Need advice – starting on egg donation

My DH is 43 and I am 38+. Last year, we have had one 5 week miscarriage and one after 10 weeks even after hearing a mild heartbeat. We were devastated but decided to come back strongly and go for fresh donor egg IVF. An egg donor has already been chosen by us and now we are awaiting the routine processes to start. Can anybody who has been through a similar experience shed some more light on it. It would really be a big help for us.

Hello Louise. I am now 21 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins through donor eggs on my second IVF cycle, the first one having failed. The second cycle was initiated using fresh donor eggs while the first one had frozen eggs from an egg bank. I have heard that using fresh eggs increases the chance of conceiving more than frozen eggs. In any case, I have seen the difference firsthand in my two cycles. Talk to RE in this regard and all the best for your exciting journey ahead.

Hello User. I have also had a successful IVF cycle using fresh donor eggs after 2 failed attempts using frozen eggs. However, I cannot say whether it is a mere coincidence.

Hi User, first I want to wish you the very best at the start of your journey. I have also gone through a successful IVF at BioTexCom and have been told that their embryologists work only with fresh donor eggs and not frozen eggs. This increases the rate of success.

I would like to add to what 1 has said. After multiple failed IVF cycles here, my husband and I had almost given up the thought of having children. However a friend suggested that we try clinics in Ukraine as they are the best in this line with high rates of successes. I was informed by their consultants that frozen eggs have reduced potency. Anyways, I don’t know about the technicalities but I have had a successful IVF cycle through fresh eggs and can vouch for them.

Well, I'm on the same boat eventually and some advice from someone who has had a DE+IVF will surely help. After two failed IVF attempts with my OE it's quite clear that we'll need DE if we are to become parents. I've been on a search for more information and have one most important question jotted down - which is if a history of PCOS has any effect on the success rate of DE+IVF? I've had 1 chemical pregnancy in my first cycle, though the embryo quality is to be blamed as per my clinic and further the second round quite confirmed it (didn't get a single good embie worth transferring). I'm just super cautious to not overlook anything suspicious at all because the stakes are pretty high this time. PCOS history too has a tendency to increase the risk of MC and just in case it has been overshadowed by my low-quality eggs so far I'm still at a higher risk even with DE+IVF.

I am not an expert, but from what I read, even IVF DE might ended up with a pregnancy loss, cos of chromosomal abnormalities in eggs. I think, it's not your fault or cos yr PCOS history, but cos of genetics issues. I have also read that women who undergo IVF DE consider combining it with PGS NGS to increase their chances for a healthy pregnancy. Good luck

Hello OP! I'm so sorry you had MCs. We've been ttc for 5 years already and nothing. Everyone around is getting pregnant. Everyone around thinks it's their responsibility to ask me why I'm still not having children. Every single one of my close friends has children. Same with my siblings. It's unbearable. When 2 of my best friends told me they were pregnant and of course conceived straight away, I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach. I’m so stressed. I think about it every hour of every day. I’m constantly dreaming about that moment when I will have my baby. Anyway I’m happy you started your journey! I wish you best of luck!

So sorry to hear about your struggle... so what's the update now? Onboard with the DE+IVF thing or still considering? I'm waiting to hear something good. I didn't have an exactly similar situation but it was somewhat close. Didn't have viable eggs for a helping uterus lining to support gestation. Failed at several IVF and didn't know where to look what to expect and how to cling to hope. There wasn't much money either to bank on for ongoing with IVF or look for alternate options. So we kind of landed up in the reproductive tourism idea and started looking for options. Lucky I landed up in Lotus Surrogacy website and the program was kind of engaging... great and informative content I guess. Anyway I wrote to them, they sounded very much optimistic and confident and we've been seriously lacking both. So one thing lead to the other and thanks to Lotus Clinic we' came home from Ukraine beautiful baby boy.
