Hi everyone! We had our scan today and it looks like we started out with twins, but one didn't make it (they say that was probably the reason for my hcg not doubling and my symptoms going away for that weekend). We clearly saw two sacs; one with a heartbeat and a baby!!! The baby that did make it is doing great! Measures exactly on target and the heartbeat is at 125 beats per minute! So looks great. My progesterone and estrogen are also great -- I get to go down to one Vivelle (estrogen) patch starting tomorrow and then have more bloodwork on Monday to determine if we get to cut back on the progesterone shots! Good news! We are so excited -- after seeing the heartbeat, it becomes more "real!"

How is everyone else?

Alicia!! I can't wait to hear how your scan went! Maybe Paige is right and it is three babies! You will be triple blessed!!

Paige,

Don't even THINK that    !!!

Wishing twins is one thing, but triplets quite another!

Shannon, so your scan is actually tommorrow? I am confused. Hope it goes very well, regardless.

Alicia, no, our scan was today! Is yours tomorrow? For some reason I was thinking your scan was scheduled for today. . .

We have a very healthy singleton! Heart beat was 125 beats per minute and (s)he measures right on target!!

Hi !
Well, sorry I didn't check in yesterday I decided to take the whole day off work ! So we went to my gyno, and after waiting for almost 2 hours (dr. was late) ... Anyway after about 10-15 minutes of the dr. checking for the heartbeat, I started to cry because he couldn't find it ! He kept telling me not to worry because this has happened before, and it could be still early !! I was not convinced, SO he sent me over to the hospital for a scan... after another one hour wait they finally called me! And there was our baby waving at us !!! What a RELIEF !! The heart was beating perfectly ! We also think that the baby had the hick-ups... we saw our babys fingers when he/she was waving !! Last week we saw the arms but not the fingers !!! Again I started crying, for joy !! Jaime was so happy he kept kissing my forehead saying, ''I told you everything is OK '' easier said I guess ! PPHHEEWWWW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we go back for another check up on Oct 6 .. (I'll be 16 weeks then ) !!

Alicia,
Great numbers... You must be so excited !!! I can't wait to hear all about it !!

Shannon,
Fantastic news... I don't want to freak you out or anything but at my clinic they've had several cases that there was only one hb and then the following week there was the second, they say that sometimes one takes off a little slower ... Either way girl, you have one healthy baby !!!

Paige,
How's it going ?

And everyone else ??

Teresa: Congratulations! It's a lot easier to see everything with the internal ultrasound....we were able to see the heartbeat at 6.5 weeks, it's amazing isn't it? What a rollercoaster day you had. Atleast they had the sense to send you somewhere else so you could actually see it. Your baby is already waving at you, that is awesome.

Shannon: I have read a lot about vanishing twins with IVF. Hopefully now, you can just focus on that one baby warm snuggly and happy. It must have been quite a relief after all of the spotting. I had also read that your hcg is like a rollercoaster in that situation. I'm so happy you were able to put your mind at ease and know that everything is looking great.

Alicia: I was laughing at your message! I was not trying to be  ! You've had some crazy stuff going on with your hcg levels, spotting, etc. So what could be crazier than TRIPLETS! Actually my Dr. had his first set of triplets deliver this yr from invitro...he said that it is extremely rare as he's been in practice forever! I had 3 transferred as well, and you wouldn't believe the ribbing I had to take from all of my friends who knew! They were sure I'd get 3!

I'm feeling pretty good. I'm showing a lot earlier than with my first, but can't figure out it it's from being so pumped up full of hormones for this cycle or it's just the 2nd pregnancy thing. I've been doing a lot of power walking to try to keep healthy, have had a little bit of am sickness...but mostly in the afternoon, and nothing serious. I'm not wild about the in-between stage where nobody knows you're pregnant but they do think you're getting chubby! With my first pregnancy I had someone meet in the hallway and go...."oh my god, are you pregnant"? I was 6 months! It's very confusing for some people! I'm 9 weeks today, and the hospital is calling to schedule my amnio. The amnio is scaring the bejesus out of me. Is anyone else doing it?

Janem & Pixigini: How are you guys doing? You must be having all kinds of symptoms with twins!

Hi Ladies
Sorry for not posting for a while but we had a scare. I started to bleed last week. Fresh blood like a period. It was really scarey. We rang the clinic and they said bed rest and come in for a scan the following day.
Luckily the twins awere OK but I had a huge haematoma (collection of blood) in the uterus wall. I went back for a scan yesterday and the twins have grown and the haematoma has shrubk abit, so I'm still on bed rest, The bleesding isn't red but brown now which they expect but it's difficult to totally relax. I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow so fingers crossed.

I'm still very tired and the nausea comes and goes. DH is being a super star and has taken time off work to look after me.Hope everyone else is getting on OK
Take care

Janem:

That is scary. Think of everything your body has to do to get ready for 2 babies. There is a lot going on in there. Take it very very easy and I hope the twins are growing by leaps and bounds and the hematoma shrinks into nowhere land. REst Rest REst. It is DH's time to shine.

