I find the clinic that I'm going to rather cold and clinical, much like a factory. There's no emotion from the consultants. Some of the nurses are quite nice but generally, I'm expecting some warmth and cheer (although I expect for many patients, it's hardly cheerful going to an IVF clinic). I'm not expecting fussy and cuddly service from the consultants. It's just the overall atmosphere. I'm wondering if anyone feels the same. I'm thinking about changing to another clinic although we've got 5 frozen embryos in storage. Has anyone changed clinics for any reason? Or are all clinics the same all over?
You didnt say what clinic you were at? i was at kings college i guess mayb i was lucky but they were absolutely wonderful there i couldnt have asked for better care and understanding every time i went for an appointment i would be real nervous but just walking into the clinic and my nerves would settle a little also i had a tough time emotionally going through EC i was petrified basically but the docter who was doing it made time for me she let me cry for a good 20 mins and did her best to make it as easy as possible for me i had local anesthetic by choice and was glad i did.
i so hope that you find a better clinic that you feel more relaxed and comfortable in to be quite honest when i was referred back to my gp by my clinic after getting a positive result i was quite sad i wouldnt be going there again they had been such a big big part of my life for many months it felt like i was leaving a good friend.
bset of luck to you in whatever you decide to do

Hi Hilting,
I started my ivf adventure at Bournemouth. The nurses are lovely, you get to know them and vice versa. I then swapped to the Lister for a fet. I didn't like the Lister at all ... it felt like I was just on a conveyor belt, every consultation was rushed. Had to stand in corridors for some consultation (and I was paying for all this!!). I still have 2 frosties at the Lister but there is no way I will go there again. It is easy to transfer the frosties between clinics - the embryologist sorts it out for you.
So I'm now back at Bournemouth for the next go. They are not as proactive (i.e. dont do NK cell tests etc) but at least they are nice and friendly.

Thanks for the messages from Angela and Sophie Jane. I've been going to UCH London, but we've decided to change to King's College as well and start the process again next year. I just need to feel that the consultants are serious about their patients. Lots of wishes.
