Paige,
I know what you mean about the clothes not fitting .. I starting wear full maternity clothes at around 9 weeks.. I had started to look to fat in my reg. clothes.. Remember its all worth it !!

Shellie,
Already 19 weeks thats awesome.. Have you found out the sex of the twins yet?

Alicia,
How's it going? When do you return for your next scan ? Stop worying, (easier said than done) I still worry !!! Take it easy... Enjoy every minute !

I am doing pretty !! I am 13 weeks today !! I still feel a little tired, but besides that no m/s what-so-ever.. (can you imagine how much I was worrying everyday thinking that something might be wrong ) !!! Staying positive is what helped !!
Do you believe that so far 3 people that didn't know that I am pg actually asked me !!! I was shocked I didn't think I was showing that much, to be noticed.. what an amazing feeling.. I am starting to look PG not just fat !!!

Anyway how is everyone doing ??

Theresa,

Congratulations - can't believe you are at 13 weeks already! That must be a big relief. Do people actually ask if one is PG? I thought that was considered rude! But in our case, it must feel great!

Shannon,

That is so sad that your favorite meals now make you feel sick! Hopefully that part of it will clear up soon. I think around 17 weeks is what I read? Do you have an easy job that you can still do even when you're very tired?

Paige,

Amnio does sound scary, but I don't know anything about it. I'm sure they would not recommend it unless the benefits far outweigh the risk. They will certainly require it for me at age 38 and with twins. It's definately a "high risk" pregnancy for me. I'll have to start reading up on it now. Please let us know if you find a good source of information.

My next scan is in one week, on Tuesday, Aug 21. I can't wait to see the little blobs again!

Alicia, hopefully next week, you will be able to see the heartbeats on your little blobs! That is really amazing!

I am really lucky, I have a very demanding high pressure job that I do 100% from my couch with my laptop! I negotiate contracts, so I am able to work in 15/20 minute naps in here and there which makes all the difference!

Hi girls,

My day off work today so I thought I would check in.

Paige a trip to Aruba sounds great. I went on a cruise just before starting treatment so this last holiday was just down to Suffolk (I live just outside Edinburgh). It was a great break away though. We have a 2 yr old golden retriever so we drove down. I would not reccommend a 9 hour drive when you are 19 weeks pregnant. It was very uncomfortable!

Teresa, we find out the sex of the babies next wednesday(22/9). I can't wait to make sure everything is fine. I think I'll worry until after they are born and then I will start worrying that I am doing something wrong being a mother. Never ending.... I do have my positive moments as well though.

Shannon, I was like you when it came to preparing food. We found that if Dh made the meals I was more inclined to be able to eat it. If I made it by the time it came to sitting down and eating it the smell had put me off. My morning sickness has passed but DH is still doing a lot of the meals - no complaints here!!

I am considered a high risk pregnancy (because of twins and having crohn's) but they haven't mentioned an amnio so I wouldn't know about that. We did decline the triple blood test though. With twins they can not determine if they have downs with the blood test anyway. As for CF we decided not to find out. What would you do if 1 had CF and the other didn't? We made the decision that we couldn't terminate if there was a problem so what was the point in finding out. Some people need to know so they are prepared. I guess it comes down to personal circumstances.

I am glad everyone seems to be doing well, keep up the good work.

Ladies:

I am a back sleeper and my ob said to sleep on my side. I have a body pillow and 3 regular pillows and cannot get comfortable...and wake up in the middle of the night on my back!

Any suggestions?

Hi Paige,

By any chance, did your doctor say why you shouldn't sleep on your back? I find myself on my back periodically throughout the night and now every time I do, I think of what your doctor said. Have you found any tricks to being more comfortable on your side?

We had another scan on Friday. It is amazing how much the baby grew in one week! At 8 weeks, the baby looked like a little blip with a heartbeat, and last Friday, it actually looked like a baby!!! We could totally make out the shape, the head and the body! It was just incredible!

Morning sickness (or should I say morning, noon and evening sickness) is still here full force! I will be glad to start feeling better!

How is everyone else?

Shannon:

How exciting, you actually got to see something that didn't look like a blob! yipppee!

I think the back sleeping warning is more for 12 weeks +, so I'm just practicing trying to keep on my side....and it's not working. The reason has something to do with the baby laying on veins that supply blood to the placenta so it cuts off the blood supply while lying on your back. I don't have any great advise except for go buy a body pillow and try to use that, though in my case it's only working about 50% of the time.

So you're over 9 weeks now! It's soooo exciting. I will 11 weeks on Thursday. My Dr. told me I could quit the progesterone at 11 weeks, so I'm exciting about being all "natural", for the first time during this pregnancy. Do you know your actual due date?

Unfortunately my morning sickness happens after I get done eating. I wish I was a little queasy before I sat down to gorge myself. I am so unbelievably hungry all of the time that if you put peanut butter on my arm, I'd probably eat it.

How is everyone else doing? It's been a little quiet here!

Hi Paige! I know what you mean, just because I have been so sick, it hasn't stopped me from eating! It is a viscious cycle -- I get so hungry that I feel like if I don't eat, I am going to throw up. So then I do eat and I feel like I am going to throw up! The feeling seems to be constant! I have only actually thrown up a couple of times, the rest of the time, it is that on the verge feeling!

I am actually just 8 and a half weeks right now, so not quite to nine weeks! I had the scan on Friday because the week before, they had seen sac separation bleeding and they wanted to make sure it was healed! (It was not there anymore on Friday) I am not sure if I get another ultrasound now until I get transfered to my ob/gyn. I am still at the infertility clinic until 12 weeks, so I have one more appointment there before being released. I am still on the progesterone and the shots have been hurting so badly lately! I ice up and get myself really numb, but they still hurt! I will be really glad when I can stop those injections! I am also on the vivelle dot patch for estrogen, so it will be nice to discontinue that as well! At the clinic on Friday, I was supposed to have blood work to determine if I could cut back on either the progesterone or the estrogen, but they could not get any blood out of me! I have huge bruises on both arms where they tried in different spots on each arm and I was just dry! So I am supposed to go back today for the blood work!

