Hi all! I just found this forum & am so happy about it! I'm 32 / dh 33 - we have 1 daughter 17 months old. I had 1 miscarriage prior to her birth & 2 in the past 4 months. Scheduled an IVF consultation but don't know if it can help with women with recurrent m/c's? Any input or success stories?? I'd love to hear from you!
good luck to all! Melanie
p.s. I posted this on IVF board yesterday & got 2 replies within hours. It made me feel so wonderful - the first time I haven't felt all alone in this infertility mess! Thank you so much!

Hi Melanie, welcome to the board - sorry to hear about your losses - I hope you find it as big a support as I have over the last year.
I have lost 4 pregnancies in the last 20 months - 2 ectopic and 2 miscarriages. I'm afraid I can't really answer your questions, but when I had lost 3 pregnancies we had some tests (me and DH - what exactly they were for I can't remember - they actually came back all clear so we are none the wiser - they say this is usually the case).
Have you had any tests done yet? You shouldn't have to go down the IVF route to get some investigations done - I think most GPs/hospitals do this after 3 losses.
I think when you have your first consultation they should be able to let you know if they think they can help - but this is a costly business and maybe you need to be referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic rather than an ACU.
I'm happy to help in any way I can - so if you have any questions - fire away.
good luck
Dolly

Hi Dolly, thank you so much for your reply - it means so much to me. I am sorry to hear of your losses as well. We had a whole round of fertility testing done prior to our dd's birth - with all good results. We are now going for some sort of chromosome testing but I don't have much hope its going to give us any answers.
I do, however, have some info on a procedure called PGD - this is when they test the embryos for genetic viability before they put them inside of you. In my clinic they perform this for women with a history of recurrent m/c or failed IVF cycles. This procedure is new but has shown some great success in reducing m/c rates. Maybe this can help us.
Are you planning on trying another IVF cycle? I can't imagine how hard it is but I guess I'm about to find out, huh?
Thanks again for your reply & the best of luck to you? melanie
