Dawn V's news (if anyone can remember me!!!

Post by Dawn V »

Hi everyone not sure who will remember me but hopefully some of you will!
Have not had a pc for 3 months so have lost touch completely but just wanted to let you know that our precious little boy Joshua Daniel arrived safely on 23 Oct at 10.52am weighing 7lb 10oz. He's 10 days old today and I still can't quite believe he's ours!!
Have had a quick look at the boards and see that Tracey S & Juliana have had their twins - Congratulations to you both you can hopefully give me lots of tips!!! I'll try and catch up properly when I get a spare 1/2 hour (if I ever do)!!! Or if anyone fancies giving me a rundown of what I've missed that would be great!
Love to you all

Congratulations Dawn and welcome to Joshua Daniel - we like that name! And what a fab day to be born, 35 years after me!

It sounds like you're enjoying your precious little one. Make the most of it because it all goes much too quickly.

Dawn

How lovely to hear from you and wonderful news! Congratulations - been wondering where you had gone and assumed it was pc problems like a lot of others that have gone and reappeared!
Lisa Chang had her twins too. Mine came at 39 weeks - they induced me but they were quite happy in there so after 36 hours of labour I had to go for Csection - oh well gave it my best shot. They are 13 wks old tomorrow and a delight but hard work with two!
Jules - did not know it was your birthday - sorry we missed it.
Juliana had her twins too - boy and a girl.
Love to you all

'CONGRATULATIONS' Dawn!
I have been looking on here for ages to see if you have posted. I cycled with you in January -I think you were 5 days ahead of me so I have tried to follow your progress.
Well done, hope baby Joshua brings you a lifetime of love, happiness and joy.

Hi Dawn,
Congratulations! Love the name of your little boy! My twins arrived 23 september, like Tracey's after some time of labour finally with a csection - but recovery has been faster than people told me so no complaints there. Aren't we all so lucky!
I wish i had tips for you but for now all I have learned is that routine is better than feeding on demand, at least with twins. for the rest, it feels as if I am muddling along - but Nadia and Alexander are fine and growing so I must be coping with all the hard work...
once again, love and congratulations!

Thank you all for your lovely replies.
Tracey I can't begin to imagine what twins are like to look after!! Joshua is a little dream but I'm still shattered!! The birth was quite traumatic and is taking me time to recover from. Was in early labour from Weds night and then waters broke at 3pm on the Friday and finally had him 19hrs later at 10.52am Sat. All throught the night his heart rate was dropping then going back to normal and he was back to back and his head wasn't far enough down the birth canal so was going to have a c section but then they decided to give me a spinal block and I had one Dr turning him from the outside and the other waiting for his head to be low enough to grab with the forceps!! Nice!! Had quite a lot of stitches as you can imagine!!!
But he is worth every bit of it. Those lovely hormones are raging though and have felt quite tearful for the last few days and also very disapointed that after his first feed he wouldn't latch on anymore so he's on the bottle but is going from strength to strength so must be ok.
Are the tears normal??!!!

Hi Juliana

Congratulations on your twins, they are lovely names too.
I'm sure routine is a necessity with two ofthem!! Are you breast ot bottle feeding? We tried Josh on the Gina Ford feeding routine where he had some 3oz feeds and some 4oz feeds duringthe day and is then only meant to wake once at night but bless him I think he's too young as he was starting to be sick with the larger feeds which is something he didn't do when we fed on demand so he's back to on demand feeding but tends to go between 3 and 4 hours and has roughly 3 1/2 oz each feed so can't complain.

Poor you! Tears are normal by the way! As for Gina - works wonders but too young at the moment so go with the flow a bit like you are and try and pack in as many day feeds as you can per her routine and then once in the night - if memory serves me right around 2am and then 6 am!
Try and get the sleeps sorted out quite early - we had ours sleeping all over the place most of the time and Alice proved a sod to settle herself so had to sleep train.
Good luck

Damn just typed a reply and then lost it!!
Thanks Tracey re the tears, how long do they last for before it's considered abnormal??!!
How long was it before you were out and about with the girls?? Josh is 2 weeks today and I've been out a few times with him and dh but not on my own. I still feel really weak and if I walk any distance I'm in pain, I guess I thought I'd be fine after a few days and didn't expect recovery to take this long!!
Angela

CONGRATULATIONS what fantastic news you must be thrilled, when are they due?
I remember when you were waiting to start your tmt and now your pg!!
Look aafter yourself and those precious babies and enjoy every minute - I miss being pregnant so much I even cried when I packed away my maternity clothes!!

Hi Dawn,
It sounds as if in practice the routine thing and the demand feeding come out not so different. I have not done the complete Gine Ford routine with the larger feeds during the day, Nadia is too small, just fed both at fixed times which is roughly every 3 hours except at night when they last 4 hours about half of the time, I am quite happy about it. They have been good on the whole except...they are both crying now, I have two very crancky babies today!
love and good luck with Josh...I feel tearful a lot of the time by the way, must be the hormone changes...
