Hi, yes - like lots of people on the board, I've frozen 'excess' fertilised eggs after a successful egg collection. I've used all mine in subsequent, negative, treatments. Other people have become pg following FETs though.

Did you mean harvesting them outside of a treatment and saving them for a future date?

Debra.

Well, I'm diagnosed with POF  ... but i'm not ready to give up hope on having a baby that is biologically mine. A gynae scanned and saw an immature egg (13.5mm). that was a few weks ago and i doubt that it's growing. (haven't had periods for more than 4 mths) so i just have the thought that before i start any treatments, maybe i can take out the egg and save it for future use. i'm not married yet, so i guess it doesn't really make sense for my bf & myself to start going thru IVF. so i just want to know if it is advisable... i have the intense fear that i only have 1 egg!

actually....i have no idea what is icsi or a lot of the medical terms i'm seeing on the board

Hi, many of the medical terms are explained in the Glossary (scroll down and it's low on the Resources list).

Re. not being married, I guess that's a personal thing but not everyone on here is married (I'm 'only' engaged and have been for 4.5 years - lol!).

Did your OB agree you might only have one egg? It seems unlikely but 13.5mm is a good size. I'm sure that if your doctor thought you had no more eggs they would also be suggesting harvesting now.

My use of 'successful egg collection' meant they collected some follicles of a good enough size, found eggs in most, the eggs later fertilised giving us enough (2) for reimplantation plus some for freezing to use in later FETs (Frozen Egg Transfer).

Hth (hope this helps)

Thx Debra! I'm sure to look thru the glossary. :)

Well, I guess it's a lot more conservative here. If I can't get pregnant, I'll be in deep trouble.

Actually, I haven't manage to lock down the right doctor yet. Have been to two doctors but they are not experienced or educated in handling POF cases. The first doctor gave me a death sentence on having babies, unless I get someone to donate eggs to me. The second one goes like "huh?" when I mentioned POF, and that is enough to drive me out from his clinic. But he's the one who spotted the egg. I'm supposed to go back to check on the size again, but I'm not confident about him. How I hope I'm in UK, I think I have a better chance there... I'm wasting my time & money here, going from one doctor to another!

From some of the readings I did, I must have the right FSH level to collect my eggs rite? If yes, I guess I'm having a slim chance cos I have a very high FSH level at 79.4! What shld I do???!!!!!!
