Hi all. Just been for another scan and looks like ec going ahead on monday. Aaahhh!!!!! Scary, but exciting. Not sure how to feel about my follicles - have 15, with 5 over 16mm, a few more that should hopefully be mature and some diddy ones. Am pleased with the way they've grown but anxious about next stage hoping there will be a good selection of eggs. You hear about women having loads of eggs and it makes you wonder when you don't even have that many follicles, but we're all different aren't we. So many hurdles aren't there. Will you have enough eggs, will they be good quality, will they fertilise, will they take...
I know these are concerns we all have and we just have to hope and pray for ourselves and each other. Procedure at my clinic is done with sedation, not GA. Quite looking forward to that part, am I mad?

Sandra
Wow, very well done on your vast array of eggs! The best of luck for the next couple of weeks, will be following your progress and thinking of you.

Staci
Wise decision to take some time off work. I'm lucky to be off work over the summer and I don't think I could have coped with all this otherwise. I'm like you, can't sit still and want to be doing things. I find it really hard to just lie around and get bored quickly. We'll have to get some good books...

Mon ka
So sorry to hear about your experience. There must be someone at the hospital who could explain it to you - keep on trying til you get an answer you are happy with. And good luck this time...

Ellie
Love that name! Good luck during the 2ww. Will hopefully be joining in this next week so do keep us informed of the daily agony to help us prepare! All the best to you x

Good luck to everyone, we're getting through each stage bit by bit. It's hard but we can do it...

damn, damn, damn - I know exactly how Sandra felt yesterday. Just typed a longish post (though nowhere near your standards Sandra!) and it disappeared into the ether. And now I have to go off for another scan. So quickly to say, my best news is things are going much better than they would have anticipated for my age which as one of the few 40somethings on here makes me feel better. I have loads of follies, apparently, but yesterday they still weren't ready. Hoping they will be today or soon. Maybe EC on Sun or Mon, who knows.

good luck to everyone else and is there any news yet on Paige and Janine?

Hi everyone,

Well, I've just returned from the clinic and we ended up canceling this cycle. Apparently, I have a small fibroid and the Dr. is concerned that it is in the uterine cavity, which could affect implantation. I also still have the 2 cysts (although she said that wasn't as big a problem in a frozen cycle as it is in a fresh cycle). At any rate, the plan is that I start on birth control pills now, schedule a hysteroscopy procedure so she can see if the fibroid is in the uterine cavity and try to remove it, then let them know when I'm read to try again. The earliest I could do would be Nov. Sorry I don't get to be an Aug. buddy. You seem like a great group and I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of +tives this month!

I will definitely be hanging around and keeping an eye on all of you!

Hi Everyone

Sorry this is a quick post, but I feel really crap. Staci - I'm really sorry that this has happened after all you've been through, but I suppose if there's a chance that the implantation may be affected it is for the best in the long run. You need to chill for a couple of months, and Nov will be here soon enough x

Went for ET this morning, after having bad pains through the night. (Crampy pains and so bloated feel like I'm going to pop. Wish someone would just stick a needle in). Actually rang the hospital on the way, as started feeling nauseous but they advised to still turn up. By the time we got there felt a lot better and doctor decided it was okay to go ahead. Put 2 of the 4 back, and (hopefully ?) froze the other 2. I had a few questions I wanted to ask, but really couldn't be bothered. Will have to ask them next time I contact them. The poor woman who was going in for ET after me ..! poor thing, you should have seen her face after hearing all the noise I made .. I assured her it wasn't normal and that she'd be fine.

Anyway, have spent all afternoon in bed, and am going back there now for a while.

Thank you to everyone for all the well wishes .... I hope everyone is okay today and will hopefully catch up later.

Hi Everyone

Janine- so sorry to hear about your result. My infertility is caused by endometriosis, don't know if it makes it easier or harder when you know why. Look after yourself. Big Hugs.

