2ww & spotting

Post by grumpsuk »

Hi Im new to this message board, I wonder if anyone can help me bring some light.
Im currently on the dreaded 2ww (god its nasty) I am on day 9 after ET, everything seems to of been going well until lunchtime today untill I started spotting with light brown & pink discharge. I did a clear blue digital HPT this afternoon which resulted in a BFN!! I test at the clinic on Wed early morning!! Has anyone else experienced this during the 2ww and still got a BFP.
I feel so gutted thats its over and can't stop crying.

Well I can tell you that even if you are not pregnant, you wouldn't be getting your period this early anyhow. The progesterone would delay it whether you are pregnant or not. Spotting is very normal in IVF, and it might be implantation spotting (not all docs believe in it, but it can be a good sign).

Using a digital is not a great idea - they are not very sensitive at all. How old were your embryos?... not sure why your beta is so far away unless you did a 3dt, making you only 12dpo?

Lots and lots and LOTS of women have spotting (especially with IVF) and are pregnant. It's not fun, but it is considered normal.

If you want to test again, only use FRER. If the blood turns red or has lower back or abdomen cramping, it's reason to worry, but just spotting is not a huge concern. Please please keep us posted.

Hi Thanks for replying to my post.
Yes i;m on 3dt and my test date is Wed 3rd. Does this date seem to early to you?
im just praying that I get a BFP this time, as it sour 4th attempt. I really wish I could just get a BFP makes me feel like a failure.
Are you doing IVf at the moment or considering it in the future?
sorry im just getting used to this message board. I will find my bearings

Hi-

I am new to this forum, but have been browsing for awhile now. I'm in my 2ww too, and started spotting on and off this morning (8dp3t). My blood test isn't until Friday.

This is our 3rd IVF cycle and I am more than words can express scared/nervous, and can relate to having the feeling of being a failure. More frustrating is that I am unexplained, and feel very alone as my family is very fertile.

Wishing you all the best on Wednesday!

grumpsuk & waiting-- I am also in my 2ww. I am 13 dpo (8dp5dt). I started spotting (light pink/red at first then tannish brown since that time) on the evening of day 2 after ET. I was also crampy for a few days and then that subsided. It has never been enough to soak through to a pantyliner but always present when I go to the bathroom. My clinic says it is "normal" but that does not make it less stressfull. Well I go for my first beta tomorrow. Best wishes and sticky baby dust to us all!

Hello,

I just wanted to offer you ladies some hope.

My second try I started spotting at 9 or 10 days past transfer and when I took an HTP it was a BFN. I sobbed and cried for two days before I finally managaed to call my clinic and asked if I could go for my beta early to get the inevitable over with. For some reson while at the lab waiting to get my blood drawn I started to feel hopeful that it wasn't over, even though I was still spotting bright red and heavier than I usually spot.

I didn't get my beta results the same day and couldn't sleep well that night, so I thought maybe if I did my last HPT I would know it really was over and then I could just cry myself to sleep. Well suprise, suprise, it was positive! I really couldn't sleep after that!!
I was really worried that it wouldn't last, but I have a happy, healthy (and adorable if I do say so myself) 6 month old little boy. There were also a few other ladies on this board with the same problem at the same time, and they had their dream come true, too. I am hoping that you all will have the same happy outcome.

And now I have to go feed my little guy!
Good luck to you all!
Kim

PS - Sonya if you check back in here: Congratulations!!! :D

Im afraid to say ladies that AF has definatly arrived today!! my spotting got heavier this morning which resulted into AF this afternoon, Im so upset I can't stop crying. I was that this 4th cycle of ICIS was our time. I called the clinic to tell them and they advised me to carry in with the pessaries and still to come to clinic to test on Wed.
I really thought it was our time this time as I had no pains or cramping until yday morning. As from my previous experience I had cramping almost all the way threw the 2ww.

Waiting - how are you feeling today? I hope your spotting has stopped. keep me informed on how your doing. Lots of PMA!! :) You say your have unexplained infertility have you or your DH never been tested? Our problem is DH Low count & motabilty, Im still not convinced I don't have anything wrong with myself. Im thinking of getting lots of tests done as I need some answers why our little embies will not embed.

Krisenjer - I wish you all the luck in the world with your beta test, fingers & toes crossed for you. Keep us all informed how you get on. Its good to share our news.

Kimbob - What an amazing succesfull story you have. Thanks for your information, Im still trying to hang in there after reading your success, may I have the same succes as you on Wed, Im still trying to stay postive well very little anyway.

Lots of PMA to everyone

Kimbob- Thank you for sharing your story. I cried almost all the way through reading it, which has been my theme since starting to spot. It definitely gives me some hope, Friday can't come soon enough for me.

Krisnjer- All the best to you tomorrow!

Grumpsuk-I am so sorry to hear that, but wish you all the best!
Last night I barely slept, and have been crying on and off all day. Both me and my husband have been through the ringer on tests. His count & motbility are great, and everything on my end has come up basically clear. So my doctors have placed me with that 10% of unexplained infertility. We have completed about 7-8 IUIs before moving to IVF in 2008. Thank you for all the well wishes, and I will keep you posted.

grumpsuk-- so sorry to hear that. wishing you the best on wed.

I woke up to more spotting and cramping this morning. It was brighter in color today and more than I had on the first day of spotting. I have been spotting for a week now. My 1st beta came back positive though! It was a 55.3  Hopefully it will double on Thursday and this spotting will stop.

Hi Ladies

I went to the clinic this morning and they confirmed my BFN!!!! Life is so cruel at times isn't it!! Myself & DH feel so down about it as we were so positive this time, we thought we were home and dry. I have to admit I find it so hard to stay positive onthe 2ww. so any of you other ladies feel the same or are most of you positive.
Im going to take some time out and consider what were going to try next.
The clinic recommended assisted hatching. Anyone else had BFP by using this method.
Were gong to book a long overdue holiday to Florida.

Krisnjer - how are you doing? has your spotting stopped now? wishing you lots of luck for tomorrow :)

Waitingformiracle - Is everything ok with you. this was my 4th IVF!!.

love to everyone and loads of luck xx

Hi Everyone,

Tuesday morning I started bleeding heavily, called my clinic and completed my testing this morning....BFN! I am terribly sad as is my hubby which breaks my heart even more. In an odd way our strength comes from trying to comfort another.

grumpsuk- I am so sorry to hear your news, but wish you all the best! I hope you have a great time in Florida! We are taking some time off to figure out our next steps, and you are not alone with your feelings during 2ww- I get very anxious.