Hi Janem,

Wow, how scary for you! I am so glad the twins are good! I have realized that pregnancy is so scary! Please take it easy and like Paige said, get lots of rest!

Teresa, how exciting to see your little baby waiving at you!!

Paige, I know what you mean about showing sooner this time around. I am only seven weeks and I can't button my jeans anymore! And it is exactly like you said, no one really knows I am pregnant - they just think I am getting chubby!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Alicia - can't wait to hear about your scan! I hope all is great!

Janem,

How scary that must have been! So sorry you had to go through that, but really relieved to hear that all is well now. I'm glad DH is able to help you get some rest now. It will be so good for you emotionally and physically, I'm sure.

I had my first scan today. It was a little early, because of the bleeding and the high HCG - they wanted to see what was going on. So like I said, only 5 1/2 weeks and too early to tell much, but ...

IT'S TWINS!!!

I just can't believe it. I was worried about how DH would take it, but he is so proud! He scanned the ultrasound photo as soon as we got home. No heartbeats or anything yet at this stage, but they are the same exact size, so fingers crossed! Guess I'll be joining Janem and Pixiegini on the twin adventure...

Shannon,

So glad you had another ultrasound and that all is well. After what we've been through to get here, every pain and spot is so terrifying.

Paige,

Hm, the in-between stage where everyone thinks you are just fat? That sounds awkward. What do you do for clothes? Just buy a bigger size? We got a fabulous shipment at the boutique today, but I am afraid to buy anything now until I see how it goes with my size. And you were definately right, thinking about multiples for me, but luckily not triplets

Theresa,

I can't believe how well things are progressing for you! Everything seems so fast. It's great that you asked for the scan and could see your little baby waving. How precious! After the slow, dragging 2ww, everything seems to fly by now.

Alicia:

I would hold off on the beautiful new clothes that just came in...as my friend with twins was showing fairly quickly. Congratulations for you...two seems much more managable than 3 doesn't it? :P

Hopefully you can relax and enjoy cooking your little babies now! Mine seems to be cooking quickly...as it's a struggle to get anything normal on this body now! I did go out and buy some bigger things...I'm 5'9 and usually wear a size 6-8...and I went out and bought some size 10 stuff. I can still wear all of it, but it's starting to fit weird unless it's ultra low rise. I don't want any pressure around my growing mid section at all or it makes me feel icky. Is icky a word?

Happy to hear that everything is going as planned for you.....us August testers sure have a lot of twins going on! I'm happy for everyone.

Hi girls,

Just wanted to welcome you all. I have been on holiday for 3 weeks and it was nice to come back to see a lot of you have made it to this side. Take it easy now and try not to worry too much. This, I know, is easier said than done. My dh is used to me complaining when I am tired and have morning sickness and complaining when I don't have morning sickness because I am worried something is wrong. All natural for us new mothers I guess. Glad to see a few twin pregnancies. I am 19 weeks pg with twins. I can tell you I am in maternity clothes and have been since 10 weeks!! Fatigue was and still is a huge sympton of twins. I can't do without an afternoon nap and in the first 12 weeks sometimes I was so tired I thought I'd been drugged. My morning sickness went after 17 weeks so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Good luck with us all and take it easy.

Paige,

Wow, I guess it really won't be long before I won't fit my clothes. You're scaring me a little with that, as I have a lovely new fall wardrobe still with tags on that I've been dying to wear. :? Maybe I will exchange it for larger sizes. Hope all is going well with you!

Shellie,

Thanks for writing. I hope your vacation was fabulous - 3 weeks sounds wonderful! Where did you go? Thanks for telling us about your twins experience. You must feel so thrilled to be at 19 weeks! Oddly, I have has no fatigue or morning sickness yet (6 weeks today). People say to be thankful, but sometimes it makes me worry a little. Oh well, I'm sure those things will come in time.

How is everyone else doing? It's been a bit quiet on here...

Thanks Shellie:

3 week holiday...very nice. We're heading out in early November to Aruba, did you fly to your destination? Were you horribly uncomfortable? I'll be around 18 weeks when we go so I was curious if you had any major discomfort issues.

Also, is anyone else contemplating an amnio? My Dr. is recommending it because I'm 35, and it's freaking me out.

Alicia, just wait! Remember when we were in the 2ww looking for sypmtoms and we kept reminding ourselves that many times symptoms don't even show until 6 weeks -- we I will tell you that my symptoms increased dramatically when I hit that 6 week mark and now I am so sick! Fatigue has also hit hard! I keep ruining meals that I love because I will eat something and then get sick and the thought of the same meal days later makes me ill!

Paige, I am not sure about the amnio. I am not sure what my doctor will recommend because I will be 35 when I deliver, so they may suggest it. When will you have it if you do? Are there other tests they can do to achieve the same results?

Hope everyone is great!
