Low hcg level

Post by buttercup1991 »

So i did my first bt last tuesday and the result was 2.77, from what i researched, less than 5 is negative, but the doctor wanted me to continue taking estrogen and progesterone until friday (which is today) and do another test. The result is 8.22, i dont know what to feel. I was happy that atleast it goes up a lil bit but from what i read, slow rising hcg level eventually leads to miscarriage. The doctor wants to see me on monday and do another bt again. But she wants me to stop the estrogen and progesterone. I want to continue it but i don't think i can buy it without prescription. I still dont want to give it up but i dont know if i even have a shot in this, with my hcg so low. What do you guys think? :(

I"m so sorry to hear about the single digit HSG. I know after that 2 week wait all we want to hear is great news, and hearing a maybe is the worst because it just prolongs everything. i had this same thing happen to me and continued to take my medications. I went back every other day for a week and my numbers kept doubling. The last appointment I went to that week the number came back and dropped back into the teens. Mine did lead to a miscarriage, but there are a lot of successful single digit HCG stories out there. I'm sure you've already read them all. Good luck to you. Do you go back today to see if the numbers rose?

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is produced during pregnancy. It is made by cells formed in the placenta, which nourishes the egg after it has been fertilized and becomes attached to the uterine wall. The HCG level can be tested by Blood Test and Urine test. In general, the level increases during pregnancy which is considered as positive or normal. A HCG less than 5mIU/mI is considered as low and negative. A low hCG level can mean any number of things and should be rechecked within 48-72 hours to see how the level is changing. This indicates:
Miscalculation of pregnancy dating
Possible miscarriage or blighted ovum
Ectopic pregnancy
A health care provider may recheck your levels regularly if you are bleeding, experiencing severe cramping, or have a history of miscarriage. A low HCG is not always result in miscarriage, Some women have had healthy pregnancies even with low HCG. But all you need is to take care of your sekf and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Good Luck.

HCG is a hormone that lets you know that you are pregnant but it also helps us figure out how healthy that pregnancy is. HCG can be detected in your urine and measured in your blood; it’s from the measurements in the blood that we get an idea about the health of a pregnancy.Stress can also affect your ability to ovulate or produce an egg each month. If a woman does not ovulate, progesterone is not produced, therefore it is not available to counteract the effects of the estrogen made during the menstrual cycle and this effects your hormone levels. The hCG hormone rises in a fairly predictable pattern. Discuss it with your doc and If your hCG levels fall beneath the typical range, your doc may need you to have a blood test each a few days to guarantee the levels are expanding. So while a slow rising hCG does not equal a miscarriage, it is usually a tip-off that that something is not right.
