Hi there, ladies. How are you all? I have a question. Seeing all that you all have been through, I think this is just the right place. I was recently told my ovaries aren't producing any healthy follicles. So, my chances of a normal conception are next to zero. The doctor suggested Clomid or Femara. She said she needed to conduct some more tests to see which one was more suitable. So, I wanted to ask you all your experiences. Has anyone used either of the two meds? If yes, then which one? How effective was it? Also, if given the choice that I have been given, what would you choose? Thanks in advance.

Both work similarly at the follicle level. Both get the hypothalamus to release GnRH, causing the pituitary to release FSH. This FSH stimulates the follicles. Both are milder and much cheaper than using injectable gonadotropins (FSH products). Femara typically develops 1 follicle, while clomid might get slightly more. Our doctors prefer Femara for IUI cycles. Neither is typically used alone in IVF cycles due to the small number of follicles that develop and the resulting low success rate. They are commonly used for IUI, and also sometimes to give a slight boost along with gonadotropins in IVF cycles.Alyssa562 wrote:Hi there, ladies. How are you all? I have a question. Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

I was on Femara ever since my first IUI failed. Both the medicines improve ovary function thereby correcting any ovulation related shortcomings. In spite of a different composition, the mechanism of action is also same for both as well - block estrogen receptors in the brain to increase the production of hormones in within the ovaries. The difference is based on efficacy and lower risk, in which Femara seems to have an upper hand. However, Clomid is also a preferred one for PCOS if Provera doesn't seem to work well with the patient. Your Dr is right though that everyone seems to have an individual compatibility with the drugs. If you wanna check your's I'd say start with Clomid and move to Femara if that doesn't work. Usually, people who fail to have any outcome with Clomid switch to Femara and it turns out to be fruitful in most cases. Wish you luck for a baby soon!

Am sorry about your problem but its nothing like that you can't get pregnant. There are some chances to get pregnant even naturally if you don't have any major health issues. I want to put it hear that Both Femara and Clomid are effective medicines to maintain ovulation & to treat infertility. However, the results depend upon The condition of the woman’s fallopian tubes, the woman’s age, quality of the male’s sperm and the woman should not have other medical issues other than her inability to ovulate naturally. Moreover, the chances of pregnancy increase by 15% by using Femara.Before choosing any medicine you should have the proper medical checkup and consult to RE. Hope this will helpful to you.

Both Clomid and Femara are used to increase the production of hormones within the ovaries for producing the healthy follicles. When one of my friends had got the IVF then her doc prescribed her to get the Clomid to produce the more healthy follicles and she had produced the 4 follicles which are enough to get the success with IVF. Your doc is right, When they will take the test, they told you which one is more suitable for you according to the results. Because each one has different health conditions.So before starting any one of them, medications consult with your doctor.
