Hi everybody

I am feeling really angry at the moment. Two weeks ago we got prices for the meds from the chemist and from our hospital. 3 of the 4 items were cheaper through the chemist and Menopur was cheaper through the hospital.

Anyway, we went to get them on Sunday. My husband had spoken to our clinic and explained the prices and they said it would be no problem to split the prescription. Anyway, after 90 minutes wasted in the chemist hubby said he will call at the clinic and get a second prescription for the menopur because the chemist wouldn't let us have the original prescription back. They also reconfirmed all the prices.

Yesterday my husband went to the hospital got all the prescription sorted and we went back to the chemist last night to buy the meds. Now they decide that they has only put 'trade' prices and not included a 50% markup and VAT and that the original pharmacist thought I was trade. This is total crap because he had sent me to my GP to see if he would prescribe them through the NHS because it was all so expensive. In total they wanted an extra £122.60 (these are the 3 cheaper items)

Then to make a bad situation worse while they were waiting for the original pharmacist to telephone, the 3 assistants serving in the shop (we have been in 3 times about the IVF drugs and they all knew we are having IVF) were having a nice conversation about women who decide to leave having children until in their 30's and are not bothered about the consequences. Then another one said she has a child in high school and she is only 24. The older one said that she was the oldest on the ward when she had her baby at 30 and the girl in the next bed to her had said she could be her grandmother because she was only 14. (so in their eyes it is better to become a parent at 14 than 30!)

I can't believe how insensitive they were in front of us. Even my husband got upset and he is really easy going. But instead of saying something we kept quiet and then argued the rest of the night because we were so upset.

Anyway, my husband bought all the meds at the hospital today and we will not be going back to the chemist which I have used since I was 7 years old.

Sorry for the moan I really had to get it off my chest though.

Good luck to everybody

what a load of insensitive bitches!! this has made me really angry!

I think it would make you feel a lot better if you found out who owns the chemist and write to them about these women. Then just don't go in again. if you got their names, even better as you can name them in the letter and say how unprofessional they are and how you will be advising your friends and neighbours to go elsewhere in future.

IVF is hard enough without having to put up with this kind of behaviour.

Good luck to you, hope you manage to calm down.

Hi Girls..

Debra - Hope you are doing ok? I know you wont be posting much but just wanted you to know we're all here whenever you do.. x

Jackie - That is so rude! What is wrong with some people? That has made me angry! I agree with Natalie - you should write to them, I think they are definately in the wrong jobs!

Loopy - Great to hear from you and good one on the exercise buzz..! Hope you are doing ok??

Jill - Sorry I can't help you, but I'm sure they are confident it will all be fine because they have asked you to carry on down regging and they wouldn't have done that if it was going to affect the cycle? Sure someone will know more than me - hope you are ok..

Picking up my meds tomorrow, feel like it's not far off now! How does everyone find the sniffing for down regging?? I had an injection last time and that's the only bit I haven't gone through.. I've heard there are more side effects with the syranel spray??

Hope everyone's doing ok and looking forward to getting on the rollercoaster in a week or so!

Hi Kel,
Good to hear from you and thanks for the reply. I have had very little in the way of side affects on the nasal spray. I have had a couple of hot flushes, slight panic attack like feelings at times but mood wise not bad at all. Hope it goes well for you take care love Jill x

Hi Jackie,
I really agree with Kel you must be so angry and rightly so. As if all this is not bad enough we have to put up with ignorant stupid comments. Here is one I had recently "so no sprogs yet?" "no not yet" "why not presumably your having sex aren't you?".
I could have happily smacked the bloke who said that.
I really think a letter to the chemist would be in order and may make you feel a little better. Take care Jackie love Jill x

Hi everybody

Can't believe how quiet it is on here.

Well today we finally got some good news. My new bloodpressure tablets have steadied my bloodpressure enough for us to get the go-ahead for ivf this month. So I start injecting bursulin day 2, I stopped the norethesterone yesterday so it should be Wednesday or Thursday -YES!!!!

My husband rang up today to let me know he had booked us a holiday leaving on Saturday to Majorca. He said I had a rough time last cycle and he wanted to keep me relaxed this time. He said we are going to spend the whole week forgetting about everything. He even sorted a letter from the clinic so I can travel on the plane with my injections.

Good luck to everyone.

Hi Girls

I posted a while back on this thread and have just found out this afternoon that I start sniffing tomorrow........so I am joining you!!

Very mixed feelings as this will be my sixth treatment....although at a different clinic..........but I guess you never know until you try!!

