Hi! I am new here!

Post by POPPY »

Hello everyone!

This seems like a great place!

I just registered and read a few topics trying to find something that can help me.........

Well pretty much I am lost and I don't know where to start. Trying to conceive for 2 years, apparently there is a problem there  . I am 26 , husband 30- both healthy. I ovulate and have a regular cycle, miscarried when I was 18. He doesn't have any kids.

I feel it might be him but who knows......Went to urologist- paid for the visit(insurance doesn't cover it of course)- Dr. said they would be able to make the lab tests on the spot but then- sent us to another city for the labs and pretty much getting double charged. Got frustrated never went to the lab for the test. I am currently waiting for my insurance to kick in.

I don't know- pretty much trying to figure out how the whole process is supposed to work- where does one go first- what steps do we take, how do we finance , at what point do we do that, does insurance cover any of the expences( blood work etc.).

I live in Hampton Roads area, VA...... Any info would be a great help.

Thank you ladies!

Poppy: Welcome to the board! The IF workup can seem a bit overwhelming at first. As for us, once it was clear that dh had male factor, including my irregular ovulation, we went straight to a reproductive endocrinologist (RE). The RE was able to run all the tests and tell us exactly what we would need to do (i.e., IVF with ICSI). He had to redo some of the testing that my GYN had done b/c he was looking for different things, or needed additional testing... so i kind of wish we had just gone to him initially. Unfortunately, none of this (except maybe my initial pelvic us and initial sperm analysis) was covered by my insurance. Check and see about yours though, as many women have at least some coverage. Hope this helped, and good luck!
