Tanya:

Thanks for starting the 2nd trimester thread. I feel like we've actually accomplished something.

Still awaiting the amnio results...the hospital called today and my heart stopped (thinking I would be getting the results), but they were only calling to schedule my level II ultrasound.

Trying to get the ambition to get on the treadmill today. I've been off it for 2 weeks for being sick and 1 week because the amnio freaked me out and I didn't want to overdo it. This should be interesting. 3 weeks is just about the timeframe where it will feel like starting over. yeah for me, this should be fun.

Paige,

I can't believe how conscientious you are being... I really know I SHOULD be exercising.. but I feel too tired and sorry for myself to do it. How dreadful must I sound!?!?!

Work has become a living nightmare... as they know I will be leaving, they all want a part of me, and I'm so stressed that I'm thinking of packing it all in now, despite the fact that the money will obviously come in handy, what with everything that we will need to get... can anyone give me the lottery results for this coming week????

I just hope that little bump isn't feeling my stress as much as I am, and that it's mostly hormones that are making me feel this way. It's unbelievable how LITTLE control you have over yourself!

Still, we've all made it to the second trimester- and for that hurdle we must be grateful! Sorry for sounding out... I guess a problem shared is a problem halved... we live in hope! :?

Sorry for the whinge... looking forward to hear how you're all getting on.

Take care,
T xx

HI Guys:

Tanya: Don't feel bad about feeling tired after work! When I was working full time with my first pregnancy...there was no working out, and I went to bed around 8pm every night. I was exhausted as well. Now that I'm home with my 4 yr old there is excess time with ballet, preschool etc...and having the equipment in my basement helps tremendously.

Also, know that I gained 60+ pounds with my first pregnancy...or 4.5 stones? haha the 3rd trimester thread was worried about 2 or 3 stones...just wait until someone hits my marker ha ha. So I'm trying not to do that this time around. AS I got home from the hospital and had a lot of treadmill in front of me in order to get back into my clothes. I didn't buy anything new and forced myself to wear maternity stuff until I could get back into them. We'll see how I do, because in the 2nd trimester you gain about a pound a week.

We're leaving for Aruba on Tuesday am and I just got a humongous cold sore yesterday...that's always nice.

Paige,

You must be dying to know if you'll have a little girl or a boy. So sorry your results are delayed. But I hope your vacation is fabulous. I'm sure it will be - a vacation sounds great right now!

Tanya,

Boy, I know what you mean about your job. Mine used to be just like that. Sometimes I start to regret quitting it to persue treatment, but then I remember what it was really like. Highly stressful with lots of air travel - I never could have done it, though we sure could use the money.

Cate,

Hi! You and me are the babies of the class, so now it's great we are both in the 2nd trimester too! I'm happy about it, but I've stopped gaining weight which has me a little worried. Probably because of having a cold. I'll just have to eat more

Got our nuchal transluceny results back yesterday and they are great! The same numbers for both twins - 1 in 1,131 for Downs Syndrome and 1 in 250,000 for Trisonomy 18. Not bad for an old girl like me! We are very happy. Now, just can't wait to find out if they are boys/girls or a mixed set.

Hi Ladies

Congratulations, Alicia! You must be really pleased with those results!! Well done! You must be feeling really relieved.

Paige- hope you have a fantastic holiday... LUCKY YOU!!!

My pregnancy hormones came in quite useful this week at work, and I had a bit of a melt-down... but at least it made them realise what they're doing...

Bump is getting bigger... although so far, I have only put on about 2kg (4lb) which I'm not going to complain about... I'm sure that there will plenty more where that came from!! Still, not so sure that I'd like to put on 4.5 stone!!! We're off swimming this weekend- my token effort at exercise- in my new swimming costume!!

Has anyone got any ideas about winter coats? This winter is meant to be a really really bad one, and we had about 3 months snow and minus temperatures last year!! BRRRRRR!! Have been looking on the net, but haven't seen anything that looks near enough warm. Any hints gratefully received!

