Short protocol

Post by Sallyc »

Hi all,

i will start my first ever ivf tmt in december and i will be on a so called "day 2 start short protocol". i start downreg. with buserelin injections for about 14 days, then have a scan and blood test. if scan and blood r ok i start on the fsh.

now my question...has anyone done this protocol? everyone i have been talking to so far seems to do a lot longer or a lot shorter prot. this one seems to be a mixture of short and long.

thx for your help. so glad i found this page. good luck to u all.

Hi Sally, I have had 3 cycles before (all long protocol) but we about to get going for the 4th time and this time the clinic have decided to give the short protocol a go to see if we can get any more eggs (I have had 8, 7 and 6).

But your protocol sounds different I think, I will start Buserelin on day 2 for 4 days then have a scan and start FSH. From AF to EC takes about 2 weeks in total depending on how you react to FSH.

Good luck for when you start.

Love

Hi everyone,

I too will be doing a short protocol from January. Er..hello - again. And hello to Dolly, who I cycled with way, way back. I have been told by my consultant, that they do it for the over 35s! Aren't we lucky girls.

I have had pretty much everything in my cycles. First -ve, Second - ABANDONED (NHS tmt) 3rd +ve (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!then m/c) 4th - Hopelessly negative - very poorly monitored - er - just the once - then only 2 eggs. So now, have changed clinics, to the other side of the UK. and trying once again. They swear by the short protocol for ladies over 35 - and have good results.

So GOOD LUCK everyone :P

(And, don't we b***y need it)

Dear Sally, my love!

I am turning the big four O - in a few months time, so I am sorry if the old age thing upset you. BUT!!! Apart from being a sprightly 31 yr old, I should have added that this clinic, has had fantastic results and their research simply supports short protocol.

I hope that cheers you up. I certainly am going in with my eyes (and legs, of course) wide open, as I have had a rough ride so far. At the end of the day a lot of luck is involved.

Hi Nicky,

no, the age is not really upsetting me...i was only joking!!!

I have heard/been told that they use the short protocol mostly for low responder. Is that right?

Of course a lot of luck is involved, but hopefully we all be lucky one day!!!

lol, Nicky, u keep your eyes (and legs) wide open.

Very good luck to u and all the best.

Sally.
