Hi Girls,
Well I can't believe it, I will be 30 on Sunday and Lee is taking me away for a couple of days. He won't tell me where I am going, but we will be leaving early on Sunday morning and all he tells me it is a long journey.
Alex is staying at my Mom's from Sunday till Tuesday night, Lee did say if I want him to come with me I can but it will be nice for us to have some quality time together.
I can understand where Lee is coming from Alex needs to be in bed for 20:00 or round that time because he starts getting grumpy etc.... I am looking forward to it but also nervous. Mom knows everything where I am going, and she said he will be best to stay at home because it is cold where I am going???
Intriged don't like surprises, but least its something for my 30th so it should be special.
It doesn't make me a bad mom does it leaving my son with my Mom & Dad for a couple of days?
OMG I'm just a worry wort.

No Shell, you're definitely NOT a bad mummy for taking a couple of days off. In fact, if the days alone help the relationship with Lee, then you could argue that NOT going would be the wrong thing to do.
We were invited to a no-kids wedding last NYE. Maya was only 6m and I was soooo worried. We were in Suffolk for the holidays and the wedding was in Gretna Green and of friends from Australia, so we couldn't take her with us (I'd looked for babysitters and failed). In the end, it all went brilliantly. We had a great time for the 3 days we were away, Maya had a blast and despite all my calls home, didn't appear to miss us at all!
You'll have a great time I'm sure. Just call a few times at the beginning to check Alex is Ok, once he is, feel free to kick back and relax..... I wonder where you're going? abroad you reckon? Rome, Istanbul, Skegness....the world beckons!!

1. It's a big landmark birthday so you want to celebrate by doing something special.
2. Alex will be with his grandma who he loves and trusts so he'll be fine
3. You and Lee need some 'you' time to get yourselves back on track to talk and whatever!!
4. After everything you#ve been through, you deserve it so remember that and go a bit easier on yourself or I'll borrow Jo's birch twigs!
I reckon it's either scotland or to see Father Christmas in Lapland. What do you reckon girls - shall we have a bet on where Shell's going?

Well I still don't have a clue where I am going and my Mom won't tell me and Lee says he will not tell me either. My Mom is now having Alex for me on the Saturday night because Lee said I have to leave at 06:00 on Sunday morning so it wouldn't be fairto drga Alex out at that time. I really do not know where I am going, I don't think Lapland but wouldn't be surprised if it is Scotland. I have brought myself a new jacket for where I am going and just got to get myself prepared.
I am nervous and excited, worried incase we don't get on but hoping with all my heart we will.

Di - You was up late wasn't you, I looked at what time you posted and it was after 01:00 in the morning. How is your little one? Did the antibotics work? That is brill news a new cousin for Ben I bet your well happy for her ain't you.
Deb - I love Snow, I wouldn't mind taking Alex to Lapland when he is a little older to be honest. I looked where you are Norway and bloody hell I bet it is cold there.
Weather cold and frosty here this morning, Alex woke at 02:40 this morning and awake at 07:00 just gave him a bottle and now going to have his Ready Brek.
Best go and see to him, he's downstairs in his highchair watching Cbeebies.

Shell, how wonderful for you and don't you worry a bit about Alex ..... babies seem to have their own little time frames going on and don't appear to view a couple of days any different to a couple of hours!
I'm sure in fact that it will do you good to have the rest, the holiday, and the time with Lee - brilliant!!!!!!!!
Bet you're going to see Santa !!! Next time you go you can take Alex with you. Or perhaps Russia ...... so gorgeous in the winter!! The possibilities are endless!!

Hi, yes is it cold here but MUCH warmer today (minus 1) than a couple of days ago. There's masses of snow falling again. We've a Champion's League match being played next door (Rosenborg if anyone is a footie fan) and they're playing a team from Athens tonight, I just saw some of their fans in town looking shellshocked....poor sods obviously weren't expecting this much snow!
Shell, I'm sure you know this and aren't giving him too much but Ready Brek has a lot of hidden salt. There was a terrible case last year of a baby who died as his parents had thought it was the same as baby porrage and given it to him several times a day. I think their baby was younger than Alex and I really don't want to scare you but you might want to check what age it's suitable for. Although they may have changed the recipe by now. Sorry if this alarms you.
I'm back indoors from having worked this morning. I do a mixture of EFL teaching and proof reading so will spend the afternoon checking the text of a book.
Hoping all our babies are well and having fun. Maya is back at kindergarten having been ill yesterday. The children play out in the snow for hours and even sleep outside - in their prams and super thick sleeping bags. They are hardy little souls!

Hi Shell - well I'm at work now actually, but you still have to check for messages now and then y'know!! We've got a big staff meeting today and we're having food brought in which smells gorgeous!!!
So excited for you about your holiday - Adrian and I will probably go somewhere on our own next year just for a couple or three days - dont feel guilty - Alex will probably enjoy the change too, babies are no different to us I suppose. he'll miss you but have a great time I'm sure!!

still got to bath him in oil and apply cream 4 times a day and see what happens

Deb - I am well shocked about the ready brek because my h/v said to give it Alex but when he next gets weighed I am going to mention it to her and see what she says. I wouldn't think it would hurt Alex now he's coming up to 10 months old but I may be wrong. Deb it sounds lovely there with all that snow, I would love a couple of inches here it would be well great but I suppose once we have it I would be wanting it to melt. How many inches would you reckon you have?

Alex liked the Sunshine Orange but he likes the peachy porridge now and I think that is Heinz I may be wrong. I have been giving him the Mom's own jars he hated jars at one time but he is getting better with his meals now and he will eat them now no problem. He has had Vegetable Jumble tonight.

Hi, I found a link to the salt story. It looks like Ready Brek was only one of the things he was fed incl. gravy which was probably the real cuprit. He was only a few months old and much too young to be eating adult foods but the parents didn't know any better.

Shell, if your health visitor said it's Ok then I'm sure it's OK. I found lots of links to stories saying it's a low salt breakfast so it was probably the combination of foods that was so unhealthy.
