My twins are just over 4 months old and I havn't stopped bleeding since i had them!!!
At 5 weeks went to the doctor and he said I probably had an infection so gave me antibiotics -no good.
After 7 weeks or so I went for a scan and the hospital said I had retained products so had to have a D&C.
Bleeding still didn't stop so went back to the hospital had a few tests and they said I had another infection and gave me more antibiotics.
Since then I have been back and forth to the doctors and hospital about 100 times and they keep fobbing me off with different things, 1 changed my pill, 1 said it was because I had twins, 1 said its breakthrough bleeding etc etc.......................
Nobody seems to give me anything or do anything to stop it and its getting me down!!!!!
I can't wear all my summer clothes I can't go swimming etc..
I am now on an 8 week waiting list to see a specialist.
Has anyone else experienced bleeding for sooooo long?
I just want it to go away so I can enjoy my twins!!!
I bled for a long time too after I had my twins. Unlike you, I didn't have retained placenta and they could find no reason for the bleeding. I think that I finally stopped bleeding at about 15 weeks and it did all of a sudden stop - there was no gradual lightening of amount, if you know what I mean. At the time I too was frustrated that they could find no explanation but I think that it was just one of those post-pregnancy things in my case. I hope that your bleeding either stops soon or that you get an explanation, although 8 weeks seems like a long time to wait.
On a slightly different note, my periods didn't start again until 8 months after I gave birth and I don't know if the two were related. I didn't start ovulating properly until just before Daniel and Charlotte's second birthday so my system was well and truly sent out of synch by pregnancy and childbirth.