I have been diagnosed with high NK cells and Low Progesterone so i will be taking Dextemethesone and IVIG infusions this time as well as injecting Gestone instead of pessaries after et........so at least they are trying something else!

Debra - sorry to hear your bad news..........I think I cycled with you earlier in the year.....look after yourself and DH

Jackie - have a fab holiday!

I will try to keep up with everyone but its a damn busy thread!!

Good luck girls

Hi everyone,

Just back from my vacation (hols) and trying to catch up with everyone. First thing I checked was to see your result Debra. I am so sorry to hear this, I was really hoping for good news. My heart goes out to you.

Pam, don't worry about being behind schedule with down-regg. I expereineced the same thing and had to re-schedule my ER and ET date . It didn't make any difference in my treatment except for this though I had an negative result. I had a good number of follies and eggs regardless. I should say.

Quick question guys..I had started this thread, but I'm wondering if I should be in t he OCt. thread!! as most of my treatment except for down -regg takes place in October (I will test provided everthing stays on track on Nov. 1st). Any thoughts??

Hi Girls!

Yes it is fairly quiet on here, but it will all start happening soon! I start my down regging on Monday then you wont be able to get rid of me!!
Elizabeth - I think we should stick with this thread now! It sounds like I might be on track with your dates roughly? - d/r 20th sept, stimms 6/10 EC planned all being well for 18/10.. What about you?
JenF - Good luck with your sniffing today!! Great that your clinic have changed things for you - I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Jackie - Great news it's all going ahead for you, and great you will start cycling while getting a tan and being pampered!! I like it!
Alison - Follies are sounding great - how did your scan go Friday?
Jill - Thanks for letting me know about the nasal spray, hoping it will go ok! How are you getting on??

I picked up my meds last week and I requested a different down reg this time, and discovered am going to be on different stimms too! Last time I had menopur, this time those Gonal-F pens - is anyone else using them? I thought I was going to be an expert this time with the auto-injector so was a bit freaked to see that I had to see the needle this time!! But whatever it takes HEY! On a health buzz this week ready for Monday! What vitamins is everyone taking?

Good Luck Girls!

Hi Everyone,
I feel like I've just found a new big gang of friends who all know exactly how I feel, it's great. I am now 32 days into my Egg Donor IVF Cycle. I have had two scans, my womb lining is 10mm and should be 3mm. They sent me away to do an extra week on suprecur nasal spray which didn't work then another 8 days on the spray plus norethisterone tablets to make me have a second period. I am on my last tablet tomorrow and really want a period as soon as possible (A strange thing to want after 6 years of TTC!!!). I am getting quite worried about all this as I am so far behind in my treatment. As people have said this is not a big problem in itself but I have my Egg Donor and another recipient who are potentially waiting for me to be ready. I am so scared that after all this they will cancel my Cycle. Is anyone Cycling at the moment or in the past who have used an Egg Donor?
I would really appreciate any advice/comments.
Take care everyone love Jill x

Sally - sorry to hear yout tmt has been delayed. Not sure when i'm starting.

my dh had a biopsy yesterday under general and luckily they found some sperm. they have to try freezing and defrosting it first to make sure it'll be usable so fingers crossed. he is a bit groggy but not too sore. I am v. proud of him as he's been thru more than most partners have to without a word of complaint and really proved his commitment to this.

I see my consultant on Mon and hope to start asap but AF due sunday so may have missed my chance for Sep. Really unsure as to when i start tho cos not sniffing - just 2 wks injecting.

elizabeth - i agree we should keep this thread going for the mo.

fingers crossed for everyone right now!!

love

Sorry, what I meant was, should I be jumping to the Oct/Nov thread? Of course this thread stays put! Anyway, I'm alll confused since my holiday because I meant to say that I have embryo transfer on the first of nov. so that is why I wondered if I should be on another thread. But here I am so I'll stay, unless anyone thinks otherwise? just to warn you though that I will be pretty behind everyone since I don't test until mid-November!

Hello Everyone,
I spoke to my nurse today as I have got myself in such a panic over my down regging not working (I will be 3 weeks behind what I should be). She said it shouldn't be a problem. I am doing Egg Donor IVF, the other recipient has not started on the final leg of drugs either though she is ready to go now, and we have to start them on the same day. I am now praying for my AF (I have been put on extra drugs to make me have another one) so as my womb lining will thin down from 10mm to 3mm. What an alien thing to be praying for AF to arrive!!! I still feel pretty churned up though I am dreading them cancelling my Cycle before ET.
I hope you are all doing ok take care love Jill xx
