Hi everyone

It's good to see that you're all getting on well... I have been feeling really rough with morning sickness the last while as well.. I have the same problem of raging hunger... and then yucky nausea afterwards... you feel like you can't really win! I wake up in the mornings hoping that today will be better...

I will be twelve weeks next week and having our next scan and nuchal fold test. The doctor didn't want to do an amnio as he thought we'd been through enough with ivf and with twins too- and that the nuchal fold test would be quite a good indicator. What do you guys think?

I've been busy buying loads of maternity clothes... I think I might be obsessed!! I think I am beginning to get a little bump (magnifying glass required for other people) but I am proud of it nonetheless!

Hope that your little bumps are doing well... look forward to hearing your news.

Tanya,

That is great that your doctor has the nuchal fold test. It does not pose a risk of miscarriage as the amino does. We talked to our doctor about it yesterday. Unfortunately, in the U.S. it is self funded and not covered by insurance. It is quite expensive too - $900 or so for a single baby, so possibly double? But if we do test we definately will do that.

I'm actually thinking of not testing even though I am 38 and they are twins. Am I crazy?

Hi Alicia

I know what you mean... our doctor said that he didn't want to do the amnio for two reasons... a. because we're having twins and the risk and b. because we'd already been through enough with ivf to get to this position. Of course it's down to personal choice and opinion, but I know what you mean and no-one would judge you whatever your decision.

We found out some good news today- our gynae is apparently one of the best in the world for twins... so I feel in very good hands at the moment. At least this reassures us in this completely new world!

How are you feeling now? Do you have any sickness or tiredness?

Look forward to hearing how you're getting on.

Take care of your little bumps!

Hi

We had our 12 week scan today and had a vanishing twin, so are now only expecting one child on 15th April 2005.

Our other baby is doing very well and was waving at us... it has been quite an emotional day today.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

HI Tanya
We've not really spoken before- but just wanted to say how sorry I am that one of your twins didnt make it......but.....a more massive congratulations on your little fighter thats there, healthy and waving at you :) I really know how tough it is waiting for the 12 week scan.

I'm sure it must be very emotional for you at the moment - but it won't be long before you are back to just being full on excited about your forthcoming arrival!

All the best

Tanya,

I was so sad to hear that you have lost a twin. I didn't realize that could happen so late.

But I'm thrilled to hear that your baby has made it healthy to 12 weeks. You must be so happy to have the first trimester nearly over. It is so scary going through early pregnancy after IVF.

Thinking of you,

Tanya:

Sorry to hear about your loss. I've read a lot about vanishing twins and it's so much more common than anyone knows. In fact, the study I read said that they really don't know the numbers because by the time people do the ultra sound or detect the heart beat....one could already be gone and no one would have ever known it. With IVF we're a lot closer to everything in the beginning.

The good news is...you have a healthy baby who has made it through the first Trimester! Congratulations! We're both due on April 15th I think. So we're going through everything at the same time. I'm starting to get uncomfortable at night. But thank goodness my sinuses are ok so far...has anyone mentioned that to everyone? That the last trimester you can't breath out of your nose at night and have to sleep with your mouth open so your tongue feels like sandpaper in the am? It's a lot of fun.

Thanks for your kind words, ladies.

I am now feeling a lot more positive about things.... and I have to be strong for our little miracle!! We have had bad news since... DH has salmonella... so I have to be really careful at home now too... but at least they've found it and are treating it now. It never rains, eh!

Paige, I have also been feeling a bit uncomfortable at night time... it doesn't help when you need to get up every night about 10 times to go to the loo.

How's everyone's morning sickness coming along? Mine feels like it's getting better but then gets worse again. I pray every morning that it will get better.

Thinking about how you're all getting on with your little bumps.
Take care of yourselves.

Ok...so I had my first "When are you due" question from someone who didn't know I was pregnant. So my bump is starting to tell all now! I'm feeling pretty good, but I swear that 3pm is the witching hour. I could nap every day at 3pm. Even if it's just 45 minutes it seems to do the trick.
Advise for all of you Moms-to-be....we are babysitting one of my daughter's friend's rabbits. It is in a cage, but I swear it poops more than it eats. I'm cleaning the cage out every day and trying not to barf all over it. That is one pet we definately will not be getting!
How is everyone feeling? Has everyone done maternity shopping? May I mention that I grew out of a lot of my maternity clothes that last month of pregnancy last time  ! I was down to sweats and my husbands shirts!
Hope everyone is doing great.

Ooooh, I'm not sure I could clean out a poopy cage at the moment.... although crossed fingers, touch wood etc... I think my morning sickness is getting better!!! No waves of nausea at all today!! But the tiredness is still dreadful!

That's fantastic that you're showing and that people are asking whether you're pregnant. We spend about an hour every day looking at my stomach, to see if there is anything there yet... I'm not sure if it's wishful thinking, but my trousers are much tighter already... and I feel really great when I put on my maternity trousers (which are far too long and need to be shortened!! )

I have a new 'hobby' of buying maternity bundles on ebay... I've managed to pick up ALOT of really good stuff, so would really recommend it ... but I have to go and pick it up in England in a couple of weeks time... let's hope that I don't have a sudden bump spurt in the meantime!!

Has anyone had any problems with their skin? I feel like a teenager again.... zits all over the place!!

Does anyone know whether 12 weeks is too early to get trapped nerves? I had the most excruciating pain in my groin yesterday which I could only liken to either a pulled muscle (unlikely considering how careful I am being right now) or a pinched nerve.

Looking forward to hearing from you... have to study for my exam in two weeks (will I be glad when that's over!!)

Hi everyone,

I am only 9 weeks tommorrow. So far, not feeling sick or even particularly tired, but every scan has shown the twins doing well. I guess everyone is different?

I have gained 10 lbs. so I 'm right on track with Dr. Luke's twin book weight gain recommendations. I have to say it has been hard eating so much food. Some days it really is not even fun. I cannot button most of my pants. I'm going to go for a larger size, since I'm still too small for maternity clothes. This has not stopped me from buying an awesome pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans on Ebay!

Paige - how exciting that you are showing. I can't wait for this to happen, as I don't think DH will believe any of this is real until I start to look different.

I'm glad everyone is doing great!

Complexion! Oh my gosh, mine was better than this when I was a teenager. Seriously, it's like I'm 13 yrs old. Gross.

Hi Girls
Good to catch up with everyones postings.
Tanya sorry to hear about the loss of a twin but good news you have a healthy baby in there.

I'm also due on Apr 15th . We had the 12 wk scan and all is OK. I had a bleed at 7 weeks and have been on settee rest ever since and must continue for another 2 weeks until the bleeding site has dissolved.

My tum is huge and I really bloat up at night. I don't know if that's because I'm not getting any excercise or its trapped wind!!!
My face is like an oil slick and I await for the time when I am supposed to blossom!
Anyway it's a relief to have got to 12 weeks with all the traumas of bleeding and OHSS so far. Fingers crossed. Trying to keep positive and optimistic
take care everyone
