Hi there. My husband and I were ttc for 3 years. We were quite unsuccessful. We signed up for IVF a couple of months ago. The waiting list was too long. We got a date for January 2018. We were both looking forward to it. However, a family emergency has come. We won't be here in January. We asked if we could be moved to a date in Feb. However, the clinic told us that won't be possible. We would have to cancel the procedure and register again. This would mean we would lose half of the amount we have paid. What do I do? We aren't that well off that we can just afford to toss away that amount.

What country are you in?
Can you possibly get anyone else to handle that family emergency? IVF is an important family matter, too.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
Are you sure that you are ready to refuse the IVF because of that family emergency? I agree that IVF is an important family matter. This can be your only chance to get pregnant. I don't think that you should lose it. I'm sure you will find the way to figure everything out. May be try to find someone to help you. I support Ghost in this question.
I think that even though ivf depends on time and is very hard to get into, your family should come first. there types of situations where you just can't afford ignoring it. and if you lose this ivf round, I am sure you will be able to find another opportunity to get into ivf.
this is just my opinion.life is hard and we have to adjust.
