Hi everyone, sorry its taken so long to reply to the questions re acupuncture. I have been having it since the last failed cycle on recommendation from an IVF nurse and with positive recomendations from this site. I have to say I loove it. I am a stress bunny about day to day life and my job is very tough but I think the acupuncture has made a hugh difference in terms of keeping me calm and more an ease with everything. Following my Ist failed attempt I suddenly had a high FSH (12) and my periods have never been much to write about. But what it seems to have done is give me a proper cycle and more of a healthier bleed as the needles are nourishing the uterus! My acupuncturist is training as a herbalist and hes been giving me dietary advice, I have weaned off tea and coffee, just have my morning cuppa and then hot water all day and porridge for breakfast and I'm sure I feel healthier - could be all in the mind.
I'm intrigued about the milk daily requirement as I have heard people talk about this. I am not a milk person in the least so I think I'm going to have to eat 6 babybels per day!
I'm just waiting for Monday now to see if I can go ahead with stimulating on Thursday.
I will be more chatty when I have more time at home if I get to the two week wait as I can have time off work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It should be fun with all of us going through for ET around the same time
To stop confusion I'll sign off as Chubbs (Jane) from now on

don't worry about the milk quota - think they are in league with the milk board I am not a milk person either - had my cereal and then had some milk with milk shake powder but never hit my quota. I made it up by drinking loads of squash - you just need to not dehydrate really
Good luck

ttc 9 years. 38 yrs old, dh 8 hrs younger!First IVF in Aug 2002 and had ectopic.2nd IVF neg.3rd FET and negative.4th FET and positive but sadly lost our little boy at 20 weeks.5th FET and Alice Isobel and Emily Charlotte born 5th Aug 2004!
Thanks for your advice because I was beginning to worry. I will drink plenty, I am getting into drinking water now which is not me. Being wise to all this, do you have any views on Assisted Hatching as hopefully, if I do manage to get an embi or two I hope to have assisted hatching. I was told there was a 30% chance of pregnancy with AS and with my struggle I thought it was worth trying?!

I am glad you have found acupuncture a success. I think if my TMT fails I will start to have it to so it helps to hear that you think it is helping you. I also will be asking my consultant about assisted hatching. He may be a bit reluctant as I have conceived without it but it's something that I have wondered about but don't know enough about.
Talking about the milk intake (I love milk!) I was advised not to have too much as it is a false hormone or something like that. Why were you tlod to have it and how much a day???
Wishing you loads of luck

I have been watching your posts like a hawk, wishing you a big fat positive today
The milk advice was from an IVF nurse and from views of this site. My acupuncturist thinks milk makes the system sluggish hence my change to porridge with water ! Yep its yuk but I add some sultanas and you get used to it. Its like everything with IVF you'll do whatever to try and have a positive result! So I'm confused about the milk issue but I think I'll just go for the cheese instead as I love it!
I'll be watching the site today. You so deserve a big fat positive!!!
Have a great day with DH

Hi Everyone
I am on day 6 of stim injections and apart from feeling bloated and rather like a pin cushions I am ok ,if a little emotional!! I think DH would think of another discription for me at the moment!! I am really impressed with myself this time as I have managed to do the injections.
Caroline
Yes I am at ARGC which is why I have no idea what is going on as they don't tell you much do they. Have you started on your stim injections yet?
I also feel realy tired at the moment and not sure if it is the constant trips with British Rail , an effect of the treatment or whether I am just lazy?
I have to give you credit for doing the injections yourself. There is no way I would even consider trying to do them myself! Besides, I figure it's the least my DH can do.
How is everyone else doing? It's been pretty quiet on here!
I've been downregging (with injections). I'm on my 8th day and am happy I haven't had any of the headaches or crying spells so far that I did last time. I haven't even had any hot flashes. Come to think of it, I haven't felt much of anything this time in the way of side effects even though I'm taking 4 times the dose I was last time. I hope it is working!
I go in for my first scan on Wed. morning. At that point, I guess they'll let me know if my levels are low enough to go ahead and start the estrogen.
I am already getting impatient and I'm not even a quarter of the way through this yet!
I'm with you on the injections front Staci - there is NO WAY I could do them myself - and I swear my DH enjoys doing them (+ it makes him feel involved).
Good to hear that you havn't had many side effects this time with your down regging. I know that I got bad headaches from sniffing the last couple of times - so I'm hoping injecting buserelin will mean that I won't get those. Are you injecting Buserelin?
Dagny, thanks for you good luck message. How are you doing? Hope you're spoiling yourself rotten. I feel SO gutted for you - I thought about you a lot yesterday and wished so much that it would be +ve.
I am sneaking off early tonight (my boss is on holiday so hopefully I can get out early most days!).

And firstly, Dagny thanks for your good wishes to us Aug cyclists - I'm amazed by your generosity of spirit in the circumstances. I was so sorry to hear about your TMT not working and I'm sure if it was me, I'd be off sinking several large glasses of wine, not worrying about others following in your wake, so thank you and I hope you have the time and support to get over your bereavement (cos it is a little bereavement) before you decide what to do next.
Ellie, I know exactly what you mean about the ARGC - I think it's like espionage, you know, go away and someone will phone you tonight with instructions. I half expect them to start "Listen very carefully, I weel say thees only once....". I make myself think of questions to ask because I can't stand not understanding what's going on. It was only by asking that I found out why we're supposed to drink all this bleeding milk! (It's the protein apparently). That's is how I calculated the babybel equivalents - incidentally, if you get the half fat ones they have more protein, so I think 5 of them is a litre of milk. I'm curious that not all clinics advise drinking milk and that some people have even heard advise against it, though. I'm having acupuncture like some others and will ask my acupuncturist next week if she's got a view on it.
I'm not finding giving myself the injections a problem, but I don't really like the bee sting feeling I get afterwards. I'm not sure what it will be like when I'm on two a day, one for down reg'g and one for stim'ing. I'm currently sitting in a friend's office waiting for the clinic to phone me and tell me whether to go back and pick up my stim medication or come back tomorrow for another round of scans and blood tests. I can't go home til I know - I'm coming up from Bath to London for this so it's too far to go home and come back again and I'm getting a bit bored now. I hope they call soon or they will have closed the office! I think once I get to the travelling in every day stage, I'm going to be tired too. Where are you coming in from Ellie?
Anyway, need to go and refill the water bottle again! Hope everyone's doing ok
Slim Baby bels sound an excellent replacement for milk Caroline.
I had my baseline scan and the goodpoint is that my rt ovary that had surgery looks good, no cysts and lots (well 3 follis perhaps) which is lots for my rt ovary! But my left ovary has what looked like a massive CYST!!!!!!! but on a cyst scale, apparently its not too big. Now awaiting my blood level to see if its low enough to start because apparently cysts excrete oestrogen so I may be put back two weeks!!!!!! Trying to stay calm and hoping to start injecting Thursday and then I can buddy along with everyone?!
After a month of down regulating with Zoladex and a week of synarel I am one irritable lady with DH, hate what these drugs do to you. Just to add insult to the irritability, I'm missing acupuncture this week as my acupuncturist is on holiday. Roll on a positive low blood level and I get on with stimulating!

Hi Everyone hope all is going well today. I am still on the stims and will be for at least another 3 to 4 days or thats what they say at the moment!
Caroline
I hope you got the blood results you were waiting for and are on the stims now. It must be killing you coming in from Bath everyday. I come in from St Albans and it still takes me the best part of the morning.
Chubbs
I feel for you having to down reg for a month I did that on my first cycle and it wasn't nice, hope you can start with stims soon as it is one step further down this rocky road.
