TTC and depression

Post by saramots1 »

Hello all. I wanted to write on this forum to look for support and advice. So my husband and I were trying to conceive for a year now but without luck really. The doctor we visited didn´t really had an answer for this problem and this have been really hard on us. I’ve been dealing with depression for 10 years now and I am on medication but I don´t know if that has something to do about it. Have someone been in a similar situation? It would be great to hear some advices. Thank you.

Hi hun. I really know how you feel and I want to tell you that you are not alone on this and you have to keep strong. I was reading your post and thought that maybe you should look for a specialist, in my case that helped me a lot to understand some things, so I think It would be helpful because I think that maybe your medication could be a problem, but you need to ask your doctor because I am just speculating. Sorry if this post isn´t of much help. I wish you the best :)

Hello, Sarah! The best thing that you should do is to undergo IVF. It is one of the ways you can do to overcome that infertility problem. I hope you can discuss it with your husband.

Dear Sarah. I am sad to hear about your situation. Have you been taking anti-depression pills? You need to understand that these pills might have some side-effects. You can try to overcome your depression naturally. You can share the reason, for your depression. We would support you no matter what. In my opinion, you can also start visiting a psychologist to help you clear your mind. There can be several reasons of failures for trying to conceive. You must know that you need to stay mentally and physically fit before you try. You should know when you are ovulating. There are numerous clinics around the world providing treatment for this cause. This clinic in Europe provides quality treatment with an assurance of desired results. You must research on your own. Hopefully, everything will work for you. I wish you all the best hun xxx

I know I can't step into your shoes to understand your ordeal, I'm not supposed to be the one to decide when you had it enough - but TTC for a year is a very normal thing. Even couples with absolutely optimum reproductive functioning might take 3-6 months to conceive after they start trying actively. BTW, if it's not too late to ask I'd just go ahead and ask a few questions to understand the situation better - hope you don't mind! How regular are your cycles? Were you on hormonal contraceptives ever? If yes, which one and for how long - when did you finally came off it? If your Dr has no answers you might as well start using OPK to track ovulation and time your BD accordingly. In addition, if there are any irregularities with your cycle that you've noticed - you can consult the Dr for some stimulants. That will boost your ovulation improving your chance of conceiving. Once you try all that for 6 months (if you can wait till then I can't decide that really but just suggest) and there's not a BFP at least - go ahead with the advanced process. Meanwhile, there are some lifestyle changes that improve your metabolism and physiological performance - you can find them online in any pregnancy supporting blogs to help you tune to the best of possibilities. Good Luck!

Hello, Sara. Do you know the reason of your infertility? Did you consult the fertility specialists to find the solution to your issue? 10 years of depression could influence your reproduction system. So, you definitely have to be checked up. Find a good clinic of reproduction medicine and start the examination. After that doctors will offer you the best solution to solve your problem.
Unfortunately, my DH and me needed 10 years to understand that we needed help to conceive. Our doctor kept saying that I was fine. I visited a lot of specialists but no one could answer our question. I was just unable to conceive. Actually, I was unable to carry the baby. The truth is that I got pregnant a couple of times. But I miscarried each time.
When we found out about surrogacy, we were sure that it was our last chance. A lot of people are afraid of surrogacy. Someone says that it is dangerous and unnatural. But it gives a real chance to become parents. That's why our baby was born by the surrogate. After 10 years of useless ttc we were holding our baby.
I'm not saying that surrogacy is your only option. But you should keep it in your mind. Medicine offers a lot of ways to solve the infertility issue. But first of all, you have to find a good reproduction center to help you. I don’t think that you can cope with this situation alone. It can take too much time. Anyway, I’m sure you are strong enough to find the solution.
You know, you are not alone with this problem. A lot of women fight infertility successfully. There’s nothing to be afraid of. Just try to calm down.
