I'm now on day 6 of my 2ww and I have been drinking plenty - water, fruit teas and orange juice but not much milk. I only have it with my cereal. How much are you supposed to drink? My clinic did not mention anything about diet afterwards and I've just used common sense - like no alcohol and no caffeine which I have been off for ages.
What have others been told? I would appreciate some advice as I'm worried that I have not been drinking enough milk.
What a godsend this website is.

Thanks

Barb.
Hi Barb,
I think the info on milk is a lite a day, I mannage to have about three big glasses full plus what is in hot drinks. I have started havig hot milk at night before bed which is nice instead of tea or coffee. I hope this helps.

Mandy.xxxxxxxxx
Hi Barbs,

Prior to my 2ww I was told to drink a litre of milk a day then during my 2ww they reduced it to a pint a day. I told my nurse that I didn't like milk very much and was glad that they reduced it so she said that if I wanted to I could substitute it with lean meat, cooked eggs, nuts, etc... Basically anything that is high in protein. So if you've been eating any high protein foods you should be ok. Other than that I was just told to carry on drinking 3 - 4 litres of water a day.

I hope this helps and good luck.

Love Maggie.xx
Thanks Mandy and Maggie for your advice. I've gone out and bought some milk shake syrup and some Horlicks as I can't drink milk straight. I have been making sure I am eating well - so I think I am OK.
All these little things to worry about - as if we haven't got enough on our minds.
Hope you are both OK.
I've read three books already and who knows how many magazines.
Still - if we get a positive result at the end of it, it will be all worthwhile.

Love to everyone.

Barbs.
Just to add my bit, when I asked my clinic they said that the milk thing was just a myth, and will make no difference whatsoever. And the water thing is really for women at risk of OHSS.
I know how you feel though, cos doing anything is better than doing nothing.
Good luck to you all,
Tee xx
Hi, I'm another new girl on 2ww. My ET was a week ago today at the Lister Hospital in London. This is my 2nd go at IVF.
I'm a bit worried though. I've been getting alot of stomach aches and I wondered if anyone else had been getting any. I woke up this morning, thought I was having a period pain and burst into tears!
I was never told to drink any extra milk, juice, water etc, just to put my torpedos up every night an "carry on as normal" - yeah right!
Good luck to everyone.

Mandi
Hi Mandi,
I am Mandy also and in the same boat as u, has ET last Friday, this is our 2nd go at ICSI so fingers crossed for us both this time.
Carrying on a normal is so hard.

I have had lower abdo pain, like a dull ache all the time and am madly knicker checking everytime I go to the Loo- the roler coster of emotions is really crazy but it does help to "Talk" to people in the same position.

Good Luck and keep loging on for moral support.

Mandy.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi Mandy and Mandi

I also had ET last Friday and I am getting anxious, as I keep thinking that I am getting period pains. I was told to expect some abdominal pain, but it doesn't stop me feeling that everything will soon be over. If I am sensible, I would realise that it is too early to get period pains - I think!!

Also, I have never heard that milk or water can help, but if it makes someone feel better, then it can't do any harm.

How many eggs and at what stage did you both get??

Nice to talk to you

Kate

Hello Barbs,

Just to let you into the Milk and Water secret.

The reason this is suggested is to increase your blood supply/quality in the uterus, therefore to help when the embryos are embedding, it is something that has been tested, and it is worth trying, if you can't drink milk then a calcium substitute is ok, however increase the 3 litres of water to 4, my clinic have told me not to drink the water with calcium made by Danone as this is not a good substitute and can effect your kidneys.

When you get to this stage anything is worth a try, and it worked for me last time, so it must be ok.

Best Wishes

Sandra E
