It's hello from me and hello from them!

Post by Tracey S »

Helloooooooooooooooooooooo!
Only me - have not read your messages yet but thank you now because sure they are lovely! will read after this if have time
WEll I was right they were not wanting to come out but bake longer so Jules could win her bet! 36 hours of induced labour - a sodding nightmare and most distressing as 30 hrs were tied to a bed as had a sodding drip and had to monitor the twins. They put the epidural in at 3cm which is all I flaming well got to despite every drug going to speed it along as they said might not get an anaethestist and as strapped to the bed etc.......
I apparently have the strongest back ligaments ever - isn't that typical so had to practically drill it in  Eventually they said enough is enough as did I in no uncertain terms (you know me)and C Section. Emily Charlotte was born first on the 5th at 10.23 pm head first weighing in at a 6lb14 and 2 minutes later Alice Isobel arrived at 6lb5 bottom first weeing all over the team and then the paedatrician! Tasteful! They are delightful and despite a nightmare induction I can honestly say I am on cloud nine - we both are. Alice is dark and petite with olive type skin and is the spit of me (poor sod) and Emily is just like DH - blond hair (though he did darken later and is now just plain grey  ) and looks just like him - she has this face that he has when he has eaten too many dried apricots........ leave that up to you lot
I have been so lucky - fantastic pg and now apparently I am duck to water...... they breast feed no problem though have been getting 2 hours sleep a night as Alice is so dam greedy and always wants to be up and at it - sound familiar? But finally last night having told a stream of visitors to bog off we wanted the day to ourselves (the first I might add) we setteled them more and Alice was fed at 10 then 3 then woke her up at 7.15 and Emily decided to be a bit more awkward but did her 10 and on and off to 12 then 3 then woke her up at 7.15! Hey ho - mind you probably all go to pot today as have friends over from BAhrain all day!
The hopsital was so hot - floor to ceiling glass south facing - can you imagine it but I decided not to stress and apparently am the most laid back mummy they have ever seen- don't see it myself. Have not really been "down" at all except had a couple of crys when so tired the other night and said I wish DH had breasts - and Emily has removed the top of one nipple - hey ho that's life! All in all the negative sides I just live with and realize there are times when I could just lie down and not wake up and think sod them but these are few and they are the most perfect girls and I feel or we feel so very blessed I can't begin to tell you. May I say thank you for those who have sent cards and Jules those toy mobile phones are fabby (for those who remember I dropped my mobile down the toilet whilst pg!) Traci the card is great and you signed your name.
I am sending you loads of love and miss you all enourmously - will try and pop on when I can but you know....

Ps went for a walk yesterday - how cool is that and am only 2lb over my pre pregnancy weight but have a few feet of black tummy to shift - seemed to tan more in hospital for some reason and tummy went black!

Loads of love
Tracey, Emily and Alice

Hi Tracey,
So glad to hear your news! I missed you! and not only me I imagine. I don't know if you were the most laid back mummy but you must be the most positive mummy ever and this gives me great confidence that all will be well with us too. Good that they finally did a C-section, I don't think these babies wanted to go out at all! It is really interesting that one is already resembling you and the other dh, I heard a story from a colleague of dp who had a boy and girl IVF and the boy is totally blond like her dh and the girl completely dark like her! Me and dp are also very different - although both tall, he is blond and I am dark so I am curious how ours will turn out. I wish you fast recovery and the best of time with your wonderful daughters - you all deserve it.
love,
juliana

Hi Tracey and girls,

Lovely to hear all of the gory details. It seems as if Emily and Alice really wanted Auntie Jules to be 'in the money' but alas it wasn't to be.

It sounds like it's all going great, although you need to tell those visitors to give you a bit of space. I'd forgotten about the constant stream of people trampling through the house until you said that.

You're doing a fantastic job as a Mummy, as we all knew you would. Have you thought of writing a book for how to have a model twin pregnancy and settle straight into twin motherhood?

Funny that you have one twin that looks like you and one that looks like Ian, just like us (well no, what I mean is one looks like me and one like Alan; neither of our two look like you or Ian). I wonder if it's a hidden extra in IVF to keep all of the family happy!

Glad you liked the 'phones. Daniel and Charlotte played with theirs until they wore out and I just had to get them for Emily and Alice. They've been sitting on top of the wardrobe for months, just in case you had an early arrival ... as if!

Take care and give those girls a hug from me.

Love Jules

Tracey!

I'm so glad to see that things are going well for you and DH. It sounds like you have definitely taken right to being a mother and your little girls sound lovely.

I have to say I am amazed by the fact that you are only 2 lb. over your prepregnancy weight. I would think that'd be quite an accomplishment for someone having a single baby; let alone twins! Well done!

I will keep this short as I'm sure you don't have much time for reading but just wanted to say congratulations and hello. We've missed you!

Love,
Staci

Congratulations Tracey!!!!

It was great to hear from you. Your daughters must be bringing you so much joy! What a blessing.

I thought of you last night as my DH and I were in our 2nd Multiples class at the hospital. There was another couple expecting twin boys and her DH was from England and their last name was Sharp. Yes - you were on my mind!

Well - get to rest when you can and please give me all the advice you can to fatten up my 14 ounce girls (22 weeks) to get them to be the sizes of Alice and Emily.

Tracey,

How wonderful to read your post! You and DH will be wonderful parents, after all you have gone through together. And it is so precious that the girls favor each of you! It sounds like you have limitless energy - I hope your outlook stays so positive through the sleep deprivation. It's so nice you took a day for just you and DH with them.

I know you're busy, but shouldn't you change your signature? I think it worked this time

Well done Tracey! Like a duck to water in that first email. Congratulations.

So glad things are going well. It's not unusual for things to suddenly go up and down though so be prepared for a bad day or two along the way.

I'm deeply envious of the twins ease with latching on, Maya didn't ever get it and after 3 hungry weeks, we switched to formula. She's never looked back.

Enough...out for walks already! You just take it a little easier please :) They'll find their own way soon and then the fun will start. I agree with Wibbs though, as soon as the smiles come around 2m, life gets very rewarding indeed. Maya is 15m and started kindergarten this week. She loves it and waves bye-bye as I tearfully walk off!

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
love
Debra.

Just off to feed but thanks for all the lovely message - for those of you on my email list I have sent piccies this am - just two when they were born - will do others when I have time between paragliding and walks etc! Alice has such fat cheeeks now she looks like a chip monk.
For all those pg with twins - chocolate and loads of it is the answer to heavy babies and relaxed ones
