Post by Rach T »

Hiya Tee

Thanks for your message - my hubs problems are a low count and poor motility, but nature has also added insult to injury cos he has an 85% sperm antibody count ie this makes all his sperm clump together so there's no-way his swimmers will ever penetrate my eggs.(Still no flippin reason as to why none of our eggs fertilised though!!!)

I just wish that one our eggies had fertilised - that would have given me something to cling onto, but the fact that nothing happened and no-one can tell us why, is just so devastating.

But anyway - enough about being down - we're now super positive. I'm glad you wrote actually, cos I was wanting to ask what supplements your hub was taking cos that made a huge difference to his count didn't it? I'm so sorry that things still didn't work out - are you up for another go?

Any other advice on dietary changes? We're knocking caffeine on the head and don't drink much in the way of alcohol. Couldn't do the strict thing that you did but any advice would be greatfully received - if we're gonna give this one last go with hubs's blokes I want to make sure we've done everything we can.

Where do I get the supplements from - will a normal health shop stock them?

Bye for now and take care

lots a love

Rach

Dear Rach, and anyone else interested:
This is a list of the supplements Foresight recommend. I get all mine at a local Health Food Shop, but they're also all in Holland and Barratt I think. Good for you for cutting out caffeine and alcohol. That's the basic, but if you want to go one step further, try buying as much organic food as you can. I think it's also quite important to be your ideal weight. I'm not quite as strict on this diet as before (for obvious reasons), but it does seem to have helped a lot with my endometriosis so I'm going to try to get back to it as much as possible. I don't eat a lot of wheat, and avoid dairy as much as I can. Also sugar and processed foods are bad. Of course. Find me a diet that says booze and fags and chocolate are ideal for conception.
I'm glad you're doing OK. I'm OK too, trying not to think about it most of the time, I'm sure that's not healthy, but a bit of repression has got to be better than wallowing in it all the time. We're going to be on go number three in October/November, depending on where the bloody hell my period has got to. To think I used to be so regular.
Keep in touch,
Lots of love Tee xxx

NUTRIENT: YOU: YOUR PARTNER:
Folic acid 400mcg -
Zinc 30mg 30mg
Selenium 100mcg 100mcg
Linseed oil 1000mg 1000mg
or GLA (OMEGA 6) 150mg 150mg
and EPA (OMEGA3) 300mg 300mg
Vit B6 up to 50mg up to 50mg
Vit B12 up to 50mg up to 50mg
Vit E 300-400iu 300-400iu
Vit C 1000mg 1000mg
Vit A up to 500iu -
(source should be beta-carotene,
not retinal)
Manganese 5mg 5mg
Iron if needed -
L-arginine - 1000mg
L-carnitine - 100mg
Hiya Tee

Thanks for your note - went to the clinic today and have got the go ahead for another go. They agree with us and think that it is too soon to be thinking about using donor sperm so we're forgeting that this past month has ever happened and are due to start again once my October period arrives, so we could be going about the same time!!

I want hubs to start taking the supplements but the clinic has said that we don't need to be taking anything, especially as we eat a good balanced diet - hubs is worried that anything that he may take may have a detrimental effect - hmmmm, don't think that's gonna happen somehow!!

Good luck for the next couple of months - we're just enjoying being almost normal for the time being and have weekends away booked and things like that just to have things to look forwards to!!

Talk soon

Take Care

Rachel xxxx

Hi Rach,
Sorry about the jumbled up list, it wasn't like that when I copied it honestly.
I think your hubs is right, best thing to do is eat a good diet and try and be as chilled out as poss. Lots of treats and weekends away has got to be better than a handful of pills any day of the week. After all, I'm not exactly on my way to Mothercare myself am I?
I'm sticking with a modified, (less loony) version cos it does make me feel better.
Anyway, glad you're OK, and looking forward (not) to holding hands with you in October!
Where are you planning your romantic mini-breaks for?
LOve Tee xxx
