an unscheduled hospital visit

Post by Juliana »

Hi girls, had abit of a scare yesterday but all turned out to be fine in the end. Woke up with back pain which just got worse and worse through the day. Did not know what to think, was not thinking very clearly either and on top of that dp is away till Tuesday (seeing my father, I sent him there, sort of...). So after 3 hours of pains I called the hospital and they said come in immediately, got some friends to drive me over. It was strange. on the one hand I kept thinking it would be ok as the pain was not rhythmic, just constant, on the other I was getting scared. Well they checked me very thoroughly, heartbeats of the twins, scan,a nasty internal to see how the cervix was and it was closed and the babies fine so we all calmed down except the pains continued and were driving me mad. Finally they decided it's a trapped nerve that causes them, all the way from my back to my lower back and leg. Has anyone had something like that - they called it pregnancy lumbago or something like that!
They sent me to a physiotherapist but I could only get an appointment Thursday. and even told me to take a paracetamol which I did out of sheer desperation. It's so uncomfortable, it's on my left side and this is the only side I could sleep on so I walked around the house the whole night as I could not get comfortable in any position. It's a bit of a misery. But I am grateful the babies are ok, that's the most important thing.
love,
juliana

Gosh Juliana

What a relief! I bet you were wondering what was going on and that you might be having your twins before Tracey!!!

I am glad the twins are fine and I hope your back pains clear up soon.

Oh you poor thing to have had a scare. Try and just take it easy and rest as much as possible if you can find a comfy position.
When my back aches i find laying on my left side with legs curled up as far as possible sometimes helps.

hihi julianna, sorry to read about your trip to hospital, i can totally
relate to how upsetting and worrying it is especially when your dp
is away, u just feel to scared as these babies are so precious, i
dont think people who have not been thru ivf realy undestand how
presious. Do hope you soon get some relief from the pain, it
realy is not long now, what is the policy on twins at your hospital
do they let u go full term ?? or do they induce early, if so we
could be round the same time...........and thats not long!!!!! scary
thought.
try and rest alisonn xx

Hi girls,
thanks for your sympathy, it was quite scary indeed, thinking i could have them, the nurse saying it could well be contractions... and then the husband of my friend who brought me over started making jokes about how I was going to tell dp he's got two babies, I thought this would have been rather sad as dp is so commited to being there and so worried about them! It all seems fine now and I am so grateful they are safe for now, I feel every day and week is a gain and who knows, I might last as long as our champion dog walker! (you all know who this is!)

You do make me smile -champion dog walker - my money is on you lasting past 36 weeks - and dp will be there for your special moment.

The less you try and dwell on it the better you will be and feel and the less likely they are to pop out I reckon!

Take care
