hbyrnzy – Welcome! What is your protocol! Good luck! 

Sunshine – Thanks dear, everything went well, they got 16 eggs. I hope at least half of those are mature so we can maybe have a day 5 transfer this time. How was your ultrasound and blood work today? I’ll be praying for your husband’s job interview, hopefully we all will have some good news soon 

Nicole – Nice to hear from you! Glad everything is ok with you and your hubby 

Tawny – Thanks girl! So happy AF is finally here for you! Today was a big day for you and me haha. Maybe the full moon is helping us.

AFM – Back from ER, they got 16 eggs, I hope I have 8 mature so we can try a day 5. My doctor asked if
I would donate my immature eggs and bad embryos for a research they are doing at Yale, and I was like ok, I signed the consent forms. They would be discarded anyways, so why not help? The retrieval went well, I was awake the whole time, but didn’t have pain. Yesterday I was talking to my father and he mentioned that we are in the full moon phase now and that’s when they do artificial insemination in cows (my family has farms in Brazil) because that’s when they have the highest pregnancy rates, I hope the moon helps us humans too! My ER and ET will be in the full moon phase ;) I'll come back tomorrow with the fertilization report!

Pocos- 16 EGGS is wonderful and hopefully the full moon phase will impact your BFP, I really hope so! I cannot believe they didn't put you to sleep for the retrieval they gave me a sedative last time and slept through the whole thing, you must have a wondering surgeon to experience no pain, that's so good girl. I'm glad you are doing well keep us posted with report tomorrow.

Tonya- That is awesome AF came and now you can get things really going! :D Yippee times three ha apparently I'm already thinking triplets? lol but I am very excited that you are cycling soon! Hehe I do get carried away in my "novel" sometimes...

Nicole- Thank you, space between me and pg coworker is the only way to make it and I told dh she only has around 60 days left maybe sooner since she looks like she's about to pop so I'll hang in there and just ignore her crap and not ask for any more drama updates. I have plenty to keep myself preoccupied and might even get a mini trip to NC soon if dh gets the job offer. I hope you have a great time this weekend with your costume marathan, goodness I need last minute ideas for my neighbor down the street's party...any fun suggestions? I thought I might try to design something to wear like Reese's or Hershey's bar.
This morning I was listening to Rick and Bubba talk show and they were talking about sexy costumes and listeners were calling in venting how some women "try" yet end up just looking like a whore, one girl wore a thong with pasties it was provoking but had me laughing and the police car who escorted me unintentionally to the clinic probably looked in his rear view mirror wondering what this girl was laughing at! hehe So I need a "tasteful" looking halloween costume for Saturday night and dh will be the last person I ask! He mentioned dress a schoolgirl zombie somehow that doesn't sound appropriate if you know what I mean...lol

Maria- How are you doing?

AFM: SnS this morning...lining thickness 7.3, have 4 follies on the right with 1 on the right all measuring around 12mm. I know they usually trigger around 16-18 so I have a few more days of the meds. Nurse will call me this afternoon with followup from this morning's visit.

Update: Clinic has me continuing meds, said to come back on Saturday 8am for another check. Since my sattelite office is closed I'll drive to Mobile, Al for appt. need to allow 4 hrs so will have to find someone to switch shifts with me. Said I might even have to come back on Sunday. I wish I could just stay in Mobile overnight and not have to drive back and forth would make it easier but I would have to muscle up courage to do these shots I have before but not crazy about the needles. The earliest I could go in for transfer is Monday, possibly Tuesday or Wednesday all depending on growth.

Dh let me give me my own injection last night actually it was less painful maybe because I had more control...Now getting ready for my trip to Mobile tonight! Bosshog was a pain and wouldn't let me swap shifts today so I'm driving in tonight after I get off from work around 9:30 should be there sometime around midnight. Whether make the drive tonight then 4am absolutely not a morning person. Dh cannot go with me since he has to work early in the morning but maybe this will give me a chance to be more independent and not rely so much on him! Definately getting my GPS reactived since I'm not familar with where the clinic is in Mobile yet and I'll have internet service to chat with you ladies. Downtime won't be much since my trip is very short and must likely will have to work Saturday afternoon, I'm telling Bosshog I'll be late getting back. Just hoping I won't have to make another trip Sunday but I have someone who is willing to swap shifts w/ me for Sunday already. I hope you ladies here have a good weekend, and about the Halloween parties going on guess I won't have to worry about a costume, so glad I didn't invest time into making one but hopefully next year we all will have MORE fun dressing up our little ones instead and I know if there is a will, there is a way, even if it requires us kidnapping one!

