Janem:

Sorry you've been having a lot of stress with the bleeding and everything. I'm sure with twins your body has a lot going on right now. Fingers and toes are crossed for you...the good news is you made it to 12 WEEKS! That's awesome.
I too an MUCH bigger in the evening that in the morning. I have no idea why that happens. But there are definately some clothes that I can get on in the am and have to get rid of in the pm.

Janem and Paige,

Thank you so much! I could not figure out why my regular clothes fit in the morning, and by mid afternoon I need maternity clothes. How strange it is? Gravity? Anyway I finally got to the maternity store and got a nice fall/winter collection. I was surprised that it already fits me at 9 weeks. I feel like an enormous cow. I have the oil slick face, too. Charming.

Janem,

So nice to hear from you. I'm glad all is going well now. I also had bleeding, only mine seemed to stop at about 7 weeks. Fingers crossed for us both that it doesn't happen again - it is so disturbing!

Hi Ladies!

How is everyone doing? I am officially out of control buying maternity clothes. I've bought a lot, but every time I go to my closet, I'm like yuck I don't have anything to wear. Also....here is a warning, last time I was pregnant my feet grew 1/2 a size up! And they never went back down. My sister was quite elated to receive a garbage bag full of shoes that don't fit me anymore. She was elated...I was weeping :) Actually it should have been dh that was weeping.

I'm not experiencing any morning sickness anymore. I'll be 14 weeks on Thursday..and poof it just went away last week. The only new thing that has been going on is that my very lower back (on the left side of my tailbone) has been bothering me. I don't know how I feel about going to the chiropractor, so I bought a yoga and pilates tape hoping to stretch it out and strengthen the ligaments around my spine. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone

Hope you and your bumps are all well.
I bought a breast-feeding cushion at the weekend, so help me sleep at night... and boy, does it work!! Get yourselves out there and buy one!! The only problem is trying to climb over it at night to go to the loo!! Paige, I think it has also helped with the backache twinges I was getting... if you sleep on your side with one leg on top of the cushion, it straightens your spine and puts less pressure on it- at least that's what it claims to do!

My clothes don't fit any more  and I have a definite bump... but I'm DESPERATE for someone to ask me when the baby's due!! It hasn't happened yet  As for weight... I think that everything has moved around... my boobs are much bigger... my waist is non-existent, but my legs now actually look quite slender!! So far I've only put on about 1kg.

I think (touch wood) the morning sickness has finally left me... I don't feel so tired anymore either - yippee! But I am absolutely STARVING most of the time... I think I'll have myself a little buddha when 'he/she' comes out!!

I am having problems with very low blood pressure... which I know is better than high blood pressure, but it's giving me really bad headaches and I don't want to take anything for it... any recommendations?

And secondly (quite embarrassing) I am having difficulties going to the loo... but don't want to drink prune juice... eugh!! Anyone any recommendations here?

Keep in touch!!

Hi Angela and welcome!!

Congratulations on your two little miracles!! I keep talking to my little one and calling 'him' my little miracle.

I can't believe how fast it all seems to be going... it only seems like yesterday, that we were talking about going for our first IVF meeting, and now I'm almost 14 weeks!! I am also soooo looking forward to going shopping for stuff. I have loads of magazines... we've been looking a prams (discussing the merits of 3 wheels and 4 wheels!!)- I've been looking at nursery furniture too... and as for clothes... they're all sooooo cute!!!

We're going to Holland for a long weekend in November where they sell the BEST baby products (shampoo, talc etc).... it smells sooooo good... I think I will probably end up spending a small fortune on just that!

Keep in touch and let me know how you're getting on.

Angela,

Finally you have joined us over here! We've been waiting for you. :) So glad everything is going well for you. I know what you mean about being impatient for the first trimester to end. I want to tell everyone about it, but am feeling a little wary these days. I'm 10 weeks.

Interesting what you said about testing. I also don't want any tests, but at my age (38) it seems maybe I should have something. Certainly not amnio, unless they think there is a problem. But I'm going to have the nuchal translucency test, I think. It is basically an advanced ultrasound, so it can't hurt the babies. Unfortunately, it costs $1000, which I'm not sure my insurance will cover. But really, anything to avoid amnio at this point.