Take care,
Tanya

HI Everyone!

The hospital called today and we are having baby girl! The chromosonal tests came back perfect. We're thrilled to have the news, and I'm very excited for my daughter to have a sister.

Alicia: Great news with your nuchal fold test! It is a load off isn't it? Two little twinies growing leaps and bounds this trimester! It will be great to feel them both moving around! Good for you reading up on all of the dietary requirements and actually following through with it.

Tanya: You've only gained 4 lbs! You're my hero. I'm up 15! I did get on the treadmill yesterday and took the dogs out for a nice long walk today. I need to get back on the program here. Those 3 weeks off and the Halloween candy (of course I buy what I love to eat) has done me in! Although even if I gain a pound a week until the end now, it's still 12 less than the last time ha ha. I hope the people at work realize that if you get too stressed out and your blood pressure goes up, your Dr. will put you on leave and you won't be there at all! You should tell everybody that your Dr. is threatening that so they treat you with kid gloves.

Last time I had a January baby and I didn't buy a maternity coat, I just wore sweaters and let my coats hang open. This winter...since' we'll be pregnant all winter maybe I'll buy a maternity coat at www.gap.com they have some cute ones. My poncho is getting me along right now fairly nicely. I can totally hide my bump with it!

Angela: How are you doing?

Cate: Thanks for the well wishes. I truly appreciate it. I'm sure the cold sore is so I can be even more attractive in my maternity bathing suit while on vacation.

Paige,

Congratulations on your news that you're having a little girl! I told my husband that if it's two boys we will be adopting a little girl next.

Tanya,

I agree about threatening disability leave. It sounds like your company is just like my old one. I found out yesterday that if I take disability before Dec. 31, I'll get seven times as much money than if I wait until January. I quit that stressful job almost exactly a year ago, so I guess it still counts up until the end of this year. I'll have to ask my doctor what he/she thinks.

Angela,

Were the little ones moving around during the ultrasound. It is so strange to see them actually moving for the first time.

I did get a winter coat, even though it does not get terribly cold in California. So I got it at a consignment store. It's a really nice Gap Maternity coat, so I was thrilled to find it second hand. Ebay might be a good place to look, too. I may not even need it, but at least I won't be running out and spending $150 on a coat I hate at the last minute if we have a cold spell. Though I have to say, Gap does have some darling ones on their website now.

Hi Ladies,

Well, I've made it to the 2nd trimester, at last - 13 wks 1 day today. Due date is 17th May.
Hope you don't mind me joining in on your thread. I've been following your messages through the first trimester but didn't have the courage to join in.

We've had our nuchal scan today and everything is just fine so I feel ready to officially move over to this side.

I still can't believe we've got to where we are. So many times I thought we would never make it here. I know there's a long way still to go but at the moment I feel so very lucky and so so privileged to be at the stage I am. I am so proud of my little bump.

I'm so very happy for all of you too and glad to see that everything seems to be going well for you all.

Take good care of yourselves (I'm sure you are anyway)

Love Barny

Congratulations and welcome Barny!

How is everyone feeling at the mo? I've started having a very bloody nose (sorry, not v attractive!) - has anyone else had that? It is really cold and dry here at the moment- despite the 10cm of snow(!) we had yesterday!

The weight now appears to be gaining rapidly.... not that I'm really eating much more, so I just hope that it's my little miracle who's growing big and strong!! I can't believe that I'm now in my 18th week- and will be having my 20 week scan in about 12 days!! I'm really excited to see him/her... convinced it's a little girl, though!!

We went winter coat shopping at the weekend- that was amusing.... wandering around non-maternity shops, shoving jumpers and scarves up my t-shirt, to see if I could still do the coats up! We managed to find a lovely one, that feels just like a big, fat comfy duvet... LOVELY!! and at least I will be able to use it longer than just the pregnancy.

Write soon and let us know how you're all feeling.