My due date is April 27 -- what about you? You are a couple weeks ahead of me, so must somewhere early April?

How is everyone else? Paige is right, it has been awful quiet over here!

Hello you guys. Yes it has been very quiet. I think I'm just holding my breath over here after the bleeding incident. Luckily that has not repeated. I posted on the other thread that we saw the heartbeats when they did the scan to check on the bleeding. They still look like blobs - just blobs with heartbeats. :) :)

Shannon,

So sorry to hear about your morning sickness. I do have food aversions, but so far no sickness. My mom never had it either.

Paige,

I am also hungry all the time, although I'm not sure that isn't normal for me anyway - only now more so. I'm struggling to eat nutritious foods, since a cheeseburger and fries often sounds like just the thing. But I eat pretty healthy food usually - brown rice, beans, leafy greens, fruit, etc.

Shellie,

Can't wait to hear if you'll be having boys, girls or one of each!

I was at work on Saturday when my friend who just had her little girl walked by with the baby in a carriage. It was so lovely to just be thrilled with them and no hint of jealousy for once!

Hope you all are doing well. Sounds like you'll be leaving me for a second trimester thread very soon... I'll be right behind you!

HI Girls:

Nice to hear from everyone! I'm feeling really well! I have been on the treadmill, cleaned the kitchen, showered, and am taking my 4 yr old to preschool. Everything is going textbook good so far. I'm still not trying to sneeze or cough too hard though

Teresa: I am thrilled to get off the Progesterone, but my Dr. put me on the suppository after 7 1/2 weeks and seeing the heartbeat. So I will be quitting that, it's much better than the shot, but every once in a while it just comes out of you looking like cookie dough! I know, TMI.

Shannon & Alicia: Are you two due about the same time? Sorry about the morning sickness! I wish I had a little of it so I could quit eating so much. So with twins, do they try to deliver them naturally or is it automatically a C-Section? My daughter was a C-Section, and it wasn't a big deal at all. My Dr. Said they would just schedule this one as another C-Section due to the size of my first baby (10 lbs 8.6 oz!!) due to the second one typically being larger. I'm ok with that.

Shellie: 17 weeks, that is so awesome, have you felt the baby moving yet? You're getting close to that timeframe.

Hi Paige,

Your daughter was huge!!! I have not been transferred to my ob/gyn yet, but when I am, I am going to talk very seriously about having a C section. My son was 10.2 and it was an awful delivery (vaginal). My husband was almost 10 pounds when he was born, so if this is going to be another 10 pounder, I don't want to do it that way again! The doctor had to use forceps on my son and he was so beat up when he was born, I would rather spare this baby the trauma if that is the case!

I still haven't felt well enough to get on the treadmill yet, although I know I need to! I just have not had any energy! I am ready for this phase to pass, although it lasted a full four months with my son! I am out of the first trimester in three weeks, and I hope that is when I start to feel better with this little one!

Alicia, when is your due date? Mine is April 27! My husband's birthday is April 17, wouldn't it be something if they end up having the same birthday?

Shannon:

OH MY GOSH. You delivered a 10 + lb baby vaginally. That is amazing in itself. I only dialated to 4cm because she was just too big to drop into the birth canal. So 28 hours later...C-Section. It wasn't like hard labor anything though. So this time...I'll have a nice shower, shave my legs, get a pedicure and go in to have this baby actually looking like a human being. I'd talk to your OB about a C-Section purely because of the size of your first and the size of your hubby at birth. My hubby was only 7lbs 2 oz, but he was a twin and his sister was 7lbs 1oz! So they were still very large twins.

Okay, you guys are really scaring me with the big baby stories. I'll have to ask DH's mom what size he was. I am very small - under 5 feet and about 100 lbs. normally. So twins is a little scary in itself. I'm at 7 weeks and have already gained 4 lbs. :? Not sure if that is too much already but I'm sure the doctor will tell me if they think so.

Our due date is May 9, but I suspect it will be a couple weeks earlier with twins anyway. We have our first OB "get acquainted" appointment tommorrow morning. No scan or anything, just meeting the doctors and having an opportunity to ask some questions.

Alicia:

My Mother In Law is pretty tiny (5'4", 112 lbs) and delivered over 14 lbs of baby full term. Talk to your ob when you have your appointment and they'll let you know what to expect. Though I think it is good info to have your husbands birth weight and your birth weight as my OB says they are good indicators of what is to come with your little ones!

4 lbs is not a big deal at all! In fact, I think the ob starts ticking off your weight from your first appointment rather than what you were to start with.....so eat everything you can between now and the appt, so you'll have some leeway ha ha!

I gained over 60 lbs with my first child  I'm trying not to repeat that fiasco....my treadmill had a lot of activity the first 6 mos after giving birth. I refused to buy different clothing than what was in my closet so I was stuck wearing yucky stuff until I could get back into everything. Nursing helped so much! It's a major calorie burner. I was reading a post of a woman who just had twins on this board and she's only about 6 weeks after giving birth ( I think) and she said she was thinner than she'd been in the last 5 years! Now that sounds nice!

I think I'm up about 8 lbs in 11 weeks, not to mention the 5 from stimming and not being able to exercise. I'm going to try not to dwell on it, and still get on the treadmill 3-4 times per week.

Good luck at your appointment!

Paige