Staci -sorry to hear you had to cancel, hopefully they will get you all sorted out and then you will have a massive chance of it working.

Sandra - take it easy, hope your cramps ease up, take it easy and just do as much or as little as you want on the 2ww.

Caroline, things sound like they are going well.

Jeanie, things sound good, our clinic use sedation, its certainly an interesting experience, is your other half going in with you, mine did, combine all the drugs with my dh in scrubs and I could have sworn he was George Clooney.

Ellie, we test on the same day.

Hope everyone else is doing ok, I am planning to spend the evening watching Big Brother with my feet up.

Janine,

So sorry to hear this tmt won't be the one. If your journey takes you all the way to IVF, we've got a lot of combined experience with that, so we'll be here. I have confidence that some form or tmt will work for you, as you are still very young.

My problem is "buggered tubes" as the UK girls call it. It is nice to know the cause, but I may have other problems as well. One IVF cycle isn't enough to know for sure. So rest up good and we hope to see you here again soon beginning a successful tmt!

Staci,

I'm so sad you had to cancel. IVF is enough of a rollercoaster as is - you must feel like you didn't even get a shot at it this time. But I guess it is better to end it now than go in with a large chance of a -ve. Hope the next one is it for you!

Sandra,

Hope you are feeling more yourself and the pain isn't too bad. What a nightmare ET - maybe it's good luck? :) Best of luck for a speedy 2ww (is there such a thing?).

Jeanie,

I also look forward to sedation/anaesthesia. I had to quit drinking 15 years ago, so that's the only chance I get to have a "little something extra"

Caroline,

Good luck on your scan today! Sounds like things are going well. Would love to have a 40+ mommie on the board to give all of us hope!

Wendy and Ellie,

Hope you also have a speedy 2ww and we're hoping for 2 BFPs on the 17th!

As for me, I start testing for LH surge on Monday. FINALLY get to use all those ovulation predictor kits I bought back when I thought timing was our only problem  . Have a scan to make sure no cysts and lining development good on Wed. LOVE this natural FET cycle!

Sorry if I forgot anyone!

Janine, so sorry about your -tive. My thoughts are with you. It just isn't fair.

Staci, I am so sorry that you had to cancel. All we ever do is wait, wait, wait. At least you will be in tip top shape when you do get to start your cycle again.

Sandra, Hope you are feeling better. Good luck with your 2WW.

Jeanie, 15 follies is great. Good luck on Monday.

Speaking of follies I just found out that I only have 8. I was a little disappointed but then I thought it only takes 1. :) The tech said they are all around 10 in size. I have to go Sunday for more bw and us. I am hoping that they tell me my retrieval date. I have to run. My husband is taking me to the see The Bourne Supremacy. Matt Damon - YUM. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!
Good luck to everyone!

Jeanie,

It sounds like things are going well. That is a good number of follies. I know what you mean about worrying about every little thing that could possibly go wrong, but is sounds like you are doing a good job keeping things in perspective. Good luck for EC on Monday!

Sandra,

Sorry about your bad experience with the ET and I really hope you are feeling better at this point.

Janine,

I hope you are doing okay and that you have given your credit card a good workout. I know how hard it is to get a -tive.
Take care of yourself.

Alicia,

You are so, so lucky to be doing a natural FET. It's almost even like conceiving naturally (or certainly as close as any of us are going to get anyway)! So, when your ovulation predictor shows the LH surge, you just call the clinic and then they schedule the ET? Do they schedule it for the next day or 3 days later? I still don't completely understand why my clinic can't do an unmedicated one for me. They say it's because my cycles aren't regular but I have one of those electronic ovulation monitors which we were using prior to all of this and, according to that, I do ovulate .... usually just not until somewhere between Day 22 and Day 28 of my cycle.

Candy,

Eight follies isn't bad and it's especially good if they are all around the same size.

Hope you enjoyed the movie!

