Discussion forum for those who had completed their IVF treatments without a successful outcome and are seeking other options such as adoption, surrogacy etc.
We have completed the home study for adoption with our local council. We were supposed to go to panel in July but it has been put on hold due to DHs medical. He has a kidney diseaase which we have been totally honest about from day 1. The medical advisor for the panel has spoken to his renal consultant but is not satisfied and now wants to speak to the GP (who is on holiday!) I don't understand why the GP needs to be consulted - she has only met DH twice in 4 years and has already deemed him fit to adopt during the medical she did. I asked my SW if I should worry about this and she wouldn't answer me. I get the feeling she knows alot more than she is letting on to us. Any advice as to what you think is going on??? The not knowing is driving me mad.
Just an update! We go to panel on Wednesday! The team leader who came to do the "quality control" visit says that we have a strong case. AND in light of DH's illness the medical advisor has reccommended that we be matched with a child asap to enable us to bond as a family before DH needs further treatment etc. I am very excited.

I really hope you passed panel and the fact that you have not been on here is because you are celebrating. However, if you want reassurance re people who have had immense medical problems and eventually gone on to adopt please do email me at Menzieshunt@aol.com. I have lots of uplifting stories to tell of people who failed panel first time because of medical reasons and did go on to adopt.
