Baby asprin?

Post by jill dickens »

Hi, I am two weeks into my first Egg Donor IVF cycle. I am looking for any advice on useing 75mg of asprin after ET. My nurse had no objections but I am wondering why exactly you would use it and are there any possible problems. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks jill x

Hi Jill and Welcome....aspirin is a hotly debated topic on here!

Some clinics say 'OK, if you want to', very few seem to actively recommend it for general use and mine, amongst others, are firmly anti and say there's just not enough evidence to support its use. Having said that, depending on your particular circumstances, sometimes it's recommended for certain issues/treatments.

Not sure this helps!

Jill:

My clinic has advised me to take one baby aspirin 80mg and a prenantal vitamin every day since we started the ivf cycle. They say it increases blood flow to the ovaries and follicles while producing eggs and then to the uterus to help with implantation. Years ago, they used to do it only with women who have had a failed IVF cycle, now they do it with everyone.
There is an article on http://www.ivillagehealth.com/experts/f ... _freqCap=2 this link that talks about it.

All I know is that I'm still taking it, I've had one ivf cycle and am almost 7 weeks pregnant.

Hi Jill,

My clinic uses the baby aspirin as well and I am 4 weeks pregnant -- just got my +ive last week!

Here are some comments from an article regarding baby aspirin and IVF:

The implantation rate per embryo was 17.8% in the aspirin group and 9.2% in the placebo group

The clinical pregnancy rate for the aspirin group was 45%, compared to 28% for the placebo group

Hi

I used baby aspirin on my 5th and last tmt, and am now a very proud Mummy to 20 week old Megan, so I say go for it. My clinic was of the opinion to take it if you want to, so I did!

Good luck each and every one of you.

Thank you all for your advice. My nurse said not to start taking the aspirin until after ET, when have other people started? Thanks Jill x

I started it when I started my stim shots....the studies are leading people to believe that the increased circulation may improve egg quality.
