Hi Everyone

I'm back from my 3 weeks IVF+ICSI in Italy. It's been an experience that's for sure, and not one I'd be keen to repeat. I had EC on Wed 15th, as I had 10 follies altogether. They knocked me out completely for it, and I was really sick when I came round. I had such a painful tummy for the next couple of days. I was really shocked when they wanted to do ET on the Friday as 2 days didn't seem enough time for the fertilised eggs to develop. They only got 4 eggs, and they don't do Frosties in Italy so they put 3 back in on the Friday. This was the bit that I thought would be a doddle, but I was completely unprepared for how painful it would be. Apart from not being able to ask what the hell they were doing (they wouldn't let DH in to translate for me) they had told DH before they took me through that yes we could see them before they put them in, and I was just being taken away to be 'prepared'. As it turned out, they didn't show me the 'embies' (not sure what to call them), but DH got to see one of them which was 4 cells after 2 days. They didn't show him the others, or even explain why not. They also put them back in whilst torturing me, and I didn't even know until they let DH in to see me for a minute before tilting me backwards and leaving me on my own in the theatre for 20 minutes before taking me back to my room. I don't know what the hell they were doing to me, but it felt like my insides were being ripped out. I presume they were cleaning me out or something, and then cranking the neck of my womb open but the pain was indescribable. I've had a well bloated tummy since then, but I'm feeling nothing at the moment. I'm using progesterone cream for 2 weeks, and I've got to do two more injections (another sore subject) on the 26th and 28th and then test on the 30th. I'm convinced it hasn't worked, as I keep thinking I should feel different. My Dr in Italy told me to have a blood test on the 30th (no more info than that), but I've just rang my Dr's and they want more details. Can anyone help with what I should be asking, as I've lost faith in Dr's at the moment (UK and Italy!). You've probably guessed I'm feeling a bit low at the moment, and can't wait for the 2ww to end. Are there any more updates on the list below?

Jools,

I'm so sorry that you had to go through all that pain and confusion. ET really should not have to be painful. But on the bright side, your embies are in there now and nothing can stop them from trying to take hold!

One thing that you may be missing, though, is monitoring for OHSS. You should read up on the symptoms so that you can get help, if needed. If you get it and it is left untreated, it can be life threatening. You are more likely to get it if you get pregnant, too, so please take care of yourself. Hoping for the best result for you!

Alicia is right Jools, be carefull of overstimulating now!
And it is strange... so much pain you had to endure... specially with transferring them back... you should not be in pain!!

3 embies! I have been told that your chances of being pregnant are almost 50% now!!!

Here (i live in Holland) I have never seen our embryo's, never!

And I think it is strang that we get our embies back after 4 days! Such a long time....

By the way, my testingday is 30st September too.

Only one little update as far as im aware i think im not sure what kappys results were i think neg but i cant be sure im having twins so i gave myself another little smiley.

As alicia said jools ET should not be painful at all it sounds as if they do lots of things different over there than here i had 27 follies on day of EC all i had was local anesthetic which is what i wanted. it wasnt a pleasant procedure fear was my main thing but once they got going i was fine.

Also as alicia said your embies are in there now and thats the main thing keep drinking lots of water and i wish you lots and lots of luck
love Ang xx

p.s Alicia i got your message thankyou hunny think im about 1 week behind you as im 7 weeks today altho i think my clinic counts it from day of ET and im not im counting from EC hehe

lots of love to all Ang xx

Hi Everyone

As I'm still on a high, I thought I'd add my little smilie to the board!

Question: I went to see my Dr yesterday to ask if I could have blood tests to check my hcg levels, and they won't do it. As I had my IVF abroad and it's not available on NHS in our area they won't do any related tests either! I asked about doing it privately and they told me to ring my local hospital. I did that, but they won't do it without a referal letter and then I'd have to wait for an appt which would take goodness knows how long. My IVF Dr in Italy wants to keep an eye on my levels, and I don't know what to do now. Any ideas? My Dr also won't scan me at 6 weeks, and says I'll have to wait for the normal 10-12 week appt like anyone else. Talk about pi**ing on my fireworks!

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing fine. I just had my first ultrasound yesterday and we saw two little ones. I was so excited, had my fingers crossed the entire time that It would be two. I have got a long road ahead of me, I am just going to try and enjoy if except for the 24/7 morning sickness (ugh). Lots of luck to all....