I was feeling better about things until we went out tonight and ran into a couple we know that has the most adorable 3 little kids. DH was playing catch with the little boy and having a great time with him. He would be such a great father as little kids love him. Of course, I felt the tears welling up in my eyes. Sometimes it just seems like it's never going to happen. At least, when I'm in the middle of treatment I feel like there is some shred of hope but now that I'm a good 3 months off from trying again, I just feel like this is going to be more wasted time.
Unfortunately, at my age, time is not a luxury that I have! It's also just that terrible feeling of not being able to plan anything in one's life. Sometimes I almost wish I'd be told that we definitely can't have children and that there is absolutely no chance. I know that sounds strange but, at least that way, I could just put it behind me and get on with life. It just seems like I can't move forward with anything until I know how things will turn out.

Anyway, sorry if I am depressing everyone! In a bit of a feeling sorry for myself mood tonight.

Hope you are all having a nice weekend.

Slowest growing follicles in the August Cycle!

Post by Chubbs »

Hi everyone
Struggling through this cycle, day 10 of stimulating with max. dose and finally my follicles have decided to grow, slowly and secrete eostradiol! Gone from175-575 in two days so who knows what will happen over the next 3 days. (Finally the massive cyst has ruptured )I think the clinic were giving up on me as they didn't measure the follicles (4) except for one and a very quick measure of the endometrium as they thought my levels wouldn't have increased and I would be a failed cycle. With PMA I'm injecting until Monday to see what happens, maybe I'm just a late developer or my ovaries have had enough as this has happened on the last two cycles. The IVF nurse was good and discussed other options of egg donation or adoption but I'm not there yet and I think this will be my last cycle considering my high FSH etc.
I'm hanging in there.....................just.
Great to hear everyone elses news news.
Staci sorry to hear about your delay and Janine sorry to here about your negative. Good luck Caroline for EC. All the best to those that I have missed

Janine,

Sorry to hear about your negative result.
Make sure you spoil yourself lots and spend loads of money at the shops. It's the rules.

Sandra,

Hope you feel better soon. Welcome to that crazy 2ww.

Good luck to all ladies currently on the 2ww. I'm nearly there - thank god. Only 3 more days.

Staci,

My cycles are extremely regular at 28 -29 days each. Maybe that's why they're allowing a natural FET cycle. Also all my hormone levels seem to be good naturally according to the many tests.

I don't really know exactly how it works, but it looks like they do the ET 5 days after the LH surge. My embryos are 5 days old. Only they don't thaw them until just before transfer, so one always hopes enough of them survive the process to go ahead.

Also, totally know what you mean about not being able to plan your life. It sometimes makes me want to give up on all of this, just so we will know for sure we won't have kids (I have no tubes, so no chance of "accidental" pregnancy). But I just can't yet.

Chubbs,

Wow, it is amazing your levels have gone up that much. You may just surprise yourself and everyone at the clinic, yet! We would all love so much to see you complete this cycle with a BFP. It only seems fair!

Hi everyone,
Staci, I'm so sorry to hear you had to cancel - I was looking forward to cycling again with you. It's always something with this, isn't it. Take care of yourself.
Janine, so sorry about your neg. I'm 'unexplained' too. The dr. just said that means they haven't worked out what's wrong yet. Don't know if that made me feel better or worse. My fertilisation was quite low last time, though - only 4 out of 8, they said they would expect higher, so maybe that's a clue. Maybe they'll try ICSI this time, although I haven't discussed with the drs yet.
Sandra, look after those little embies! I was so nervous about everything till I got to that bit - would they get enough eggs, would any fertilise, would any make it to day 5... at least once they got in there I felt like they'd made it that far - and at my clinic you get to see them on a video screen, we watched our little one divide while we waited for the dr to show up, can you believe! (it was easter saturday and she was running late). I was really amazed.
Still waiting for AF to show up - she's a day late so far, but tested this morning and -ve so i guess she's just being a pain.
Take care everyone, good luck to you all!
