First Trimester Friends

Post by Paige »

Hello All of you first trimester lucky Moms to be!

I thought I'd start a thread for us over here, I feel bad talking about being pregnant on the General Forum, so hopefully we can chat on this side! :D

I just had my 6 week scan and the nurse can see 2 of something! But the shape of my uterus is odd, so she is sure of the first embryo...can see everything, but not sure about the second spot. They keep telling me every time that I go, we'll know more the next time.

I'm already growing out of my clothes, but that can be attributed to the crazy drugs and how they fill you up with fluid, so I'm not sure it's twins. I go back Tuesday for another scan. This is driving me crazy.

All I know is that I'm thrilled we got a +tive on our first attempt, as I don't know if I would have done another cycle. I'm sure I would feel differently if I didn't have a 4 yr old daughter, but IVF is really physically and emotionally draining. So I'm keeping my legs crossed every time I sneeze!

Hi Paige

It sounds like we're both at the same stage... I've also just had my first 6 week scan.... how exciting... and there were also two little blobs there. The doctor said that one was particularly small, so might not last, but we'd know more in 2 weeks, at the next scan... here's to legs crossed for both of our blobs!!!

This was also my first attempt at IVF- and my first pregnancy. I am shocked at how tired I have been.... and feel like I have a constant hangover, that has been going on for the past week. I hope that the nausea will soon go away, but I keep telling myself it's all for a good cause! How have you been feeling? Do you have any sure-fire morning sickness cures???

My clothes are still fine at the moment, but I do keep rubbing my tummy, just to check....

Look forward to hear how you're getting on.
Take care and cross those legs!

Hi Paige and Tanya

Mind if I join your thread, even though you are both a week or so ahead of me.

I got a BFP on Tuesday with HCG of 133, I went back today to collect more drugs so they did another blood test and its risen to 699. I have my 7 week scan 2 weeks on Wednesday.

It was our 5th attempt at IVF, this is my first pregnancy, it was a fet. My Dh and I are still just in shock I think.

I know what you mean about feeling weird on the general forum now and its great to carry on being able to chat with people in the same position, although I still feel a bit nervous talking about it.

Speak to you later

Hi to everyone!

Looks like this may be the place for me now! I feel bad talking about my BFP on the other side as well! I am just behind Wendy! I just got my BFP yesterday and my scan is still two weeks out! I am so excited -- and I barfed today! Wow -- I definitely have morning sickness and no appetite what-so-ever! Which I should think is a good thing as my clothes are not fitting as a result of the drugs, I had quite a bit of weight gain with the shots that I was not expecting. So I hope to curb that somewhat! I have a 14 year old son, but I will tell you, it was so long ago and I was pretty young, so it all feels new to me! (But I did gain 80 pounds when I was pregnant with him - he was over 10 pounds - but I don't want to gain that much weight with this pregnancy!)

Wendy -- 5th time lucky! Wow! I am sooooo happy for you! That is great and now your little girl will have a sibling! That is great. I told my husband that if we only get one out of this batch, we will have to do it again because I don't want another only child -- seeing as how my son will be more like an uncle than a brother with the big age gap!

I am still in shock as well!

We're all so close together! How exciting!
Shannon I was laughing at your weight gain with your first child! I gained 60 lbs and my daughter was 10 lbs 8.6 oz! A definate C-Section. I have also experienced weight gain with the shots...so I'm already starting out with 5 extra lbs....now my belly is expanding, the clothes are getting ridicules and I'm only 6 weeks! Thank goodness for low rise, or I wouldn't be able to wear any of my clothes!

I'm trying not to gain as much weight this time and wish that I had some morning sickness....Tanya & Shannon! It seems like I have some morning sickness but all I do is eat to make it go away! I envy you two, though I'm sure it sucks to be that sick feeling.

My next scan is Tuesday with the Dr. (rather than the nurse) so hopefully someone can tell me if it's one or two babies. I think the more time I have to prepare mentally the better ha ha.

Wendy...I can't believe you did this 5 times. You are a very strong woman, and I envy that. Shannon, you're already talking about it again! If this pregnancy doesn't work out, I think I'm done. I really have been pretty miserable giving up my life to go through treatment that may or may be successful. Thank goodness it worked. I know that sounds like downer, but I mean it.

I'm also still taking progesterone shots.... 6 weeks of it, my butt is starting to look like Sponge Bob with bruising. I'm begging the Dr. for suppositories and he won't do it yet. My progesterone has been over 80 the last 2 weeks they've tested it, and I think that might even be high? How about shots every other day????

Good Morning Girls, :D :D

Just popping on to say firstly CONGRATULATIONS to you all for geting your BFP and welcome to the other side, please feel free to ask questions, as most of us now on this side have had there bundles of joy, so that is why it's a bit quite, one we are knackered in a nice way  , or feeding and changing :? .

1. Being sick is good that means the body is doing what it should, but that does not mean if you are not being sick you are not to worry  that does not make sense, but some people have more sickness than others.

