When I started the stimming injections in stomach this cycle, I realised just how much weight I've put on since beginning of last cycle (Mar 04). It's all gone on my stomach, nowhere else.
Has anyone else noticed this ? .... is it the medi, or have I simply been pigging out due to not smoking ?
Trace, pls send your personal trainer up here when you're done

I always put weight on during the treatments. I think it's a combo of the meds, comfort eating (which I'm prone to usually) and not doing as much exercise as usual. I also get into this 'wrap myself in cottonwool' state where I treat myself very well.........any excuse!

3 weeks on from my -ve, I have gone back to doing all the normal things - not treating myself and exercising, so the weight has come off again. I think it's only natural given the hoops we ladies have to jump through, that we relax and therefore some weigh creeps on. I also think that general bloating you have through this process adds to a feeling of being "heavy".
I am also a smoker, so giving up makes those taste buds spring into action again - double pain!!!
Don't worry about it too much ... you need to keep those embies happy!
The same thing happened to me! I had to go buy new pants because I couldn't button mine! I usually do not gain weight in the belly, but through this cycle I sure did while I was on the stim drugs! My doc told me that when stimming, my ovaries became the size of peaches! That plus all the swelling -- wait until you go for EC -- I came home even more bloated and looked about six months pregnant the next morning! Of course it is all worth it and I have treated myself to whatever I have wanted to eat! And hopefully we will get BFPs and not care about our weight anyway!!

I guess I must be wierd I have actually lost weight during this cycle(not a good sign for a positive result) I think it is due to the amount I am drinking I don't feel I can eat that much.
When I get a negative tommorrow I am planning to go and buy myself so lovely new clothes and keep up drinking all the water to keep the weight off!! I always find it comforting to have a plan for after testing day.
I too have experienced the dreaded weight gain. It is a combo of the drugs and not being able to do any serious cardio....of course not modifying my eating pattterns to accommodate less burned calories has not helped! I've also found that being on the POI's makes things still bloated. At my last scan, the nurse said my ovaries are still huge and that I have active follicles. How can that be if I'm PG? I went out and did some cheap shopping so I have something to wear that isn't tight!
Thanks for all your inputs girls.... I don't feel quite as bad now
Debra ... yeah, I've been doing all of that too ! I looked at myself naked in a long mirror today, and hell, it was a fright. I've always complained to DP about my belly, but now there really is something to be ashamed of !
Belsy .. you've lost it all in 3 weeks ! Gosh, well done you. I don't think I could shift this in 3 months
Shannon .... I'm afraid I think I've lost all the bloatedness now. This is just good old fashioned flab ..!
Ellie ... you will need to shop for new clothes ... but LARGER ones, not smaller PMA !
Paige ... I don't know re the active follies ... I suppose maybe they take a while to calm down whether you're pregnant or not ?
Thanks girls ..... .... Sandra x

It's amazing what a loss of appetite, 200 fags and pounding the treadmill in anger and frustration can do after a negative ... I don't wish that on anyone!
I will give up the fags again and start getting ready for the next round!
On a serious note, don't worry about a few extra pounds, it will be worth it for a BFP!
i have gained alot of weight. and i havent done ivf for over a year now. it doesnt seem like it has been that long.
hopefuly i will stop gaining weught

we werent blessed with our babies to raise here but we our blessed with our grandaughter
and all of our many adopted and foster children that touch our lives
and i am glad to add that our 6th grandchild will be born this spring!!!!
I have gained 5 lbs and I'm really happy about it. I think the shock of finding out I was infertile, having the flu for 6 weeks and then having surgery to get the tubes removed took its toll. I weighted 95lbs. during my last IVF (I'm not even 5 feet tall).
Yesterday I weighed 100, which should be much better for ET on Thursday. I really think the extra 5 lbs. will help - that's a lot when you're as short as I am.
It's not so much the weight for me though. When I'm really fit I actually weigh about 110lbs. I've lost all muscle and am now thin but ultra flabby. Will definately get back to exercising if it's a -ve. But that's really unlikely, isn't it (PMA,PMA,PMA)?
