Hi Everyone, I'm new here.... I was told 2 weeks ago that I have a low ovarian reserve basically my AMH levels were very low as were my FSH levels. I have a history of endometriosis and I'm 31 years old. My doctor moved me straight to IVF and told me we were going to hit it hard with hopes of some success. I tried to stay away from blogs because I'm terrified all of the info will tell me my numbers won't let it work for me, but I was curious about so many things. So many woman are going through the same thing as me and I was having trouble finding people to talk to about it. Aside from all of the emotional issues that accompany this process, I want to figure out what else I can do to help me and improve my chances. Holy moly are the lists of supplements I've seen people suggest long! Which ones help? Do any of them? Lol... literally so many questions that I feel silly asking my doctor about.
I've seen a lot of suggestions to start taking a DHEA supplement. I wanted to know how much you guys take and and when you started it. I literally started my first round last week, I have my initial blood tests to see if my body is taking to the hormones tomorrow.
But I'm still curious about DHEA... what does it do? How can it help me? Does it matter when I start taking it?
This is such a tough process and all of your support and knowledge is so helpful!

I was in a similar situation: at age 27 I had very low AMH and my IVF clinic said I could be facing a difficult time conceiving through IVF. I started taking DHEA a couple of months before the IVF cycle (25mg once per day, usual recommended dose is 25mg three times per day) and doing a lot of other things for egg quality and ovarian reserve (I have a degree in molecular biology so read about 500 clinical/ scientific studies about what I could do) and we had really good results in our first IVF cycle (setting a clinic record for the number of good quality embryos). You need to take DHEA for at least 2 months before an IVF cycle, but ideally 3 mths.
I ended up writing a book that explains all the latest scientific research on egg quality and fertility so if you're interested in finding out more about how DHEA works and the strength of the clinical evidence for that and other supplements you should check it out. if you want to use DHEA supplements it's good. It helps to increase the level of hormones, Providing more energy, Improving mood and memory, building up bone and muscle strength.