2. chill and rest no stressing :? :? you had enought of that on the 2ww
Time will go quickly now, and then you will be all missing your bumps so please enjoy.

Take care

Hi there
Just wanted to say welcome to you all!!
Some of you are already experts at this by the sounds of it - but if any of us can help the dont hesitiate to ask! I freaked about EVERYTHING............feeling sick, not feeling sick, not putting wight on, sudden putting weight on, weird back ache, weird tummy ache.......its ALL normal !! So as Wibbs says TRY to relax (by the way I'm heading into by 5 month scan and really should be taking some of my own advice!!) :)

Anyway - welcome again. Sounds like you are all donig so well, rising pregnancy hormones is a mega good sign and seeing a heart beat at 6 weeks, I think means a 98% chance of everything going just fine. Not bad odds I guess!!

TAke care and CONGRATULATIONS!! Enjoy!

Cazxx

ps - I found ginger biscuits and diet coke helped for sickness, I have NO actual being sick but just felt rough until 12 weeks when it vanished (well for MOST of the time!)

Hi there,

Just wanted to say congratulations to you all & well done on coming to the other side. I have been reading all your posts on the other side & praying you would all join us on here. I am 16 weeks today (yipee) :D , this also is my first ivf.
Morning sickness has now gone but I suffered alot with it at the start. I found eating water melon a great help in the mornings, but it may not work for everyone.

Anyway congratulations again & take care of those special bumps! :D :D

Congratulations Shannon and Wendy!! It sounds like we're all still in a state of shock.... it's sooooo fantastic!!!

I'm afraid that I am not losing any weight by feeling nauseous all the time.... I am constantly looking for things to help get rid of the feeling. I haven't been sick--- and really hope I won't be... We had to rush out this morning to the English shop in the next town to us to bulk buy salt and vinegar crisps, as I heard they help..... for all of about 5 minutes!!!

I have also tried chocolate milk... that was a very good one... but I'm trying to avoid caffeine, so want to be a bit careful with that one. I'm sure that coke could probably help too.... but once again, caffeine....

Do you guys feel REALLY tired too????

How about exercise? Have you been doing any? What would you recommend? I feel like I spend any spare time I have either lying down reading or sleeping.

Paige, can you not ask your doctor to prescribe you with progesterone pessaries? My doctor was talking abotu going onto injections- but I said I'd prefer to stay with the pessaries as long as possible. My doctor has prescribed crinone (that's what it's called in Germany, anyway)- and you just need to use it once a day, before you go to bed.

Take care of yourselves.

P.S. Sorry to sound a little dense, but what is BFP????

Hi Paige, Tanya and Shannon

Glad you are all doing ok. I haven't been sick, its more of a heartburn, queasy type feeling I'm having. Been reading stuff about morning sickness maybe Tanya you could try some of the suggestions:

Crackers, dry toast and dry cereal are supposed to absorb stomach acid
Lemonade and watermelon are supposed to alleviate symptoms
Ginger is also supposed to help.

Let me know how you get on and if any of these work.

Paige, its exciting for Tuesday, 2 babies would be fab, also a wee bit scary but great as well. We have 3 frozen embryos left so if things go well maybe they can be used to try for more.

Shannon, when is your next appointment. I know what you mean about the weight thing, my jeans are feeling a wee bit tight more to do with the hormones, but my chest has got a wee bit bigger as a couple of my more fitted tops are not as comfortable as they were.

Question: :?

Do any of you know what the position is with eating nuts and seeds, is it just peanuts that need to be avoided? I've taken a real liking to sunflower, seasame and pumkin seeds.

Hope you all have a good restful weekend

Hiya Wendy

Thanks for the advice... have been searching high and low for lemonade over here.... :( but I'm sure that'll be a good one. Sounds like we're having the same sort of feeling. Have also been doing the ginger thing- and just bought some green tea with ginger and lemon... let's see if that helps. I heard that lemon was good too!!

As for nuts and seeds... my understanding was that it was only peanuts because of the chances of future peanut allergies... all other seeds and nuts are heartily recommended, so eat away! I wish that my 'cravings' were that healthy!

Good luck on Tuesday, Paige!
Take it easy, put your feet up and let your DHs spoil you rotten!!

Hi You Lucky Ladies...I just wanted to say 'Hi' and that I, along with many others, will be tracking your progress. Soooooo exciting to have the next group of pregnancies already. Gives us all hope.

Tanya - I noticed you mentioned using Crinone before bed. I used it for some of my tmts but was expressly told NOT to use it before bed. That I had to be upright and active to help it spread around and do its job. I know that's not a very good description, but like you, my tmt is in a foreign language. DF is local though so I'm confident of our instructions. I just wanted to mention it.

Again, good luck to you all.
hugs

Hi Girls,

Well, I had my second blood draw today and I didn't double -- I went from 176.8 to 292.6. I am really worried, I haven't been as queasy today and my boobs are not nearly as tender as they were before. Has anyone else experienced this? I have to go back Monday for another blood test because my clinic is concerned -- which of course elevates my concern.

Dang, this is hard!
