Anyone experienced pain in egg collection?

Post by jayne »

:? Can anyone help me please, on 28/9/04 I had my egg collection (2nd attempt of ICSI) and it felt like torture & the pain is still haunting me. They gave me my drugs and the 1st time I had it done I dont remember anything until coming round back on the ward, but this time I seem to remember been in absolute agony, not been able to move but moaning & groaning & crying, I could even hear them telling me I was doing really well. My husband could hear me whilst sitting in the ward & said that my face was covered in tears when I returned. I just wondered if this is a normal occurance.
Also, whilst Im here, ever since 30/9/04 when I had my embreyo transfer Ive been experiencing what I would call symptoms of PMT (twinges in the stomach, bloated belly, & a bit touchy) has anyone else felt like this afterwards :?:
Had one failed cycle of icsi mar 04, will be having another fresh cycle sept 04. I have damaged tubes and my husband has anti bodies on his sperm (we are both broken) Been trying without any success for 7 long years. Both results negative

Hi Jayne

Sorry to hear you had such a rough time, to be honest I wasn't sedated when I had EC and I can still remember them bursting away at my folicles and the pain it was but people say they do get put under but I didn't, let's just hope it will all be worth it, keeping everything crossed for you.

Love

Hi Jayne

I really feel for you. I was knocked out completely for EC, but when I came round I felt really rough even 2 days later when they did the ET. This for me was the most traumatic bit, as it was agony. After the usual cranking open, they cleaned me out and then whatever they did next (all done in Italy so I couldn't ask what they were doing), I had one woman pressing all her weight on my stomach and it felt like they were ripping my insides out. This was on the 17th September, and I had a really bloated stomach for at least 2 weeks afterwards. I've had AF like cramps ever since EC as well, which I'm still getting although to a lesser degree and I had a BFP last Wednesday! Don't lose heart, there's still loads of hope. The trauma of the pain will fade though. I didn't stop crying for about 2 days afterwards because I felt so violated, but I'm OK about it now. Just hang in there.

Best of luck on your 2ww. This alone will drive you nuts!

Hi Jayne,

I know what you went through.
I had EC in Holland and I suffered the same experience as you.
I was not put out but given first an injection on my bum and then a pill to take. I had to let the drugs work for 30 minutes before the EC. I was in a lot of pain too and was crying alot which was strange for me!
The nurse told me I was crying because that was the side effect of the drugs. (What drugs never did me any good).
They only managed to get 3 folicles from me.
I was thinking at the time of EC surely labour is 50x as bad as this!!!!
After EC I was sore for about 2 days.

Cheers,
San2

Hi Jayne - just quick note as I am supposed to be getting an early night. I had my embryo transfer on the same date as you and am experiencing all of the same PMT like symptons and some bleeding too (others say that can happen). I'm just hoping these are positive signs. In addition I keep imaging I feel queasy and wonder if it is morning sickness a) It's most likely too early and b) I used to think I had morning sickness most months when we were TTC - I think it is wishful thinking.

Hang in there ... not long now!