Tanya,

I'm glad you are well. I can't wait until I look pregnant. Now I just look a little fatter. My clothing doesn't fit, so I have to wear maternity jeans or skirts, but the tops are okay so far. I want big boobs too!!! Maybe they were just so small to begin with that it is hardly noticeable

Ok..let's talk about big boobs! Seriously I would be showing a lot more if my boobs didn't grow so much...they are overshadowing my bump! They went from C to E. I actually feel bad for women who have naturally very large breasts because they are just too much and don't fit into a lot. I caught a cold from my 4 yr old and am not sleeping much at night because of the sinus issues this cold has brought on. It's miserable. I know I can take Sudafed..but can I take Nyquil? For some reason I think I remember that I can.

I know that the August buddies have had a lot of body image talks...here is mine. We're going to Aruba in November for holiday and I went to try on maternity bathing suits last weekend and was all teary in the dressing room! I think I'm pregnant everywhere! I ended up buying one that enhances my large growing chest...hoping that no one will look anywhere else ha ha! I also bought pregnancy Yoga and Pilates tapes! So I'll start doing those in addition to the treadmill. I swear my behind is pregnant!

Paige,

I would be thrilled to even get a C cup out of this thing, as I am usually more like an A. I'm going to Maui in January, so I'll have to look for a swimsuit as well. Scary. I'm actually not just pregnant but also getting fat. The book I have says it is required for twins to gain some body fat early on. It sounds fun, but really it is difficult to eat that much food and not really all that fun when you have to do it.

I'm going to Philly tommorrow to visit the in-laws and they don't know yet, so that should be fun breaking the news. I may be gone from here for about a week - we'll see if they are connected or not. Hope all goes well for us all while I'm gone. Maybe we can start a 2nd trimester thread in November.

Hi ladies.. its been a while... I'm glad to hear everyone is doing well! Tanya - I'm very sorry to hear about your loss- I can't even imagine going through that.

Everything here is going well.. the twins are growing quick. The morning sickness has been pretty bad which is why I haven't logged in lately... I just hope it gets better now that I'm in the second trimester. I haven't gained any weight which is bad since I'm having twins but I just can't keep much down. Has anyone else noticed that you can only eat about as half as much as you used to?

I must say without gaining weight I am still starting to fit into maternity pants. But I basically just feel fat instead of pregnant. Last night I woke up scratching my belly so I guess that means its growing!!

So other than the physical changes, how are you all doing emotionally? Are any of you scared of becoming a parent? I must say I a lot of fears but I know everything will be okay. It is just going to be a huge life change for all of us.

Take care ladies and pamper yourselves as much as possible!!

Hiya Gini

Alicia thankyou for the welcome hunny im sure your boobs will be massive by the time you get to around 20 weeks mine havent really grown that much well maybe a little i havent gone up a cup size im a c but i am feeling the need to buy some nice comfy bras.
i havent bought any maternity clothes yet think i will get shopping for them next week as i dont have much that fits me to well at the mo.

Gini i think im more excited than worried about having twins i do have an 8 year old daughter so i guess that makes it easier for me i know what to expect when it comes to the labour bit i am planning on giving birth the normal way no c section unless theres a good reason.
im already so so excited about meeting my 2 miracles and i know its going to go very quickly i dont think i will relax until i am holding them both in my arms i dont think any of us will.

as for the eating thing i know what you mean there im eating like a pig but only in small amounts my sense of taste and smell has totally gone things that i used to love now just smell awlful i dont ever really fancy anything to eat and if i do we usually dont have it in the freezer and by the time iv bought it i dont want it anymore hehehe its all fun and im loving every minute i feel like im one of (all of you being the others) the luckiest people alive.

i went out and bought celine diones new album yesterday called miracle its all about the joy a new born brings i just had to buy it as soon as i played it i was in tears tears of happiness of course.

think iv gone on enough now lots of love to you all

Don't start me on the tears... I was balling my eyes out at Coronation Street yesterday!! :? I guess that's a real sign of my hormones going CRAZEEEEE!!!

My boobs are also trying to jump out of my bras, so I've taken to wearing ultra support, squish them as small as possible sports bras!! I think that DH is actually quite enjoying them though!! Looking only, no touching!! They're still quite tender!

I feel itchy all over... including my knees in particular... and I'm sure there's no baby growing down there!! Still, am trying to religiously smear in the oil to prevent any more stretch marks!!

As for weight, I've put on about 1 kg since the beginning... and will be 14 weeks tomorrow. I feel like my legs and arms have got thinner and everything else is getting bigger (YIPPEE DIP!)- I'm flying to England tonight as I have an exam tomorrow (which I will no doubt fail because my motivation is soooo low... there is a much more important thing in my life now!!)... and my mum is really looking forward to spending the WHOLE weekend with her hand on my tummy to feel if she can feel any movement!

