Poor Egg quality

Post by lulu2016 »

Hello,

I need some advice. I'm 41 years old and on my second cycle IVF (both a year apart) and my doctor just told me that out of my 10 retrieved and fertilized eggs, 7 survived after fertilization, 1 died, 3 went haywire, and 3 are of very poor quality, which leaves me with yet another failed IVF. I really don't know what to do...Do we give up? We don't want to go donor egg or embryo egg route. Are my eggs bad because of my age or is there hope. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi lulu2016, I am sorry to know yr story. Yr eggs pure quality are probably cause of yr age. Of course, you can keep on trying, but bear in mind yr advanced maternity age (sorry) that decreases chances of positive cycling. Some docs recommend considering PGD to avoid serious genetic diseases. xx

I had the same issue. IVF is practically impossible with poor quality egg and no donors. I don't know which other option you could go for. Have you asked to a specialist? I'm sure there must be a solution. There is always hope. Don't give up x

The eggs quality depends on many different factors such as The age of a woman, her eggs are damaged, PCOS and Endometriosis. Some eggs simply do not have the right number of chromosomes, and therefore will never be able to develop into a successful pregnancy. Other eggs simply don’t have the energy to survive. In your case, the age may the cause of poor egg quality if you don't have any other problem. Giving up is not an option at all. Always remember there is no absolute infertility. You can get pregnant by many ways. If you have failed IVF, then try Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) with IVF. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is a reproductive technology used with an IVF cycle to increase the potential for a successful pregnancy and delivery. It is a genetic test on cells removed from embryos, to help select the best embryo(s) for pregnancy or to be free of a genetic disease. This is mainly suggested to Women over 38 years of age and men with some types of sperm abnormalities may also produce embryos with higher rates of chromosome abnormalities. PGD can be designed to identify which embryos are affected, unaffected, or a carrier for specific genetic disease. Then, only embryos without the disease are transferred to the uterus to attempt pregnancy. To know about this consult to a doctor. Hope it helps you. Good Luck.

Dont give up dear, because at this age things takes time to happen .If you find any problem discuss it with your doc, They will give you some fertile medications to improve the egg quality. If you dont found any success with ivf then you can also go for the surrogacy.

Daizy4727 is another of many sock accounts advertising for Ukrainian clinics. Avoid Ukrainian clinics for the reasons in my signature.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

lulu, Sorry to hear about your problem. Bitter but its the fact that age matters a lot while having baby and age can be the major factor affecting egg quality. If your egg quality is low, you should take care of yourself very well, eat healthy, stay healthy, exercise daily, make changes in your diet and daily life routine. These few things make a big difference. Take medication if required and concern to a good clinic or doctor about this. They can help you in the more beneficial way. As you said, you are 41, and your egg quality is low, hence chances to get pregnant are also low. But IVF has a good success rate, even at the age of 41.But make sure, you are healthy enough and have chosen a good clinic because clinic plays a vital role in the treatment. different clinics have the different success rates. So, don't lose hope. and don't give up. Hope everything will be fine and you will become a mother soon. good Luck.

Hey Lulu, I'm so sorry to hear about your failed attempts of IVF and troubles with egg quality! :( Did you consult your clinic on how they are planning to sort the issue with egg quality. Depending on how poor the eqq quality is it can be reversed using medication. I know DHEA works but there are several others as well... plus some lifestyle change, nutrition chart and exercise for both of you could certainly work. I know it's hard to console yourself and bestow on hope when you've had the second round of IVF failed and even without the transfer. But please don't give up yet! If the egg quality cannot be reversed you can always opt for donor conception. There are dilemmas and insecurities I know, but that isn't gonna dissuade you from having a baby. Stay optimistic.. even if it seems hard to be at this point and consult a good Doctor. Wish you all the luck in the world! :)

Thank you for sharing your story, dear. What is your doctor's opinion on the situation? Is there a chance for you to get pregnant through the IVF? This service is pretty expensive, as far as I know. So, is it worth trying again and again? You should know it for sure. You said that it was your second attempt, dear. Have you been thinking of adoption or surrogacy? There's a chance that you are wasting your time and your money. I guess, you should think of more options. There are a lot of babies in the adoption centers, which dream to have parents. I'm sure one of them will be glad to become a part of your family.
In case if you want to have your biological baby, you can follow my example and enter the surrogacy program. I thought I would never have kids, you know. But I'm glad that I found out about surrogacy. It changed my life and my marriage completely. Our son is 3 years old now. He was born by the surrogate. I was also scared, just like you are. But it was worth trying.
We are thinking of having more kids at the moment. I desperately want to adopt. My husband agreed that we should do it in a couple of years. Hope, it will happen! I always dreamed to have a big family.
There are a lot of reasons for poor egg quality. Your doctor should make additional tests to help you, dear. I'm sure you are worth of being a mother.
Anyway, I wish you good luck, whatever you choose. Just stay positive and you will be fine. Keep posting all the latest news.

This service is pretty expensive
agreed, but if you want to save, you might consider undergoing IVF abroad, particularly in Poland or Czech Rep, where price is from EUR2,500

Hi there, I hope you did find a solution to your problems by now. If not then don't lose hope, there are several clinics that have expertise over older women and you need to just find one. Yes, the deterioration is egg quality is mostly due to the age... however, sometimes it could just happen to younger women as well. If your health and vitality are good and you're reciprocating well to medications... then you could try asking if DHEA or Ubiquinol might work to help with the egg quality a bit. You can't be much optimistic just over these medications alone though. Plus, you need to have a through lining check to give the best shot to IVF tries. If nothing works you can still go for surrogacy, that's an option rather the last resort that gives hope to even the hopeless. My friend had her surrogacy from Lotus Clinic Ukraine and is a proud mother now. The success rates are pretty convincing, they have their own pool of surrogates which reduced the waiting time and the packages are affordable as well. So if you can travel, maybe you're dreams of having babies can come true.

The success rates are pretty convincing
Although US clinics are known to achieve the highest success rates in the world, IVF clinics in Poland, Russia, Czech rep and Ukraine can also be proud of their success.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. See in IVF there's no guarantee that which round will finally end up being successful. Especially when it involved poor egg quality, bad numbers, low egg reserve indicated by AMH or the low response on ovarian stimulants. However, if you still on the fertility road you probably been suggested to go for donor conception. I guess it's something we all dread silently... it's okay there's nothing wrong about donor conception. But having had dodging troubles this far we simply want to not compromise being a biological mother too or at least give it a try. If you're on same page with me you should give IVF at Adonis in Ukraine a try. It's something my friend did and it turned out that she didn't need donor eggs after being on treatment for improving egg quality and the efficient protocol Adonis followed to suit her case. At 41 you surely need a reliable clinic and with a high success rate for the particular 40+ age group. Adonis have specialised process and clinical experts to make it possible. Good Luck

Do you mean mesotherapy treatment to ovaries? From what I have read you can undergo this procedure only in Cyprus or in Poland.
