Chinese herbs/acupuncture

Post by Jules »

Hi all

I have a question for Lucy and anyone else trying out Chinese herbs or acupuncture treatment. (by the way Lucy hows things with you? Haven't heard from you in a while).

I am currently 2 weeks away from sniffing for attempt no.2 and have been seeing a Chinese doc for acupuncture and herbal medicine (YUK!). Can anyone who's also been doing this tell me what their doc has said about carrying on with the Chinese treatment during a cycle? In other words, at what point has anyone stopped (if you have) before ec and have you resumed after et? My Chinese doc is not sure about what to advise me so I have to contact my clinic, but just wondered what other peoples experiences were.

Thanks

Jules x

Hi Jules,
My acupuncturist tells me that the 2 treatments can run together. I plan to do so next cycle. I'm not taking herbs at the moment though.
I'm sure someone (Mandy?) had acupuncture during her 2ww. I would say go for it, although if your Chinese doc isn't sure, that's not going to fill you with confidence is it?
Good luck,
Tee xxx

Hi Jules
I look in on the site every now and again but to be honest I am just getting on with things.
I am happy with the Chinese treatment I am having and can now even swallow the evil brew down withour gagging - so I am moving forward.
I feel better and have some sort of hope in the acupuncture and herbs. I also have alot more energy.
My doctor runs treatments alongside IVF/ICSI but as Tee said you should be confident in the person treating you. They should also know about what IVF entails before treating you.
Lets hope you are my role model I am banking on it working for you this time round. Everyone on the site will be rushing out to have needles stuck in them and glug down glasses of foulness!!
Loads of luck
Lucy
Hi Tee and Lucy and thanks for your replies. I managed to contact my clinic who err on the side of caution and say I can carry on with TMC up til I start injection stims, at which point they say it's best to stop. It's tricky for me to know what to think as the clinic have no knowledge of what my Chinese docs doing and vice versa. I have tried explaining the whole IVF process to my Chinese doc, he understands the basics of what it involves but has no experience of actually treating someone who is doing IVF. He treats me on the basis of nourishing the womb and improving circulation and improving the whole body condition to hopefully accept an embryo. I have no idea whether it's improving things and I guess the test will be my next result.

So do you not intend to stop your TCM during any point of your cycle Lucy? I'm still a bit confused...

Thanks for listening guys!

Best of luck to everyone and my thoughts are with those of you who've had some bad news recently.

LOL Jules xxx
