HI Guys:

Tanya: I have been feeling movement. For a couple of week now. Though if I hadn't been pregnant before I don't know if I would know it was the baby or not. It feels like fluttering...a butterfly kiss. It's nothing that my dh could feel from the outside. Just wait until the last trimester when it looks like an alien is going across your tummy from the outside! I don't think your Mom's dream of what sex you are having counts... I think that it has to be the Mom. Though who knows, my Mom always knew when I was getting in trouble without actually being there!

We have been discussing names, but not too in detail yet because we'll know next week for sure what the sex is. We have a boys name for sure, but are up in the air regarding the girl names. Has anyone else picked out names already?

As far as shopping for things, I think that we waited until about 20 weeks with our first. I did most of it in the 2nd trimester because that is when you feel the best. Last time I had a January baby and believe me....Christmas shopping while big as a house was not fun. I ran my belly into stuff that I thought I could fit through and really couldn't!

Take care everyone.

Hi everyone!

Paige,
That is awesome that you can feel movement. I thought I felt something the day we had the nuchal translucency. I think it's partly because I knew exactly where they were. Lately I've been so busy and so dead tired when I went to bed that I haven't tried to see if I felt anything. It was very faint. I can't wait to feel them move!

Tanya,
What a beautiful baby you have! I though all ultrasounds would look the same, but it is not the case. I loved seeing yours. Ours is posted at (removed for privacy reasons). My husband has notated them, which is adorable. We get the official nuchal translucency test results next week, though the doctor assured us they both looked good.

Ang,
Great to hear from you. I'm getting bigger too, though my boss insists I don't look any different. I went from 100 lbs. to 120 lbs. for crying out loud! You will love the ultrasound - you'll see them moving, and it is so cute!

We have not discussed names, though I have a little file of some I like on my computer. Our last name rules out a lot of good ones because they don't go together. Simply cannot wait to see if they are boys/girls. Since I'm not doing amnio, they might not be able to tell for sure. We will probably start shopping in January, though the researching gear has been a daily thing for a while.

Oh, and I will finally stop the suppositories on Monday. CAN NOT WAIT for that. Have you all been thinking of what your little bumps are going to be for Halloween next year? I have - I cannot wait to sew the little costumes up - two chili peppers, one red and one green!

Hello Alicia

Post by Cate »

I liked the idea you have have planned the twins Halloween costumes for next year! We all went to a party last night I know was day early but my friend had lots of children there so is was best to have Saturday night as back to school this Monday after half term. I have just been downloading pictures from the camera and emailing my friends we look scary. It was a really nice party my friend Janet is a teacher and had lots of good party ideas for the children ie decorating little cakes, making monsters out of maize, find the pumpkins hunts with clues etc. doughnets on washing line instead of apples and she had decorated the house and garden with lights pumpkins etc They used to live in Malaysia and Mexico so they have all sorts of nasty masks and stuff as they go in for Halloween in a big way.
There was one baby there in a little sleepsuit with a hood dressed like a pumpkin very sweet Paul was trying to work out how old he was we both had no idea turned out he was nearly one.
When I see little people like that trying to stand and being dangerous all over the place in Janets now very un small child friendly house I can't believe that hopefully we will have one next May.
I had a really good night didn't talk amnino or ICSI all night made a very pleasant change I did tell Janets sister I was having a baby because of the drinking thing! It's great being able to start to tell people. Will you do anything this year for Halloween? Cate x

Hi Everyone

Alicia, I loved your pictures.... I can't believe how many you've got. If you click on the back arrow on ours, you can go back through the history to the beginning. It's been really good for us being able to put them online, as our families are in England, and we're in Germany, so they're getting to see it all as well.
And I absolutely LOVE your idea of two chilli peppers... how adorable is that??? When you've done them, you HAVE to send pictures!!!!

I've been feeling movement for about 5 weeks now... and at my last ultra-sound I saw that where I'm feeling the most movements is where little Bernie's feet are!!

I've also been looking for nursery furniture... I'm not overly enamoured with the stuff they have here in Germany... the stuff in England is much nicer... and Holland too... we're going for a short break there at the end of the month... is it tooooo early to buy???????????????

Look forward to hearing your stories.

Alicia: Congratulations on the end of the suppositories. Mine got really gross at the end, like my body wasn't absorbing it any more and I was thrilled to get rid of them. I loved seeing your ultrasound pics. If I ever had the ambition to get my scanner fixed, I would put mine out there! The chili pepper idea is adorable. I should find out the sex from the amnio the end of this week, so I can start thinking about next yr haha.

Tanya: The baby furniture dilemma is hard. I made the mistake of ordering mine on-line with ever seeing the product in person from Pottery Barn Kids, and the crib is great...it's built to be a sleigh style crib that turns into a toddler bed. The changing table and dresser were not great. They are made out of a soft pine that dents and scratches easily and I'm not wild about the antiquing style they used...as it looks like yellow streak on white furniture to me. One more baby and I can get rid of it. I can assuredly say that this is our last pregnancy so it will have to function for 3 more years.

Angela: How are you doing? Weather still nice in CA?

Cate: Finally being able to tell people about the pregnancy is such a relief isn't it? I was showing so much at 12 weeks it was pretty hard to disguise.

If you put your information into www.americanbaby.com every time you log in it will tell you how many weeks and days until you give birth! I know not all of us will have an AMERICAN baby but the pregnancy calendar is the same right? Also....for those of you from the UK....I've been reading other posts that talk about gaining a stone in weight. How many lbs is a stone?

Do you guys think we should start a 2nd trimester thread? I don't want to leave everyone out, but I think that Cate is the newest +tive amongst us and she is 12 + weeks already.

Hi Paige

A stone is 14lbs- or approx 7kg.

I think a new thread would be a good idea... this one's getting a bit long... and we ought to be proud of how far we've got!!

Take care,