I felt the first little flutterings in my 11th week. I told a friend who laughed and said it was just wind... however, when we went for our ultrasound, he found the baby exactly where my flutterings were. Now I find it really reassuring to feel movements.... the little so-and-so was moving around CONSTANTLY on Sunday!

Alicia and Paige... you are SOOOO lucky, getting to go on a fabulous holiday... little green monsters here!! How long will the flights be for you?

Keep in touch, girls

P.S. Gini, I am ABSOLUTELY terrified of becoming a mum... but am SOOOO looking forward to it.....

HI Ladies:

Pixigini: Glad that you made it back to the boards, and so sorry that you morning sickness has been sooo miserable.

Angela: Welcome to this side! We've been all waiting for you to come over! There are so many over here having twins, I'm sure you'll all be a great support for each other.

Tanya: I swear I've been feeling fluttering for about 2 weeks. Only when I'm really really still and everything is pretty quiet. Like when I'm reading. I know from my first pregnancy that it is the baby! It's so weird when people or books tell you it couldn't possibly be the baby this early, but I guess we know our own bodies. It feels like fluttering...you're exactly right. I LOVE to feel it. The flight to Aruba should be 5 1/2 - 6 hours total with a stop over in Miami. We'll be going from Chicago to Miami and then Miami Aruba...which is right off the coast of Venezuela so it's pretty far. But it's one of the only Caribbean islands out of the hurricane belt, so it's worth traveling a little extra.

Alicia: I love love love Maui. We were just there in February for Valentine's Day. Where are you staying? We always stay at the Westin on Kanapali beach. You're in CA, so the flight won't be as bad as ours. We flew straight through from Chicago with no stop in LA. My 4 year old was awesome the whole time. She actually went snorkeling for the first time and was able to breathe through the snorkle and everything. She's so brave and loves the water! Have fun trying on bathing suits! If you can't find anything let me know and I'll ship you mine!

Janem: Where are you? Is everything going ok?

Paige,

A swimsuit standby! What a lovely idea! I am looking for one now without much luck, but I'm hoping the resort lines will come out soon. We will be staying in the Westin as well. We liked the beds there so much that we bought one of them for our home - mattress, sheets, comforter cover and all!

Tanya,

I am teary all the time too, and itchy all over. It is very weird.

Gini and Angela,

I have worked really hard at eating enough. I've gained 12 lbs. and I'm at 10 weeks. I eat five meals a day. I've been lucky not to have morning sickness - so sorry to hear that it has given you so much trouble, Gini. But now it should dry up as you are in the 2nd trimester, and you can start eating a ton. I've been reading "When You're Expecting Twins..." by Dr. Luke. It really put the fear in me about gaining enough weight, since I was only 100 lbs. when I found out they were twins.

Apparently gaining some fat in addition to the PG weight can help the twins to grow larger before they are born, since they often come early. The first milestone is at 22 weeks, so we all have a lot of time to make that goal, if you subscribe to Dr. Luke's research.

Angela,

Thank you for the big boobs wishes - that's so sweet! Actually I did get a larger bra today and it is much more comfy, so perhaps I hadn't noticed that there has been a little change.

We told the in-laws last night and they were very happy but cautious, as everyone is at this early date. Can't wait to be at 13 weeks and be able to breathe a little easier about it all.

HI Ladies:

I hope all is going well for everyone!

Alicia: I found the swim suit at Mimi Maternity. It was kind of the best of the worst! It's 2 piece tankini, all black with a halter top, I think it was around $80. Seriously if you don't find anything by your trip I will ship it to you. We also always book the Westin because of the "heavenly" beds! That is so funny. You bought one for your house! We should do that. January should be whale season shouldn't it? In February we took a snorkeling/whale watch trip and it was seriously like whale soup out in the ocean...they were everywhere! Very cool, it's nice to have something to look forward to.

I've been down for the count with the most miserable sinus infection..which then traveled into my lungs to give me a bronchial infection along with a really yucky cough that keeps me up all night. This is the crutch of being pregnant....being tired already and then not being able to sleep because you're coughing all night.

On a positive note, there is always so much going on with social/holiday gatherings Oct, Nov, Dec that the next 3 months should fly by for all of us. Before you know it, it will be January!

Just wait....next year at this time most of you will have picked out babies first Halloween costume(s). Do the other countries celebrate Halloween and go Trick Or Treating? I'm thinking that this might be a US thing.
