I have shared the first half of my story hear before, but I figured it was worth updating. I have had soooo much support from these boards through the past few years and I hope that our story can encourage some of you still trying after multiple attempts.
First we were diagnosed with male factor infertility and told that IVF would have an 80% chance of working...we were the "perfect" IVF patients. (I was only 23 at the time.) Well, needless to say we were far from what our RE had expected. The story is quite long so I will try to keep it short.
We eventually went through 4 fresh IVF cycles, 2 donor embryo FET's, and three miscarriages before finally having our first born miracle little boy. This all took about five years of heartache and thousands of dollars.
The update to the story is that we still had 4 embryos left and decided to try for number two. We were very grateful for what we had and a second would just be a blessing for our son to have a sibling. We were not expecting much considering it took us sooo much to have the first. To our surprise we got pregnant and stayed pregnant on the first attempt for number two. Our second miracle was born 11-12-12 and is already 7 weeks old!
I am sharing this to say you just never know with IVF. If you are still trying please don't give up. Also, if you are considering what to do with left over embryos, please consider donating them. We are so blessed to have two wonderful little boys who could have easily been discarded, and we may never have had a family.
I feel like everything that happened to us was to get our little boys into our arms and I would not change a thing. Good luck to everyone out there still trying. I you would like to read our story in detail you can visit my blog.... IVF Success Stories - Overcoming Infertility
