Thank you both for the information as you both know the more you know especially the positive things the better it is in this case I think ignorance is definately not bliss.
Debra what made you move to Norway if you don't mind me asking? My husband is half Norwegian his Father is a retired Norwegian merchant navy officer who now lives in the UK. Paul served in the navy when he first left school and they all did live there when he was little his Mother couldn't pick up the language though and missed her family so they settled in UK, thank goodnes or I might not have met him!!
I had my 18th in Norway a very sober affair staying with a friend in Oslo, by a strange coincidence and then met Paul not long after in this country. Last year my Mum Jess I did a cruise of Norway showed Jessie her roots it's a very beautiful country very unspolit. We stayed partly in Hafslo and toured the whole thing reminded me of the Lake District but bigger more dramatic and less green.
Juliana what a shocking thing to go through you must have been out of your mind but how wonderful you got a happy ending and two lovely children, I had read that amnio is more complicated with twins what a brave woman you must be.
Thank you for all the good wishes Cate xxx
DF is Norwgian and we met whilst backpacking in South America 5 years ago. I moved here as soon as I'd finished my travels in summer 2000 and I've been here ever since. It was a huge risk really as we'd not lived together, other than sharing a tent for a few months! Plus I had to give up any hopes of going back into investment banking HR which was my previous life. The language isn't easy as I'm no linguist but DF is a journalist so isn't likely to find a job outside of the country. It's tough at times but 'the things we do for love' is dead right! Luckily, I'd already been away from the UK since March 98 so am long over being homesick. Plus, to be honest, I wouldn't want to move back. I've got used to the slower pace, plus it's a very different society. It's immensely child-friendly (incl. fantastic maternity leave and pay) and as we've got a 1 year old daughter, that counts for a lot.
Rereading my post, I should have made it clear the 10 day wait is for the results, not to get a test. I know elsewhere, incl. the UK, the results come back much quicker so the wait isn't so long.
Just wanted to wish you an all-clear amnio tommorrow, assuming you have decided to go ahead. I hope it is pain free and without mishap. I will probably be joining you in a week, as my AFP blood screen results came back poor.
Good luck to us both - hope we have positive news to share in a week or two.
