San2,

Welcome to the board! It's so great that you found us before starting the 2ww (2 week wait)! You should take a look at and post to the September Cycle Buddies thread, too. I am an August Cycle Buddy, but I'm afraid that group will be drying up by the time you test, though you're welcome to join us, too!

Best of luck to you with your cycle. I hope your dreams come true!

Hi San2

Welcome to the Boards ..... You'll find nothing but great support here ... there are so many lovely girls who will no doubt be able to answer, or at least give an opinion, on any questions you have ... and be able to empathise with all you are going through :) You've definitely joined at the right time ! Best of luck for EC (egg collection) tomorrow. Let us know how you go on.

San2, Hi and Welcome. Definitely come and chat on the September buddies board :D There are a few of us on there already but more will always join as, like you, they find the board. If my stimming goes well, I'll have ET next Tuesday so our dates won't be far apart

You're also not the only person in the Netherlands currently having treatment. There's someone who is getting married today (HOORAY!) so will be off for a while. She's on the 2ww but has also posted on the September board. There's also someone over on the pg board in the Netherlands, expecting twins very, very soon - quite a crowd!

Hugs and good luck for tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the lovely welcome Alicia, Sand & DebraP.

Well I had my egg collection this morning and was not a nice experience for me  .
I must say I really did suffer a lot of pain even when I had plenty of pain relief. The Doctor was really nice which helped a lot. I was crying quite a lot and she told me that was the side effect of the pain relief?

They only managed to take out 5 eggs because the other ones were far too near my womb. The Doctor didn't want to take the risk. I was very disappointed with this as I had more to give. The Doctor told me that 5 was good!

We were planing IVF but now we are doing ISCI because they found my DH had a low sperm count this morning. He had to produce another sample but this was also bad.

Will get results tomorrow to see if the eggs are good. All being well Thurday will be the transfer.

Going to rest today and put my feet up.

P:S Alicia is it not too late for me to post in September Cycle Buddies?

Cheers,
San2

San,

Sorry the EC was such a bad experience for you. Didn't they give you sedation? I was completely out for mine so didn't feel or remember a thing. I was in pain afterwards but I don't see why you should have had to suffer during the EC itself. Also, didn't they test your DH's sperm prior to accepting you for IVF? I know that my clinic took several samples when we had our pre-IVF tests.

At any rate, I hope you are starting to feel a little better at this point.

Welcome to the message boards. It was a huge help for me when I went through my first IVF and I still rely on it between treatments.

Wishing you success!

San2,

I'm sorry to hear that EC was so painful. Apparently sometimes it is and sometimes it is not, but I hope you are healing quickly. I don't know much about ICSI, but many, many women on the board have had it - I think it may even be more common than IVF in Europe.

Best of luck for all of the eggs to fertilize. If you haven't gotten it yet, you will probably get a call from the lab telling you how it is going. It was such a sweet surprise when we got the call, because we didn't know that was how it worked.

And it's never too late to join the Sept. Buddies list, it just starts to die down by the end of the month. For example, the August one is pretty dead now, but Sept. is very active.

Hi San2

I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad time in EC .....I've only every had EC under general, so I've no recollection at all. I'm sure from what some other girls have said that EC under sedation/local does sometimes cause emotional outbursts ... I'm sure your hospital/clinic have seen it all before many time, so pls don't worry.

Five eggs is actually four more than you need !! :) As everyone will tell you, you only need one !!! This has been proved time and again.

You are doing right ... lots of rest, rest, rest ..... Best of luck for ET on Thursday xxxx

Hi San, I echo Sandra's comments. You do only need one and there are lots of people on the other board who can testify to that. I hope you hear good news tomorrow about how they're doing.

I've never been 'out' cold for EC but depending on the drugs you can be aware of quite alot of pain, or not. I've always been sedated and had 9/10 follies collected each time, but the first time was painful during and after, plus I was awake throughout. The 2nd time, was with different sedation meds and I was so relaxed and sleepy, I zonked out half way through. Sorry that wasn't your experience. The good news is that's the worst physical part over and done with. ET is a complete doddle in comparison, takes a couple of mins, zero pain....bit anti-climatic actually :D

Come post on the September thread! We've not really kicked off yet and it's never too late. People join as and when they decide to, there's no sign-up date or anything. Just post a message tell folks a bit about yourself and people will reply!

Good luck with ET.
hugs
Debra.

San2,

CONGRATULATIONS ON 3 FERTILIZED!!!!

This is fabulous new and indicates that your eggs and sperm are very high quality. It is a great ratio - over 50%. Sometimes they will expose the other eggs again to see if any more fertilize.

Best of luck for ET - it must be coming up tommorrow or the next day?

Hi San 2.

Just wanted to reassure you that 5 eggs was fine & 3 fertilized even better!

My first attempt I got 8 eggs & only 3 fertilized so they put 2 back. This 2nd time they gave me far more stimms medication & it cost a lot more, but we still only got 8 eggs & what was worse, the next day they phoned to tell me that only 3 had matured & only 1 fertilized. Consequently they could only put that one back. I am waiting to test tomorrow, but if it does happen it will only be one, unless it divides, which is a shame, as although my hubby only really wanted one, as he has two children virtually my age, as he is 20 years older than me, I was hoping it would be twins then he wouldn't have a choice!

Relax & all you can do now is wait. Bit of advice. Don't do as I did & do a HPT 3 days early. It came up negative on Monday night, but everyone here tells me it's still possible tomorrow, so make sure you wait till the right day & perhaps blood tests are the way to go.

Good luck & keep in touch with everyone here. We are all here to support eachother!

Love & best wishes to you & hubby. Mandy (Miller)xxx :)
