Is et counted as day 1, therefore day 14 is 13 days after et?

Is day of et day 1??

Post by sophiejane »

I'm confused. I thought the day of et is counted as day 1, therefore day 14 will actually be 13 days after et.
For example I had et on the 7th Nov so am counting test day as the 20th Nov. Is this right. I would hate to test a day early and get a negative when a day later I could get a positive.
What are the rest of you doing??????

Hello...you must be climbing the walls!

My blood tests were always 14 days (i.e. 2 weeks to the day) after ET.

I suspect you'll get lots of different anwers as it seems clinics do things differently. Why not call your clinic and ask them to confirm which they consider the correct day to be? You're so right to want to avoid getting a :( when really you're on track to get a BFP :D

Good luck,
Debra.

Hello!

My hospital seem to count ET as day 0! So day 1 is a full day after transfer.. But as Debra has said, clinics seem to really vary as I know some people get to test 12 days after et!

Good Luck!!

Hi SohieJ

I've always counted ET day as '0' too - ie. the day (24 hours) after, as day 1.... but my hospital are evil anyway, and always make you wait until day 17 before testing. It's really bizarre, but every hospital/clinic seems to be different. I know when I did my last treatment in Aug, one or two girls were testing 10 days after ET.

Hi Sophie,

My clinic tells me that day of egg collection, not transfer, is day zero. Then you can have your ET on day 2, 3, 4 or 5 - so everyone's will be different number of days after EC to test, depending on what stage embies were at when they were put back. Then you have to wait 16 days after E collection, not transfer (at least that's how they do it at my clinic). If you think about it, it makes sense - as EC would be the day of ovulation, then you have to wait till your period would have been 2 days late, which is 16 days later.

You'll get as many different answers as responses, I guess!

Good luck anyway!