Sunshine - Wow, 4 am is super early, but what wont we do for our children (even before they are born)? LOL Please keep us updated, I hope there is not so much stress for you at work.

Kynlee - thank you!

AFM - Fertilization report: 16 eggs retrieved, 12 mature, 1 damaged during the ICSI process, 10 fertilized, hopefully they will continue to grow, I am praying for a day 5 transfer this time.
Ladies, I can not believe it but I am back at work already, its such a blessing for someone who had OHSS and had to stay home for 2 weeks. What a difference this new clinic is :-)

Hey hey! Sorry I wasn't writing for a while, believe me I was stalking. Just a lot easier for me to check in on FB from work, and nights/weekends I pretty much only use my phone which is an incredible pain to post from. I have started Lupron, baseline u/s is this Monday (at 7am yay!!), and transfer should be the day before Thanksgiving. Tomorrow we are having family photos taken for Sean's 3rd birthday which was Wednesday.

...I was just organizing my supplies and found a baggie of syringes from 2007, made me realize just what a long road this has been. We had our first date May 29, 1998 and even back then talked about how we both wanted kids. Married August 31, 2002 and at that point we had stopped using contraception, but we didn't really think something was wrong until early 2006. It was a long and painful road to discovering my husband has what the genetic counselor called "atypical cystic fibrosis" and had no vas deferens. It has been 6 1/2 years of living in the IVF world. So much can change in that time -- I remember my RE saying when we first met with him that if we would have gone to see him 10 year previously we would have been told there was nothing that could be done. A chilling thought.

I know there are some of you here who don't have your miracle baby yet, and you have been on my mind a lot as I celebrated my son's birthday. For you still living with IVF is different than it is for me, there is no getting around that. But there is so much reason to be hopeful, even in the face of failure -- and I have failed 3 times to 1 success so far. So -- even if I'm not posting, I'm thinking of you all...

Good Afternoon Ladies...

Patricia- Oh those gremins! How are you doing today?

Wondercat- That is a chilling thought..It's truly amazing how advanced the medical field has become, this gives many much hope to never give up this dream! I don't care if someone has one, two or three children but would like another sibbling, to me that doesn't matter, because what's more important is that person cares so much and has proven her devotion to be a loving mother. We shouldn't feel deprieved, we shouldn't even have to be going through this...but I can say we have a greater appreciation for what's in store for us. Together we'll find a way, we are in this together. You've been there you know the pain but seeing a miracle happen gives you much hope that it can happen again as well as to others like myself. x

Pocos- How are you doing girl with those embryos in the playpin, soon they will be coming home to mama!

AFM: A bit sleep deprieved and about to head back into work but I wanted to give you a quick update! From today's SnS my lining is 7.98...10 follies on the right, 7 on the left. Left is a little behind measuring around 9mm, while right has follies ranging around 12 with one at 15mm. Very glad I DON'T have to go back to Mobile Sunday, next scan will be Monday morning. Looking like retrieval might be on Halloween, oh I hope someone plays the Adam's Family lol too creepy! Enjoy the weekend ladies..

Christy: wow sounds like your follicles have multiplied as well as grown!! I reckon er will definately be no later than wed. Fabulous

Meg and hyb: hello and welcome :D

Tonya: how is af? And my cycle is looking like feb

Pocos: how are you feeling after your great retrieval?

Afm: clinic being ridiculous, spoke to dh on thurs rather than waiting for me or replying to my email. Dh asked for her not to talk to him because one of the big symptoms of his multiple sclerosis is bad, really bad memory retention and although he wrote as much as he could remember down, he had forgotten about things like hysteroscopy and estrogen priming which i really needed to know. So I sent another brief, very pleasant email asking for her to call me and explaining tne situation and offering 9 available times for her to call me. Nurse mailed back saying doc is away now til next thurs and had written up a letter for me which she hoped would cover it. I mailed back and thanked her and asked for my blood clotting results which i phoned for last week and doc hadn't signed off on so I called again last fri for at 9am - she neither phoned nor emailed me back!! I know now we are clearly being stone-walled and now im mad - how dare they? We have a holiday here on Monday and I'll wait til tue to see if the letter arrives but if she hasn't put the results in the letter (im not sure if they were all back) then I'll start ringing - this very clearly makes my decision but i really need those results so I dont have to redo them.
